  1. Yeah, most Golfs I had were on original rear discs and bearings up to around 100k... 17 Years is good though! It's crap pattern parts that leads people to believe that you need to change discs / bearings every 2-3 years...
  2. Belt dressing is the stuff to use but are your belts actually Genuine / Conti-tech? If you are running a smaller puller then you will need a slightly smaller belt or it will slip btw! Gates belts are ok but don't last long on G60's before they get noisey - also check the 2 plastic idler pulleys, if these are original then they are probably past there best!
  3. By doing this you are pushing cold hydraulic fluid around manually with no pump assistance - no wonder it's heavy! That's a lot different than driving a car with a manual rack... I think the PAS on Corrado's is just setup perfect, would never remove it, especially on a G60 or VR!
  4. Deffo get the genuine bushes (£60) - use Febi ones and they will need doing again in 3-4 years... And £120 is a bargain!
  5. It's a double depth relay so the most likely one to slip out... As Jim says it's worth re-seating everything in the fuse box to clean the contacts.
  6. Hmmm... it's TES that supply AMD/BBT and they don't have the best reputation I'm afraid... Although it sounds like it did work for a bit on the other guys car so maybe just something got unseated or seized as you say...
  7. Not in Oxfordshire but Stealth racing are not far (Southam) and there is also DG Autotech
  8. Hi there - just try your local autoglass place, they are made by SEKURIT with a green tint and the ones they supply with be the same just without the VW logo - much cheaper!
  9. What car is it?? Don't drive it until fixed...car fires are not fun
  10. Hmmm - at least your getting somewhere, where did the recon head come from??
  11. Good call Toadie - I'd have never thought of that! Makes sense though and would effect all cylinders
  12. The Tyvek ones Halfords sell fit so well and they cost peanuts and would be fine in a garage but if left outside they can blow and start to scuff the car slightly.
  13. Cheers mate - I do have a couple of spares but not leather ones - would be good if he could trim over one of these though as it would make it a bit thicker like the newer golfs!
  14. The flash fast when a bulb is out because of the low resistance on that circuit. Could be an incorrect bulb but as they seemed to get faster then I think it's a battery or alternator issue - may have just been charging still.
  15. Apparently he's now fitted some 'tasteful' blue neon tubes along the sills...
  16. Supercharged

    Relay 30

Yep, must be an old ECU relay...
  17. Be careful - They are easy enough to remove but the only way to install them is to fit them to the glass before it's fitted so you need to get the glass out to replace! Warm soapy water will help get it out but as above, in the weather you are far more likely to rip it with it being so cold.
  18. Yeah should be fine as they didn't change the pigtail size on MK3's like on the Corrado. I'd match them with a set of VR / GTI Gas shocks or Koni's maybe - ie shouldn't be used with standard shocks
  19. Loving the 50% failure rate... lol! One registered in 1974? One in 97 - P or R plate One in 2000 - X registration !?!
  20. In total, 10,155 Corrados were sold in the UK. (Includes LHD models) So just over 3k sounds about right... just a shame that good cars are getting broken by the day!
  21. Always buy these from VAG - The ones Eurocarparts and GSF supply are rubbish.
  22. Eurocarparts sell then - they are an ATE supplier but why not just buy from VW? GSF also used to do them - really don't know what the problem is, the slave is a fairly generic MK3 Golf / Passat part!
  23. Pete - No, the reason being the lock housing is different between adjustable and non-adjustable.
  24. They are about £30 now, best to get VW to look them up as that's the only place you can buy them anyway.
  25. Yep, 2 10mm nut things, 2 hose clips and the electrical connector.
