So where does the heater current for the lambda come from?? Just wondering if there is a relay or control box or is it from the ECU??
-
Yeah - resistance increases with age so it under-reads meaning the fuel enrichment map will run for longer... Could be the above tho but just becuase of the weather - mine is taking 10 mins driving before the coolant and oil hit 90...

VW say sealed for life - I say every 4-5 years - maybe as often as things like cambelt etc.. Change it for the cheap VW first and see if it makes a difference, if so use it as a flush and stick redline MT90 in there - really helps with syncromesh type issues..

possibly the most boring VR6 question ever asked
Supercharged replied to bananawhip's topic in Engine Bay
I can't see it Kev - he's not really got the right build... -
Riley - I take it the fault occurs as the car gets warm? If so what happens if you let the fault show and then plug in a different BTS (a cold one) and just leave it hanging there in the engine bay... If it then returns to normal, hold the BTS against the cyl head until the fault re-appears... If the above happens then it proves the warm up map (fuel enrichment) is working fine but there is something wrong after it switches to hot running - ie Lambda or COPOT fault or something connected to these...
-
I'd say this is likely to be the MAP sensor dragging the timing back... maybe try a Rallye ECU if you know someone...
-
Altho i'm sure it will be fine, you can't really do this without invalidating your insurance...

You can't use silicon based fluids at all with VW's - particuarly the ABS system I believe... Halfords Dot 5.1 is the stuff to use - £3 a ltr with a trade card! Inky - as above, spongy brakes usually means air in the system - when was the fluid last changed?
-
Yeah I would...

Corrado Lambda Sensors - Bosch Part Numbers
Supercharged replied to ProdigalSon's topic in Engine Bay
Useful info there I have been meaning to stick in the WiKi for ages - I have the VR info too Around £50 + vat from GSF or any Bosch service centre. -
Late ones are obselete but luckily the early ones for the 55ltr tank and MK3 Golf - £13 each roughly...
-
I wouldn't pay much unless they are in very good condition of a low mileage car... My 5 year old ones (60k miles) look like they are about to fall apart...
-
Locking this - can you just 'revive' to the old thread rather than starting a new one and refering back!
-
Corrado VR6 discs should be almost flat in profile to account for the offset vs plus suspension I think the ones you have got are Passat VR6 with Base suspension (more of a top hat profile)
-
This may be the same problem with MK3 Golf door handles that was fixed in 98 just after production finished (ie the part was revised) Does the key turn with little or no resistance compared with the other doors? If so it's not the handle itself but the the hook at the end of the barrel thats broken...
-
Yep - if it's a genuine VW part (ie from the dealer) then it will have 2 years... I think the same goes for most stuff made by Bosch too!
-
 I'd say even if you've done it before a couple of times it would take more time than that to just strip all the bits off to get to the chains and built it back up again...
-
At 192k it could well need a new pump if original... Not trying to worry you but I wouldn't drive it until sorted (or at least until you've connected a pressure gauge!)
-
LOL TBH I hope Furki has got it as he is one of only a few people (along with the man who built it) that will look after it to a very high standard but also drive it properly too (ie actually use it and drive it like it should be driven!) 8)

Yeah - was going to credit card it over the phone but the guy seemed quite enthusiastic to get me in and look at some of the data they have...

Lucky but costly escape... UPDATED PICTURES
Supercharged replied to the delta force's topic in General Car Chat
Nice one - I'd say these cars are getting to the point where wishbones may as well be changed as it's more cost effective than just changing bushes but that subframe is the worst i've seen on any Corrado or MK2 Gold for that matter - I assume your car spent some time by the sea! Whats the front rad support and rear beam like? -
Wolsey in Ipswich wouldn't even take a deposit off me, absolutly useless in there, didn't have any details of the car or seem interested or enthusiastic in any way - I'm going to shoot up to Barnards one day next week as I had a good phone conversation with them this afternoon about it and it looks like they have some data altho nothing they can send out to customers yet... confirmed the deposit will be fully refundable though (£500)

Hi - it's a MK4 TDI engine on MK4 mounts (welded in) and driveshafts are custom to go from MK4-MK2 hubs and shorter than standard... I didn't actually do the swap but I have reciepts for litterally thousands of pounds worth of parts that were used... If you just want to add 6 spd to an 02A box tho Quaife do a kit...
-
We've all tried that but i'm sure the rest of the forum will agree when I say buy a Ford Ka :D Have you tried the wiper on the back?? maybe too long but worth a try...

Are you going to do this with selotape and blu-tac Dom or 'properly' using an electric soldering iron?
