  1. Yeah that middle one is what holds the crossmember itself on - you were lucky you did it right and supported the engine while removing the bumper! It's most likely broken, maybe as a result of a soggy front mount etc as the crossmember flexes, you need to under the top nut on the front mount and unhook the PAS pipe and maybe remove the brake air ducts to remove but it's fairly simple... Then it will be a case of trying to remove the broken bolt and re-thread - maybe also a good time to change the 4 crossmember bushes and front mount while it's out too!
  2. LOL - just adding PINK to this thread so it gets picked up by Dom's script...
  3. Riley - is thats a PITA? I have a new one to fit at some point...
  4. Please do not cross post, your original thread is in the correct forum.
  5. ProdigalSon, does that hose say 45 / 92 on it?? If so it's done twice it's service life  Cazza - was it one of the rear carrier bolts they need to drill out? if so don't let them! - just buy some Irwin Bolt Grippers and take them down there, will take seconds and you'll probably save yourself some labour!
  6. If it's a 1.3 Golf I'd be tempted to save some cash but the pattern ones flex too much (thinner metal) and the bushes don't last at all... At the end of the day it's a 150MPH sports car, you can't skimp on drivetrain parts!
  7. Well, you have to take the PAS belt and charger belt off to do the cambelt so unless they are very recent you may as well stick new ones back on - Charger belt is about £15 and PAS is £3
  8. Maybe 3 Hours labour + £50 for the Cambelt kit and 2 other belts that may as well be done at the same time...
  9. I think it's 5/8ths or 16mm (heater hose) - off the shelf from Halfords etc
  10. Matt - the rears are just a push fit but very tight on the discs so unlikely they would move on there own... I would always recommend new ones as they corrode at the rate you'd need new discs so even if in good nick after a disc change, your likely to need replacements before the next change of discs if you see what i mean.... Things to check - play in rear wheel bearings, calipers not working for whatever reason and corrosion of rear brakes - flakes of metal come off the discs and crud up the sensor...
  11. Yep - several Audi's use it too and they tend to be in better condition becuase of less heat damage / better airflow etc... All your looking for it those 4 plugs into 1 as it's non sequantial - you may just need to swap the casing over as that is the corrado specific bit
  12. Yeah, just to add to what Kev says - with the MK4 Calipers I am wearing standard rear pads out at almost the same rate as the fronts which was unheard of on MK2/3 Golfs etc

    NO GEARS

This will be the DMF breaking up - you can usually see it moving if you stick a screwdriver down the inspection hole...
  14. Yeah thats right, the idea is you should be able to change them on in a dessert etc with limited tools - ie not two spanners of the same size... Annoyingly VW have also changed the sizes of suspension bolts from 17mm to 18mm at the front so i ended up buying a deep 18mm socket as there wasn't one in my Halfords kit...
  15. They are on here is you search but it's basically the 2 equivilent water pipes off a MK1 so VW should be able to find them in seconds - about £15 the pair...
  16. Halfords do Bosch ones but they need to be ordered - VW dealer is your best bet (for quality too)
  17. Only 5 years after the last reply!!
  18. Stan, i'm no expert but it's usually the relays that fail with MK4 aircon...
  19. It just gees thru the alternator bracket and you loosen it to pivot when tensioning the alt belt. If it's ok just do it up and forget about it...
  20. Same laptop / lead / software / baud configuration as used before? (ie nothing else changed?) Change the ECU relay!
  21. Maybe worth cleaning both surfaces with wet/dry paper and re-applying some copper grease... Then if still having issues maybe check the wheel and hub with vernier calipers
