  1. That sounds correct mate - they are fairly good considering how fast they are but never designed for sitting in traffic - the engine is always running the charger so it's like having an extra (massive) alternator to drive, even worse if it's also air-con! Heat is also an issue - they run up to 50% hotter than say an 8v GTi engine so heatsoak occurs very easily at low speeds. The cold weather at the mooment is great for performance but also remember the car will be on the warm-up / fuel enrichment map for longer so again using more juice.
  2. Supercharged

    Fuel guage

What sort of a question is that  ? Just fill it to the brim and see if it shows full... roughly 330 miles later it will be in the red
  3. The only time I have actually seen a mech fail is where the plastic tube (goes up to guide the spolier) cracks and the metal cable guide pops out on one side - may be fixable with a cable tie but if not it's new mech time...
  4. Probably a broken tooth inside, the recon ones are just checked for a certain tollerence and new seals are put in... some will last years some will be a false ecomony :( That Febi fluid is identical to the VW stuff as far as I can see - the VAG stuff is slightly cheaper tho after a bit of discount so tend to stick with it...
  5. Hi mate - yeah it's readily available but on back order... I wanted it for today but it's hopefully coming next week! GPC will do it for £160 + vat + postage (making it £200) so it was slightly cheaper thru my mate at the dealer but yeah the full rrp is £231 inc vat I think! The part number above is late G60 the early ones used a different one so I would check your chassis number with them before you order The only dealer in the country showing stock is Gilders in Rotheram, my mate phoned them to see if they'd transfer it and basically they couldn't be bothered with the hastle, I then called themthe next day to see if they'd sent it direct to me after a credit card payment and they wouldn't do anything on the price at all and said it would have to be collected - feckers!! I can see why VW dealers get such a bad rep with people like that!
  6. 14mm refers to the thread of the plug dude (M14) - the actual socket is 21mm
  7. Was it genuine (Bosch) and did you torque it correctly? How long has it been Pinking? could be a bad tank of fuel... Maybe go out with a 13mm ratchet spanner and back the dizzy off until it stops (mark it first with some tippex!)
  8. Got to agree with the Furks - my 4 year old FK's look awful and are starting to worry me with Riley recently breaking one of the anodised rings... They are better than the sub £500 coilovers and give good ride quality but at the end of the day, most of what FK produce is cheap tat... I think I will try KW's or Weitec maybe next time...
  9. Throttle cable not adjusted or switches not working?? Look at the above and see what happens when you unplug the ISV
  10. Thread resurection, just ordered this part at £160 + vat which fits the late G60 / 16V etc... I decided mine really is knackered as it has been since I got the car - might as well buy a new one while I can! Suprisingly rusty considering the crossmember below that holds the front engine mount almost comes up like new! Rubber bushes were fairly perished so replacing these along with all bolts etc.
  11. Prices change daily but currently it's £18.60 + Vat retail and you usually get a free filter etc if you ask, Trade is £9.12 + VAT Gone are the days of paying a quid a ltr at GTi Inters!
  12. £100 - 150 i'd say altho maybe a bit less if the calipers are manky / need refurb
  13. I've got one too, £35 from Halfords when they're on offer and fit like they are made for the Corrado!
  14. It's one where you need to push a button to release the socket (unlike a wobble extension) so you can't leave the socket stuck in the cyl head...
  15. I would change the ignition switch and FP + ECU relays as a start...
  16. Standard Halfords ones are fine (14mm) but you must use a locking extension bar - they do a Sparkplug service kit for about £20 which includes these, a ratchet and wire brush etc
  17. Yeah cheers mate - I actually did this the night before last - seems to be just a case of getting the right size screwdrivers as it was very well fixed in - new one went in ok tho!
  18. I think we've found the problem! Try a new genuine one and keep the other as a spare in the car...
  19. Yeah VW sell it in black foam rolls for a fiver - you have to cut to shape tho...
  20. Lee - it looks like it's been hit and pushed back, as Kev says the locators for the plastic tabs bend, they should be at roughly a right-angle to the slam panel, the other bit that bends too easily is the tab where the third screw locates, Corrado's really are the worst VW's for the way the headlights locate!! You need to whip the light unit out and have a look, new stainless steel self tappers are also a good idea - No. 10 by 16mm for the top two and 25mm for the middle iirc.
  21. Welcome to the forum, did you use a genuine belt?
  22. Welcome to the forum, it is under the car (same location as a MK3 Golf - Look under filler neck side rear wheel arch) If it's not been off for a while you may find the metal bracket is rather rusty, easiest thing to do is to replace this with the later plastic carrier as fitted to MK3's etc, make sure you get new bolts / clips while your at it...
  23. Yep - sounds wrong for a VR, maybe turn out ok tho if you get a refund and fit a cheaper one!
