  1. F*ck me - what washer fluid did you put in it???
  2. Yeah the first number is up to R chassis with number 390, the second is also R chasis but 391 onwards...
  3. VR auto's are great, whilst i'd still have a manual given the choice the auto box is good and with the kickdown gives some great torque... engines will probably be in generally better condition to due to the autobox but as matt says they won't be as versatile as a manual and the torque converter will sap some power - I also doubt you'll see the 35mpg average you can get out of the stick shift.
  4. Yep, R=94 mate so you need the 191 part (same a a Golf MK2) not sided
  5. Have you got AA cover or anything similar?? if so i'd call them out and let them diagnose it - the AA are particuarly good if you get one of there own vans... I'd start by changing Ignition switch, ECU and FP relays anyway if original and then look at the Hall sender and coolant temp sender
  6. Ok, you need to check the basics - ECU plugged in, BTS plugged in and working, Engine earths, Hall sender on dizzy, king lead... Also don't rule out random failure of ignition switch, ECU relay, FP relay - alarm/imob etc
  7. As above, basically yan found when new the single filter was ok but as it got slightly clogged it started to over pressure... he fitted a second to overcome this.
  8. No worries - when mine went it just melted the insulation on the wire (was very lucky like you tho and caught it within seconds) You need to unlock the fusebox and remove the loom really and then check other looms for damage...
  9. Welcome to the forum - most likely to be cam timing but moving this to 'engine bay'
  10. If you suspect the switch give it a skake / wiggle when you think it's playing up... tbh - I would change this anyway if it's not one of the new black ones... Whats up with the clutch?? Corrado clutch's are usually great... if it's biting low then you might have a failing slave cyl...
  11. Going back to the last page a 2.0 16V doesn't have a thermo-time switch does it???? Jonesy - do you have the old part?? was the plug the same colour / what was the part number on it?
  12. Did you clear the codes and rescan after a basic settings and drive ??
  13. Sounds like b0llocks to me - change the ignition switch anyway...
  14. You can still buy all the bits from VW but the washers themselves look awful
  15. Yep - failed headlight switch sending current down the brown earth cable in the loom - happened to a few of us now!! This is why I replace my headlight switch every 2 years or so and tell people to always buy new and not second hand You might find it's not that bad and you can just replace the switch and repair the loom with some repair wire - would strongly advise putting an inline fuse on that wire (3 or 5 amp)
  16. Are you sure it's the sensors?? Have you had a diagnostic readout?? Sounds like you may have water in the ABS ECU which is causing random codes to be thrown up...
  17. Give Julian at Balance Motorsport a call!
  18. Does anyone know what sealant is best to use to replace the windscreen seal? The outer seal is £20 from VW but get the insurance to cover it if they are replacing... don't let them fit a generic one they look awful! Sealant - get the VW stuff if you can
  19. LOL@Matt Not often you get a thread bumped that was started by Scott tho! Eagle F1's - I do like the GSD3's but I find the sidewalls are very soft, you get good ride quality from the flex but you have to be careful with them! Interesting 3% discount too - I see they have put the price of most tyres up by £4 to compensate... just not worth it, I always get my local place to beat the web prices...
  20. Anyone know if there is a high temp teflon paint available which gives a finish like Big Red use??
  21. Good job? MJS seem to have a very good rep for diagnostics etc...
  22. £2 in Halfords but you take a chance on the colour mix, dealer is best place to go if they still do it
