  1. There may even be that, but it's still early days. Apart from that it's a question of being very diplomatic with Karmann at the mo', as they're going through rough times themselves. Tempest
  2. PM me, should be free tonight, and desperate to get the Rado out again (hasn't been moved since the MK meet end of Jan.). Hope your Rado's "diseases" aren't contageous on other Rados  Otherwise I'd also gove Vince a quick ring and ask for a bit advice. It could be that they just need to slacken off a belt a wee bit. Tempest
  3. Yup, lucky. Had a similar experience in my Mk1 Rocco, that I took out last March (as it was my birthday ) for a good spin on the 3-lane A46 leading out of Coventry. Saw this Jag in my rear view wanting to overtake, went to the middle lane, slowed down a bit, only to relaise that he didn't want to overtake. Ultimately he did, revealing that heart-aching text "P O L I C E" along the side of his Jag, but I had already slowed down for quite some time, he just stayed in front of me for a bit more (having given me a good look at whilst slowly passing me - you could see his "Gosh, that's a nice Mk1 Rieger-Rocco"-look in his face ), and ultimately turned off onto the M40 :-) Tempest
  4. My US-G60 did the same, till I fitted a new oil cap, problem gone. Tempest
  5. Mk1s all the way for me, of course preferably Mk1 Roccos that is. But I wouldn't say no to a tidy Mk1 Golf, as it, too, was styled by Italdesign, who penned the all time classic Mk1 Rocco, and a few more cars. Tempest
  6. I'm about to contact the seller again, as he still owes me 2 sets of red/clears that have already been paid for. I'm also about to bundle in some more smoked (2, hopefully), so yeah, if you can get payment to me asap (see PM), I should be able to get you a set of clear/reds. Tempest
  7. Just have a German driving licence like me, learn to speak German like a native, have your steering wheel on the correct side (i.e. left hand side ), and you shouldn't have any problems with the coppers and the following polite phrase: "Was wollen Sie? Ich verstehe leider kein Englisch.", and you should be OK with your fake German plates and stickers  Tempest
  8. Sorry to go OT myself, but couldn't resist pointing out that it should be: "Es ist eine Passat-Sache - Sie würden das eh nicht verstehen!" Interesting site, shame again, that they can't spell Niedersachsen, Baden-Württemberg, they spelt Bayern correctly  Tempest
  9. Well, for me the old 5-pot TQ already does it now that my business colleague has allowed me take his S4 estate for a spin back in December. Brutal that thing, simply brutal :-) Tempest
  10. Not counting the aftermarket imported Rados like my US-spec G60 (which funnily enough went from the US to Germany first - US Forces soldier), I suppose  Tempest
  11. Is the boot itself crumpled in any way? The reason I ask, is that's what rescued my Mk1 Rocco back in November 2002, when I was leaving Utterly Veedubberly in Donnington, when some idiot Nissan driver rear-ended me (he was chatting to the mrs, and didn't see me brake in time and come to a complete halt, 2 seconds later ... BANG! still remember it well ). On my Mk1, the rear panel (not the lower valence), tail lights, Rieger GTO rear skirt were damaged, not the bootlid, not the boot area itself, and, yes I had just changed insurance companies so that I now had an agreed valuation. They had to repair that one. I'm sure that yours with the right approach is also still salvageable, but it's going to be a fight with the insurance company (my God, how I fought back in November and December 2002 for my Mk1, but that's what I hold dear, and I wasn't going to give that up). Yup, would agree on the whiplash issue. I went to my GP straight away complaining of mild headaches (which did exist, BTW), stiff and paibnful neck (which was true, BTW), and ultimately again once the legal part of the insurance got hold of the potential of a whiplash kicked into gear, and set the ball rolling, resulting in a nice pay-out of £1200. Not a lot, given the risk that you might be injured for the rest of your life, can't pursue your job etc. Tempest
  12. I've never had any misting or steaming up problems with my In.Pros. What I did do (don't know whether it made any difference) is smear a little grease along the rubber seals before applying the lights to my Rado :-) Tempest
  13. Compression on each pot on a G60 should be between 8 and 12 bar with a permissile difference between all cylinders of 3 bar. Both JimsG60 and my G60 fitted the bill nicely, returning between 10 and 12 bar when we did a little compression check last summer :-) Tempest
  14. Last chance for any additoinal tail lights ... anyone? The faulty/damaged set will be sent back tomorrow, once it has arrived (end of this week), the remaining 2 sets of clear/red will be sent to me, provided that stocks over in Germany have been replenished again ;-) Just to keep you informed. Otherwise keep the piccies of your newly fitted In.Pros coming :-) Tempest
  15. Me, I'll go for that Mk1 Rocco anytime. It was stunning! I've seen that one in the flesh at BFV 2004. Good show, crap weather, summed it up, luckily those cars were inside. Tempest
  16. Yes, all smoked sets have left, but can take between 3 and 5 working days to arrive (I hope). Tempest
  17. Tss, fancy a Rocco-fanatic getting one of those, let alone drive it. It would go down a hoot at Roadstar 2005, of course. "Lads, set fire to this thing, oh and while you're at it, get the steaks and veggieburger on the grille!" Tempest
  18. Don't need one, as my Mk2 Storm Rocco's Powerflow exhaust already pops like mad (the garage fitting it had warned me ) all by itself, and the Milltek on my Rado does a hlaf-way decent job in the popping department as well. Moral of the story: Buy a decent car with a decent exhaust system, and you don't need gizmos like that. Tempest
  19. I suppose you mean that horrible black square plastic box sitting at the charger output, to which the boost pipe leading to the intercooler is connected? Yup, nasty thing, it's the silencer, consists of 2 halfs with a gasket inbetween. Best get rid of the thing and replace it with an RS outlet. Oh, and getting that thing off is fun as well, there's a bolt in the centre of that silencer holding it to the charger outlet. May require some swearing to take the silencer off (I just broke mine open in the middle to better get my ratchet onto that centre bolt, followed by a long toss away of the silencer box  Tempest
  20. Not guilty, as I just blatantly copied this from another VW-forum  Tempest
  21. Yes, it's true, see here: http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=4524659901 Now go and  Tempest
  22. Looks sweet :-), and nope, I kept behind the damaged set ;-) More piccies anyone? Or do I have to show off mine again (tail lights, that is) Tempest
  23. Not long, couple of days at best. Just had a reply from the German seller. He'll send out 2 new sets as soon as he gets new ones in from In.Pro. We've completely exhausted his stocks :-)) Apologies again to those, who are affected by the clear/reds being damaged/not arrived yet. You WILL get them, though. Tempest
  24. Had my charger pushing out oil, too, back in November 2004. I didn't hesitate and contacted G-Werks before any major damage would occur to the charger. Other than that, main things have already been mentioned re: fuel consumption: Change the blue temp-sender, and possibly the Lambda-probe (mine went in quite a spectacular way, when my Rado started emitting all sorts of black smoke from the exhaust, died whilst idling, and needed revving like crazy to even get it home again (running way too rich, obviously ). That's when a Lambda-probe is completely shot, BTW  But they do go out rather gradually over time, i.e. their response time between switching from an oxygen-rich to an oxygen-poor signal and back again gets longer and longer, before the thing completely fails. Tempest
  25. OK folks, as I'm trying to get a replacement set for the damaged set of clear/red as well as 1 more set (I ordered 11, 10 sets only arrived), I was thinking of re-opening the group-buy for those who've missed the first order of 11. This should sweeten my seller in Germany a bit as well in dealing with the 2 outstanding clear/red sets (replacement for the damaged one and the 11th set). I have PMed those that have contacted me and had missed the first shipment, to see whether you're still interested. If anyone else is still interested in a set let me know asap by PM. Tempest
