  1. Can I have a go on the mille ....... please? I know I'm a cheeky sod! Nearest I ever had was the 'widowmaker' - TL1000SV chopped it in for something comfier a couple of years ago. See sig.
  2. Dunno about the C alternator, but many don't properly kick in and start charging until engine is running at above idle speed, say 1.5-2k RPM. As long as it holds 13.5-14V with everything on at this sort of engine speed, I can't really see much of a problem. But then someone who knows this car better than I will probably be along and say I'm talking rubbish. :)
  3. About the time an interior light would flatten the battery, favorite is the light in the boot - check it isn't stuck on.
  4. I've had this happen and it had a really weird cause. I used to pull relay 99 from the fuse/relay panel and then replace it and all would be fine for ages. Relay 99 has absolutely nothing to do with the engine - it controls the windscreen wipers! Eventually sussed out that I'd an intermittent connection on the rear of the fuse board, playing with that relay must have flexed the board enough for contact to be made!. I'd have thought mine was so weird a cause as to be unique but hey it's a Corrado! (mines a coil pack if that makes a difference)
  5. I haven't forgot you, I'm supposed to get my lead back on Tuesday night if mate remembers to bring it. If you ain't sorted it by then send me a PM and I'll look at it for you.
  6. Rev counter will read wrong,it will underread by about a third. This'll probably mess up the computer readouts as well. I think the rest will be ok.
  7. Blooming heck, that's fairly mashed. Think you may just have found the cause of the misfire.
  8. I'll happily scan it for you, but I need to get my lead back off a mate who I lent it to first. Where abouts are you? I live near Preston and work based near Newton-le-Willows, but work mobile so usually around the Manchester area or N-l-W somewhere.
  9. Can't play vid for some reason, and know nothing about that motor, but from your description you may have an air leak on the inlet side somewhere or choke/cold start is sticking on. In both cases ballsing up the air/fuel ratio.
  10. Don't suppose his brakes failed?
  11. That sounds like a snapped cable. I'm assuming it has the earlier cable driven clocks?
  12. As an emergency fix for the MOT, can you put a 'road angel' or something similar on the dash so you've got a valid speed readout? Is the speedo even checked for MOT? I can't see it in the MOT list. (On thread a few below this)
  13. Had mine leak on the badges and the tailgate hinges, there's a gasket where the tailgate bolts to the roof, that had failed on mine and bucket loads of water used to get in.
  14. You don't have an immobiliser active when you're trying to read it do you? Some of them interrupt the communications between PC and car.
  15. You sure it's not the Lambda? I've tried unplugging the MAF on mine a while ago 'out of interest' and found the engine hiccoughed a little when it was unplugged, but then continued to idle as normal. You might get a better response if you ask a mod to move the topic to Engine Bay.

    door mirrors

How do you remove the mirror glass from the door mirror? I thought it'd just clip off but I've levered as much as I dare at it won't budge. I know this has probably been done before, but the search ain't working for me.
  17. Don't plates have to be transfered whilst the donor vehicle has a valid MOT?. If it's scrapped with the plate still registered to it the plate dies along with the car. I may be wrong but thought I'd read this somewhere at some time.
  18. Tried to, but couldn't get my hands on one quick enough. If you think about it £50 second hand plus MOT retest fee plus no car whilst 2nd hand one arrives and is fitted isn't that much of a saving.
  19. It had a full service plugs, drive belt (water pump), strip and unseize calipers etc. It was the headlight that crippled the bill £144+VAT :(
  20. Dunno, DVLA records show it's taxed until the end of this month, but not currently insured.
  21. I had water coming in a while back, it turned out to be the rear hatch gasket had failed where it bolts to the roof. I had wet seatbelt though as the water was tracking down the gubbins behind the panels and dripping onto the belt. Mine was on passenger side though so it may enter the cabin in a different place if the drivers side has let go.
  22. Ok so it had a service as well, but it cost me £536.55 at my local independent garage. Ouch! MOT work it needed: New headlight as old one had had the back punched out - looks like an old dear has bumped it whilst I've been parked Steering column top mount bracket insecure 2 brake pipes and a brake hose. Me skint now, especially as the insurance is due next month.
  23. My preference is 15W40 semi-synthetic
  24. Probably been covered loads, but I couldn't find anything relevant so here goes, I need to get my wheels refurbed cause they've started looking naff, they're nothing special, just the original speedlines. Just wondering if anyone can recommend any decent places to get them done around Preston, Lancs that preferably will lend a set of wheels so the car isn't immobile for the duration.
  25. What he's had to do is use an unknown auto box and converter picked up cheap from fleabay as his had cracked around the torque converter (or somewhere)and was dumping lots of oil. The 'new' box has knackered fluid in and needs replacing to see if the box is a good 'un, hence the requirement to use cheaper oil in it.
