  1. Just buy a new slave, not expensive and new part is alloy with a plastic sleeve so won't rot.
  2. If you want proper bells and rotors then it becomes expensive but these calipers are $120 each and can be used with standard 280mm discs, pads are cheap, just the carriers need to be sourced...
  3. I leave it there for holidays as I can't be dealing with hirecars... You couldn't give it a quick wash and wax could you?
  4. But then it could be an AAA bored to 2.9... how can you tell without lifting the head?
  5. Weird! - I'd find the engine number and code first.... VW changed alot of VR lumps under warranty and say this was changed in 98/99, it may have got the newer tensioners as all replacement VR's not come with the MK4 parts... still would expect it to be duplex tho...
  6. Hello Carps!! I have been looking at these too from time to time... Considering your not in the UK I would get direct from the states - should save some £
  7. It will - if fitted then they will be tested Also remember Corrado's only have one rear bulb as standard!
  8. Yeah deffo not the switch! It's likely to be a relay stuck on - I reckon you have a really poor upgrade loom fitted as there should be a relay per side and it's unlikely for 2 to stick at the same time... Trace the wiring back from the lights to see if there are any relays, usually mounted close to the battery... With luck if the original looms not been butchered you can just take it out and go back to standard.
  9. Halfords sell them - go into the bike section, they are the same size as brake disc bolts, pack of 6 is £1
  10. Brown is always earth on VW's. Is it just one side you are having issues with? - reason being the passenger side loom comes across from the other side past the spoiler mech and the wires are not very well protected, if the mech has been out in the past and the wires have not been located back in the proper clips then you can get a short...
  11. If you've got play at the top then the bearing is part of the lock housing, take the cowling off and check the bolt holding it together is not loose, if it is then careful not to overtighten as it's easy to break the housing.
  12. £2 each from VW - i'd buy new ones
  13. Welcome to the forum, you need to read the diagnostic codes using VAGCOM before spending any money...
  14. I looked at a VR a few years ago on 290k miles - it was dead and needed every part of it replacing! My sisters VR is approaching 250k miles tho and still driving really well. My TDI chassis is on about 236k now - drives superb but really needs a re-shell
  15. LOL - I have to say I've never been to Stealth for that particular issue... I can't believe Dinkus or the Toad have not replied to this thread yet!
  16. Yeah good advice above, the VAG rubber are so much better than the GSF / ECP ones... As long as it's not a G60 you could try Powerflex poly hangers (Halfords) to hold it more secure, mine was absolutly awful until Stealth remounted it with these, it's still a poor fit but sounds great and no harsh vibrations, passed MOT the other day and the Powerflex hangers are showing no signs of wear at all after nearly 50k miles!
  17. ABS rings MK3 Carrier and standard caliper bolts MK4 Clip for the handbrake cable Maybe brake sheilds and stub axle bolts and bolt cover?
  18. As above, that solution looks ok for the track but it needs to be OE for road use... The BJ's need boots or you'll be changing them every year... this is the main problem with Corrado's, they seem to put so much more strain / wear on parts, especially when lowered that it's hard to find aftermarket solutions for things that actually last more than a year or two...
  19. Always best to post what year and model of car you have when asking for help...
  20. If that bottle's still sealed then it will be fine, never use fluid from a container that's been open for more that a few months VW supply DOT 4 and the VAG stuff seems pretty good tbh.
  21. In service mode the MPG is current not calculated over distance thats why it works... You need to sort your speed out - does the actual speedo work? What car do you have?
  22. Parts you want are - 1J0 615 423 / 424 Buy new if you can and paint as they corrode badly - look at any 10 year old MK4 Golf!
  23. Welcome to the forum, it's very close to the switch, remove the tray on the drivers side and trace the wiring back from there...
  24. I'd have another look in the morning - doesn't look too bad from the pics, I assume it his a post - the bumpers taken most ofthe force so it may be just new panel, bumper and spoiler... £1200's worth maybe but could be done much cheaper using second hand bits.
  25. Arrrghhh - Always park in gear regardless if it's on a hill or not!!! Shame but at least you're ok and it's not the Storm... Thats repairable but probably a write off in terms of economics, especially if the boot floor is bent...
