  1. They don't fit the cable management though - fairly pointless tbh on a standardish engine
  2. Tempted to order that kit for £20 as i've been meaning to do this for a while... I assume the Beetle ones fit the 12mm Corrado TRE's ok? How easy will it be to drill the hub carriers - cast iron aren't they? tough and also brittle?
  3. FFS - booked a hotel room for sat night too, great!
  4. Yeah the bottom ball joint design changes radically between base and plus... Base uses a pinch bolt to hold it in the hub/bearing carrier but the VR6 uses a nut on the end of the BJ.
  5. Here's the thread I started a while back.... really ought to get round to this, makes so much sense! viewtopic.php?f=23&t=72747
  6. £22 ain't bad mate, they we're around that new when you could buy them! (The primered ones are £12) Be interesting to see if the Magnex will fit to the existing system easily or not - If now I know Eric has a good Powerflow dealer he uses... I would get some of those heavy duty hangers from VAG to go on and also a load of headshield clips, if the sheild has rotted at all the you can fix by using a large washer of some sort.
  7. Yeah, I was thinking about this too Neil.... providing the fan sounds like it running at the correct speed and the car is warming up quickly as it should then this is what might be up.... The VR6 has a 9.5 Ltr cooling capacity (10Ltr on an Auto!) which is almost twice what a 4 Cyl car has... becuase of this and the extra water ways on the VR6 engine, one of the fuctions of the Aux water pump is to push water in and out of the matrix... Now on your car the feed pipe to the matrix blew after we picked it up and I remembver it just ripped the pipe in half, now it's not happened again and may have just been an old pipe but I suspect that your Aux pump may not be working as effectivly as it should - maybe broken impeller due to old water pump debris? Maybe worth a look mate and also see how hot the feed and return pipes are getting and if water is circulating or not. The other thing it could be is one of those eBay £15 Heater Matrixes - they have about have the capacity of the VAG ones
  8. Probably should check the dialogue system first to see how many times it broke down for the first owner - nearly every VR6 history I have looked at has several breakdowns / trips back to the dealer for warranty work. Nice idea though - depends on the person, might be really pleased to hear it's still around!
  9. Yep, stainless is the way forward and yeah the new plastic bits are pennies from VW - just push them downwards to get the old ones out.
  10. Yep, just get the right stuff from VW - don't use cheap silicon!
  11. Yeah track rod ends are all the same - obviouly the length of the rod just differs between base and plus suspension. Been wanting to do this for a while Kev and have some spare 4cyl Hubs - just hope it's not another one of these aftermarket upgrades that lasts no time at all due to crap parts quality - rose joint won't last, needs to be a proper booted ball joint in that location, even pattern TRE's don't last becuase of badly sealing boots.
  12. There will be some play when it's jacked up as that's the way VW top mounts work but it shouldn't be that bad and clonk. Tyre deffo looks like it's been rubbing and should probably be changed - I would take it to somewhere like Kwik-Fit when you can just for a free diagnosis
  13. Still 15 places to be had - come on, lets get some more Corrado's there!
  14. The Peter Russek manual is also good for the VR6 engine - nice and cheap too - £6.50 in WH Smiths
  15. Yeah was a nightmare... Chreers John for sorting the list - I didn't know weather to keep posting or not as I posted twice and my name disappeared 3 posts later both times. I don't know why you just don't post to say you're going and a Mod updates the master list - far easier!
  16. Yeah it's just called Quantum Synta now but should still be a silver container... The fully synth Gold is now Platinum that also replaced the PD Diesel oil.
  17. Well done - I'd have been tempted to take the comp anyway at that price though - would be good for spraying small stuff as it was oil free!
  18. Yeah same 'late' MK3 style hoses you already have
  19. Give Wayne Schofield a call... Phone: +44 (0)1706 651000 Fax: +44 (0)1706 650346 Email: [email protected] Website: www.chipwizards.co.uk CHIPWIZARDS Unit 1, Moorhouse Fold Rochdale, Lancashire OL16 4DH
  20. SIP Parts Washer from Halfords (Was £49.99) http://www.halfords.com/webapp/wcs/stor ... yId_165727 Air Ratchet Set (Was £61.99) http://www.halfords.com/webapp/wcs/stor ... yId_165727 They are also selling small SIP oil free air compressors also for £10.00 but you'll be lucky to find one now! (Was £139.99) http://www.halfords.com/webapp/wcs/stor ... =IOV4PLPZ1
  21. Please stick to your original thread next time - there is nothing to be gained by starting a new topic. The motor is easy to swap in situ, just note the position of the crank, 1x 13mm bolt hold this on and I think there are 3x 10mm bolts holding the motor on plus the electrical connection.
  22. This is mostly caused by frozen handbrake cables mate... mine were still freezing with the MK4 calipers, changed the cables and they've been fine since
  23. You need Carriers and Calipers from a 280mm car - ie a Corrado G60 / VR6 / Golf MK3 GTI / Seat Ibiza etc Then 4 stud G60 discs and Pads.
