Hmmm... right genuine caliper and late handbrake cable - The gap on the caliper is just over 4mm to let the cable over The bit on the end of the cable is just over 8mm Think you issue is a combo of both parts but maybe new genuine handbrake cables will fix? If not maybe get the garage to modify something slightly - not rocket science!

Unexpectedly good service at local Mercedes dealer..
Supercharged replied to Jim's topic in General Car Chat
Yeah, also heard good things about Merc but I guess they can afford to employ a better class of people but at least they realise how important the customer base is! VW are usually pretty good but you often here of stories on forums with people given the run around with parts and especially for older cars... It's a shame some of the franchises are letting the brand down. TPS are superb though, ordered a load of service bits just after lunchtime on Saturday and they were on my desk by 9am this morning, all correct and packaged fine. -
Hello - yeah should be fine... Any pics?? I have a handbrake cable and a new caliper in the garage so will go and have a look after tea...

Which coilovers do you use on your really bumpy local roads?
Supercharged replied to Leonard's topic in Drivetrain
I'd stick to standard then with 17's or use Coilovers with 15's... You'd be suprised how good a standard setup is, mine is great on standard shocks, H&R springs, all new VW bushes, topmounts with TT rear WB bushes and 16" P zero's - handling is superb! -
Sounds ok actually, Corrado's tend to need a decent pressure at the front, I'd run the backs 3 PSI lower. Depends on tyres really and in particular the sidewalls, 40 profile is fairly low so you don't want to damage the wheels easily

Front Wiper Linkage Parts Update 07-03-09 - with Pics
Supercharged replied to daves16v's topic in Exterior
Interesting... I bought the lot before as it's fairly cheap but when I stripped it I only found 2 parts were worn (the crank and another bit) so just re-ordered these... -
The calipers are different castings... they are both Girling 54's so you don't need to change the master cylinder but the G60/VR6 ones are wider to take the slightly thicker disc and pads... (Pads are 19mm rather than 16mm on the valvers)
-
Yeah, only the 16V ones are different - that one fits all petrol MK3's too

Hi, the fuel pump should run on with the rad fan when the engine is switched off to stop fuel getting to warn in the rail and help with warm starts. Do you know if this is happening? - there is a switch coming off the small fuel pipe at the gearbox side of the fuel rail that controls this.
-
Right, you need Corrado G60 discs (Same as 4-stud Ibiza) and Pads (Pads same as VR6) You need the Calipers from either a G60 or Corrado VR6 or Seat Ibiza as above with the matching carriers.

Yep, deffo mate - all the plugs connect up fine as far as I can remember, much better way of doing it and the late doors have the correct brackets for the door cards too!
-
That will be fine, the 1.4's tend to use a bit too so nothing really to worry about!

It's only very late VR6 cables that are different and have a spring like end. -
Yeah I've always set iTunes to rip in MP3 at 160Kbps Very useful as car cd player plays MP3 files so I now create playlists using Genius from my Library

£7 with trade discount! Although that's actually equivalent to around 130 Billion US dollors I think.
-
Could well be a blown injector driver on the ECU board - common digifant fault sometimes caused by people not disconnecting when changing a clutch. Maybe try your ECU in another car first...
-
I feel violated :(
-
Did you prime the oil pump before fitting?
-
Deffo mate - will be too heavy with it all built up...
-
Yeah, as Phile says the Genuine Hella ones are the only ones that last more than a couple of years
-
^ No it's NOT!!! - all VW's should sit mid gauge when warm at around 90 degrees If it's going up to 110c then it's likely that the fan is only running at the higher temp range Probably due to a faulty thermoswitch on the radiator.

Have you got an uprated loom fitted David? If so it maybe a relay issue...
-
Yeah maybe use the correct stuff on the lenses and thinners might 'melt' the plastic or pull the original colours out...
