    Thats for the recaro seats which are power assisted. Does it make a difference if its the normal heated seats. I am doing a similar thing at the moment as well!

I will give it a go, but I should look out for a second hand one anyway! When you say put the two metal bits INSIDE the spring what do yo mean does it go ] then the spring [ ? Thanks

    Ok so after a beer I thought I would have a quick look at getting the cowling off from my steering wheel surround. MISTAKE. I got the indicator stalk off but when I pulled at the MFA stalk a spring and two small pieces of metal (like in a this sort of shape '[' ) came off. Does anyone know where these go? If anyone has the ETKA shorts maybe this shows how they go back together???? Please help me, I thought this job would be easy :cry: Thanks

    So your saying the problem could be with my heater box (which I presume is what goes round the heater matrix?) Well that might be ok. I am taking the dash out anyway(halfway through). I will try to get some pics up to show people what I am dealing with. I presume a heater box is cheaper than the control panel!!

    How much did that cost mate if you dont mind me asking? What did you use and where did you get it etc etc? :lol: No problems, I paid £80 for it. Second skin Damplifer.     Some people say you can do it with the dash in, other say you cant. Its not much more work to get the dash out so just do it. Im doing mine at the moment. (dash half in my front room). With you having air con I would say you def have to take the dash out. Get some megs (or other brand) all purpose cleaner and/or a wet and dry on it. Either way its going to take a bit of work to get it out.

    if you search some of the posts on heater matrixes I think the general conclusion is that VAG ones are now a stronger mk3 revised part that doesn't require the recall by-pass valves (as fitted to the 4 pots at least), the pattern ones are generally OK though, worth pricing them up though, the VAG one should have a 2 yr warranty I think. Yeah I read that, I just wondered if the gsf ones had caught up as well? I will just go to VAG, i dont intend to do it again!

    I wouldnt worry, probably soemthing to do with the movement that the engine produces and when it goes faster the engine produces less lateral movement so the gearstick doesnt shake as much.

    Ok so my heater control panel wouldnt go turn apart from to blow onto the windscreen os the feet. So i thought it was broken. Got the cables off and the heater dials turn fine. I looked on kevs guide on WIKI and it shows a metal tab that usually breaks. Well mine hasnt got one. Is it just the cables could have been damaged? Those that have changed theirs, did yours turn fine when it was removed from the car? All the internals seem to turn ok. Thanks

    PHEW!! Thought £300 was a bit much, but shows how much VW overcharge when I just accpeted that they might charge that much! GSF order going through this afternoon. Is it worth getting the heater matrix from GSF as well? Or should I go to VAG?
