I have a question - what is so special about the spec of the PD TDI oil - 505 01 I think (for fixed servicing) And what do you recommend considering I am changing the oil at 5k intervals at present using the proper VAG stuff...

Also - get new ABS cages, old ones will be ok if your lucky not to distort them getting off but they them probably won't last the life of the discs becuase of corrosion - ABS light coming on at high speed etc...
-
Yep - I had the same problem as you need something like a 50mm socket.... What i used in the end was a bit of alloy scafold pole cut on a bandsaw and a dead blow hammer, worked fine with the disk on a concrete floor... Mic - are you going to Northgate on thurs?? - If so I can bring the 'special tool' along...

Hmmm - replacement MC's are not a bad thing considing most of our cars have had new flexi's, new solid lines and new calipers from age / wear... New masters are alloy now so hopefully won't corrode like the old ones, worth cecking the servo condition while your there altho not a cheap part to replace - they can leak where they are welded together when they corrode so worth checking if you see any particular amount of rust...

I dunno - I have heard some bad stuff about them but I went to there open day last year and was really impressed, seemed like a very professional outfit... They were also doing some really cheap deals on suspension and remaps and they certainly had their work cut out that day... Shaun did a few re-maps and he seemed to know what he was doing taking the car for test drives before and after looking at the live maf data etc The other thing was they were doing free fitting (!!!!!) on the suspension so there mechanic, an ex-audi guy, was working his arse off fitting coilovers and arbs all day, I've never seen someone work so hard and so fast where everyone else was just standing around in the garage watching and chatting !

Send it recorded, that way you have a good chance it will be him that opens it.

Tom - we've got a live one...

The other thing is you could have got a sticky caliper and at speed the fluid in that line boiled... you need to find the problem asap tho and do not drive it until sorted!
-
Hello, try 36 at the front and 33 at the rear and see how you get on... when the weather gets colder reduce them by about 3psi all round.

Thats the problem with internet pornography - you can have too much as Toad will testify... I've had so many problems with the quality of pattern parts I think I would stick with the VW part tbh, I think the blades can get broken from debris etc maybe so make sure you flush the system well. The other thing about genuine VAG stuff is that it carries a 2 year warranty and if it fails, VW will cover the cost of the part and labour regardless if they fitted it or not. Toad - the aux belts for the non AC VW (7PK by 1290mm) are £12+vat from VW trade, you'll find a Gates / Continental dealer will be about 7 + vat but the belt may not be the exact right size, +5mm

Does i feel like the ABS is kicking in??
-
Yeah - check for leaks (fluid loss) and also the servo hose to the inlet fanimold
-
Vag do most clips for pennies but if you mean the fusebox cover ones then you have to buy in bags of ten... sure others on here need them tho!
-
Yeah, Corrado one is 535 specific... not sure the exact differences tho but it is 635 cm wide... It really is worth paying for the genuine ND (Denso) Marsdon part, made in England and much better quality than anything else I have seen...

I don't think the Bentley is expensive at all - look at the size of it compared to a Haynes (that now retail at £18!!) and also the fact that most of the info is correct unlike the bl00dy Haynes books of lies! Amazon.ca is cheapest for the Bentley - I got mine for less than £50 deliverdd and that was before the pound was worth about 4 million dollors..
-
VR pumps are less likely to leak tho as they simply plug into the block, the thing you bought was remoulded out of old baked bean cans...
-
You spoke to the petrol station?? maybe a coincidence but you may have got some water into your tank!

Odd sounds after fitting suspension - UPDATE, ARB
Supercharged replied to Jim Bowen's topic in Drivetrain
Hmmm again - what bar is it?? is it deffo for the VR? -
A mate of mine sent his BBS's back 3 times before he was happy with the work, they weren't even split rims... I think Pristine needs to have a serious look at there quality control procedures as i certainly wouldn't use them.

Well done dude - heatshrink is the way fwd...

Hmmm - those mounts look too big.. -
Auto would be good for the arthritis Jim
-
That would be my ultimate 3rd Corrado - VR auto with leather and AC

Yeah - looks stunning and very modern looking! My personal opinion is that the painted front splitter is taking the colour coding a bit too far altho I would blend and paint the plastic bits round the mirrors ideally for a modern look... I really hate bloody In-Pros too - IMO they ruin an otherwise mint car- they simply just don't fit well especially on a late car, the poor fit makes the front looks messy and the boot looks like it's not shut.... a shame becuase I know the work that's gone into this will be second to none but you can only work with what your given... Only other thing i'd do is fit the late MK1 TT Aero wipers, brings it bang up to date and they work when it rains!
