Ex-corrado owners, what do you drive now?
corradophil replied to kebabman's topic in General Car Chat
I sold my Corrado and bought a Mk4 Golf GTI 1.8t, which is remapped, lowered on Koni suspension and has Audi TT 6 spoke Ronals in graphite. The Golf is a great car for every day use, but does not have the character and in some places the build quality of the Corrado i.e. rubber paint on the lower half of the dash and door handles, which is easily damaged. I'll probably keep the Golf for a few more years, and hopefully will get it to stage 2 spec (230-240bhp) next year. Do I miss the Corrado yep :( Luckily I only miss the Corrado, because it is off the road for the winter. I bought my Corrado back in January, and still love it as much as before. It's market value is probably around £1k to £1.5k, but someone would have to offer me at least £5k before I'd consider selling it  -
It looks like it. I hope to get one to replace my Mk4 Golf within the next 2 or 3 years. I can't see the Scirroco having the same exclusivity as the Corrado. I have a feeling VW will shift a lot of these.

:notworthy: Great work, just signed your guest book. Should be fun in the wet :)

This was my dad's last Saab 99 with the Starskey and Hutch stripes
-
:norty: Mmmm, Morris Marinas. None of my friends had a clue what my dad's car was, but I liked them. His second one had twin carbs, and his last one has stripes which ran from the top of the C pillar round the rear windows and along the whole length of the car. It was red, so people always used to say it was like the starsky and hutch car.

8) I like that. My dad had 3 Saab 99s when I was younger, none of them went like that though.

 I went to Sainsburys at lunch, they have a special deal, Xbox 360 Elite, with Forza 3, Fifa 2010, Lego Batman and some buggy racing game for £199!!!!!!! Guess what I now have in the boot of my car :D Can't wait to get home and have a blast in a VR
-
8) Ok, thanks, so a new one would probably be the way to go, to make sure I get the more reliable updated internals, and the three year warrantee. Hmmm, best check my bank balance :D

:? I'm not into gaming much anymore, but loved GT2, 3 and 4 on the PS2. A mate bought an xbox 360 and leant it to me with Forza 2, the xbox scratched the disc, so he got that replaced, then the xbox went wrong, and he got it repaired and sold it. I was really impressed by Forza 2, and have to admit I'm becoming very tempted to get an xbox 360 and Forza 3. I have a few questions though. Are xbox 360s reliable? I've looked on ebay and it seems that a fully functioning one is a special feature  There are adverts for repair kits to sort out the red ring of death, do these work? I'm more than happy to strip an xbox down and repair it following instructions. I'm thinking it might be a good way to get a bargain xbox - buy one which has the red ring of death problem, and buy a repair kit to repair it myself. Alternatively would I be better off getting a new one? I'm won't be going online with it, so would an xbox 360 arcade be fine for playing all games, just without the online bit?

Stick with Sebrings

I bought mine from my local VW dealer, who said at the time they were available again. So it is worth a phone call to see if that is still the case. Otherwise £100 second hand in good condition sounds about right.

headunits that look 'right' in a corrado
corradophil replied to robtalbott's topic in ICE 'n' Secure
I have one very similar to this http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ALPINE-TDA-7550R- ... 286.c0.m14 I bought it brand new, and have taken it with me in all my cars. It still works perfectly and being grey it fits in very well in my platinum C interior. -
That looks very good :salute:

Once I had reassembled everything, I filled mine via the header tank, untill it was full, then ran the engine with the cap off, and every time the level dropped, topped it up, untill it stopped dropping. Then I ran the car as usual, but keeping an eye on the coolent level. It only needed a tiny bit extra, after being used. This is the way I have always re-filled coolent to a fulkly drained engine, and I have never had any airlock issues. Obviously make sure the engine is cold when topping up with cold water to save risking damage, by the sudden cooling the cold water would cause. Also it saves trying to safely remove the cap from a pressurised system.

I had a look at doing it with the dash in, but ended up pulling it out.

Really sad news. I was lucky enough to get a factory tour there a few years ago, plus i got to see the private family collection. A real shame for all involved, and a sad end to a company who have produced some very nice cars. :(

The VR is looking very good Pat. Last time I saw you was at the Seat meet in Braintree, when you had just got your Ibiza. Since then I have sold my Corrado, and boought it back again, and got a Mk4 GTI too.

Has your 'rado been mistaken for anything?
corradophil replied to Stevo-M's topic in General Car Chat
I've had the usual Scirocco, but also had Collorado Coreeda Corolla Golf Mine is Green, but once when I got it MOT'd it said it is Blue on the certificate  -
There is no way I would trade my Rado in for £2k. Mines only a 2.016v, so not worth loads at the moment, but £4k cash, would not even make me part from it.
-
That looks superb, and to be honest I don't care if your 16, 6 or 60, it's just great to see so much effort put into restoring an old Corrado, when others are just breakiing them for spares :salute:

Corrado clear out (5 shells) + a scirroco
corradophil replied to til2143's topic in General Car Chat
I keep telling my gf exactly that. I want to be buried in the Corrado. Trouble is I keep thinking, if it is still around and in good condition, I'd hate to be responsible for destroying it. :confused4: -

That's a very sad site :( Were they all crash damaged? -
I had a couple of old plugs which are the same, so I made up a test lead for carrying out this set up.

If you can post a photo of the airbox, I will download and circle the connections and post it up for you. You need to measure current (Amps) which means the meter has to be in line between the cable and plug.
