The above is a photo of my old plastic fuel swirl pot that has seen better days really. Thanks to Toby we can upload photos again 👍 Si

I reckon that'll be a good project but will possibly need a fair few things replacing as it's been stood for 13 years. The blue smoke will probably be oil and white smoke could be coolant, so yes there's a possibility the engine might need looking at ? Si

Yes as stated above all 3 items are available on Ebay from VW Parts International, think they're based in Lincolnshire. I've also checked on VW Classic Parts site, there's only the one plastic HT guide piece available now from them. Shouldered nut 021 133 915B still available Front plastic HT guide piece 021 133 917 Obsolete (was available last year) Rear plastic HT guide piece 021 133 918 still available Side plastic HT guide, fits above distributor / coil pack 021 133 919B Obsolete (was available last year) Si

Hello there, welcome back to the Corrado Forum, starting to get the Corrado itch again :thumbleft: Si

Can someone please explain to me what does this do?
vw rule replied to ABV-VR6's topic in Drivetrain
I think the very early first Corrado's from 1988 possibly up to early-ish 1989 were fitted with the 5 speed MK2 Golf gearbox, whether that was cable or hydraulic in 1988 ? They suffered ill matched gear ratios, so quickly changed to the Passat 5 speed gearbox, which matched the car and engines better in the Corrado at the time. The MK2 Golf gearbox has a close gear ratio, so is very quick off the mark, but the top end in 5 gear wasn't low ratio enough, but in the Passat VW I think preferred the longer gear ratios, which is why the Corrado feels more like a Grand Tourer (GT) cruiser, 3rd gear is especially well matched in this Passat box, it really allows you to use the power for a lot longer before changing up, whereas the MK2 Golf box you'd be changing gear a lot sooner. In my Corrado 2.0 16v I can cruise in 5th gear at 30MPH, whereas in my old MK2 Scirocco which used the MK2 Golf box, I'd have to change down to 4th. This is what I've read and from my own personal experience with these two gearbox set ups. Si -
Also Rob if your Corrado is outside in all weathers like mine is, have you thought about a decent car cover, I bought one recently from Halfords for my Corrado, and it fits great. This way your car is kept dry especially if it's one of the breathable covers, and don't feel pressured to get everything done on your Corrado in one hit, do a bit here and there and then save up some funds over the next few months, or even over a year. Rob my Corrado has been of the road since early 2015, I've got loads done on it but have still got a few things left to sort out, that's heading towards 5 years for me that my Corrado has been off the road now. Rob I hope you make the right decision that's right for you, don't feel pressured either way :thumbleft: Hope this helps Si

Hi Rob, sorry to hear your dilemma as regards your Corrado, if it's just the gasket that is letting water through, there's one sealant that is fantastic I know of, and it's called Tiger Seal, it honestly is great stuff, and should sort out your water leak. I've used it before many times and it's always sorted out my body work leaks, that I had on other cars over the years. Just to warn you Rob this Tiger Seal is a very strong adhesive/sealant, so once you apply it to both sides of gasket it'll stay bonded on, believe me it's strong stuff. As an extra precaution you could smear the sealant over the gap, between the bulkhead and plastic cowling vent, what I mean is then there's no chance of any water getting in. Plus you might find you get a smell of the sealant coming through into cab, when you operate the fan blower, but this won't last for long, possibly a few weeks ? Price wise it's £8 to £13 depending where you purchase from, I think Halfords sell it plus is possibly on eBay. Hope this helps Si

To be honest the only replacement/s I purchased are from SPRINTER53 who's a member on here. They look bang on but it's recommended that you use LED bulbs with them. A few years ago there was a company in the USA that was selling replacement Bosch spec lens for the later type Corrado front fogs. I think a few people from this Forum purchased a few, also possibly Edition38 members when it was active were obtaining those lens. But something happened to the seller he started to keep funds and not send the items out, I can't remember now what the guys company was called, but he was selling from his website and EBay I think. Think he got closed down or band from selling on Ebay, there's a thread/post about it all, somewhere on this Forum I believe. Anyway good find if they're the Corrado lens, and Happy New Year Chris. The Slide guide pins possibly are £8 to £12 for a set per side. Pad carrier complete with slide guide pins are £25 to £50 for aftermarket ones, but for OEM from Classic Parts or through Heritage, are something like £150 each. The only part number/item that I think is obsolete now is 357 615 125B All the others listed in above posts I believe are still available. Hope this helps Si

Hello there, according to ETKA it's listed as below: Protective boot/sleeve set for guide pin Part number 8E0 698 470B Slide guide pin with pad carrier (up to 1991) up to VIN 50-M-027-000 Part number 857 615 125 Slide guide pin with pad carrier (after 1991) after VIN 50-M-027-001 Part number 357 615 125C You might find a set of slide guide pins on eBay, or if you enter part numbers into Google it should hopefully show you other options. Hello there, if you're serious about wanting one of these outer window scraper rubber seals, there's a thread on this Forum that most members on here have posted up their interest, admittedly they want a pair. There's a possibility that VW Classic Parts in Germany will do another batch run of these window scraper rubber seals, if there's enough interest ? Link below to the thread in question http://the-corrado.net/showthread.php?108037-Window-scraper-Remanufacture Like I say if you add your interest on there it'll hopefully help, in showing Classic Parts that there is a demand for these items. Many thanks Si

No worries. I'd speak to VW Heritage as they might have stock of the mount bracket you're after, looks like the MK2 Golf uses the same bracket but part number is slightly different. Part number 191 199 273 cost new £15 to £18 in stock Fits the (KR) 1.8 16v Golf but should also fit the (PG) G60 The secondhand ones for the Corrado go for stupidly expensive prices on Ebay. Si

Hello mate, I think you might have the wrong engine mount bracket on there, as part number 1H0 199 273D comes up as VR6 on ETKA. VR6 Corrado engine mount bracket according to ETKA Part number 1H0 199 273D with manual gearbox https://www.ecstuning.com/b-genuine-volkswagen-audi-parts/engine-mount-bracket-front-no-longer-available/1h0199273d/ Part number 1H0 199 273C with automatic gearbox (difference of at least 1/2" between this 273C and 273D) For all 4 cylinder Corrado's the engine mount bracket should be as follows: Part number 357 199 273 with manual gearbox https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/VW-Passat-B3-9A-Kr-Engine-Bracket-Mount-357199273/292818857955?hash=item442d5d2fe3:g:~nYAAOSwJihcq5Dg Part number 357 199 273A with automatic gearbox Hope this helps Si

Hi Toby, that's great news about keeping this Forum going. Much appreciated. Also regarding logging on issues BAFF who's a member on here can't log on, he text me roughly 2 weeks ago and I sent you a PM on the same day. Many thanks Si
-
I've got a few of these spare, but they're old used one's still in fairly good shape, let me know if you require one to be sent to you in the post, so you can show the engineering/machinist companies your in correspondence with potentially. I can do the same thing down here on the south coast of UK, and ask my local precision engineering/machinist companies, I could also ask the guy who fabricated my alloy fuel surge tank, as he's got access to a full machine shop. Send me a PM if you want the bolt ? Hope this helps Si

Hello mate, I've seen you've posted up on your other thread about not needing another (9A) fuel metering head, have you had any joy in tracing the hot running issue. http://the-corrado.net/showthread.php?110333-Wanted-metering-head-2-0l-16v-9a Si

Hello there, yes the parts guy at your local VW Dealership is correct they need to be high tensile bolts, I believe they should be minimum 8.8 high tensile bolts. Also the OEM bolts for the gearbox are flanged bolts, some possibly have a shoulder and others will be threaded right up to head of bolt, like I say don't go any lower than 8.8 high tensile, otherwise the bolt could snap, or the bolt threads could strip as it'll be too weak. Link to ETKA for OEM gearbox bolt part numbers: https://volkswagen.7zap.com/en/rdw/corrado/cor/1991-76/3/300-80000/ Link below for VW OEM bolts from original manufacturer in Germany, if you take note of the bolts you require from the ETKA link, and type them into the search option on the AV Auto Parts Ltd bolt link, it might give prices. https://vwsupply.co.uk/car-parts-detailed/part/6516 Hope this helps Si
