  1. I wouldn't use Plats on an old VR engine now... Bosch FR8LDC work well (and they are the correct plug for the engine) £1.75 each so at £10 for 6 I would change every year!
  2. Those serial to USB adapters are really flakey and difficult to drive - best to install on an old laptop or PCif you have one kicking around... Loose wheel bearings can cause sensor faults as can flakes of rust stickig to them (they are magnetic) but I would do a re-scan first to see what comes up.
  3. No  - I wouldn't have even opened this thread if I was at work... The Toad was also very disappointed
  4. Yeah ETKA assumes you buy that part which I am fairly sure is 3.2mm ID like most other VW vac pipes - this one has a white tracer. It's about £4 from any dealer and they should have a roll in stock, don't trust them to measure it tho! Also don't use silicon as it can collapse.
  5. Any VAG dealer mate or someone with access to order parts from them like ECP / GPC etc
  6. I assume the garage would have cleared them and re-scanned if they know what they are doing (did they tell you to drive it and bring it back?) What did vag com actually say ?? Yeah Yan isn't blessed with ABS, the BPPS is just another sensor that attaches to the servo and contains a plunger, I changed mine to cure a similar fault but it turned out to be the ECU, part is about £50 but i'd try and swap the ecu first for a known working one - will need to be similar (ie traction control or not) to work.
  7. I always thought you had to pull the FP relay too but maybe the ignition trans plug stops the injection?
  8. Re the alt, if the fan is bent just buy a shiney new one, I remember Bananaman's one flying off at speed and denting the bonnet so worth replacing anyway! (G60's have a cover but 16V's don't despite the external fan)
  9. Did you clear the codes and re-scan?? (the rear sensors will come up if your fron wheels are moving and the rears aren't - ie RR session) ABS ECU is in pass footwell - opposite to the bonnet release pull BPPS is under the master cyl on the servo.
  10. Ok, have you had a look in the engine bay to see if anything is restricting movement - might just be dirt, a cable or broken clip stuck under the shift tower etc?
  11. Does the stick push down ok?
  12. Yeah thats normal, you can cut out the blank to fit one tho but be aware there is no reflector fitted on that side so it will look slightly different... ... if your bothered just order the same side from a US spec car - was about £17 from VAG when I got one but this was 4-5 years ago!
  13. Yep - sounds very like the ISV is not coming on or the throttle switch that controlls it is not workig or the cable is to tight etc... Unplugging the ISV should make a difference when the car is running, if not then your fault is one of the above.
  14. Eh?? good thread title too :?
  15. Elephant tape is the stuff to use dudes...
  16. Not got ETKA at work but they are 6N Polo / Ibiza caps I think... do those part numbers not work then as they look ok?
  17. I know GSF sell the 4cyl (12mm) ones cheap and they are proper VAG, not sure about VR ones tho... If you go to VW they won't need the part number - that bolt fits virtually all cars with plus suspension
  18. That price includes the exchange surcharge - rrp is £155 + vat but if you get decent discount it should be more like a ton...
  19. Hmmm - Pitstop are no longer trading either so you might have to look at the Jabba option...
  20. Switch is a float type - a plastic pin comes out the top which may be sticking - you will see what I mean... I have a spare if needed.
  21. Guys, just use Irwin Bolt grippers on the carrier bolts if they are bad, takes seconds to get them off... no need for heat etc!!
  22. Manky old brake fluid won't help but as above I reckon it's electrical - probably an earth fault or voltage leaking back somewhere...
