  1. Hmmm... I wonder if these all point to a wiring fault or bad relay?
  2. Yeah, it's the best thing to do tho Lee, buying the extras bits... We did Dinkus's rad the other week end and found a few missing bits and had to get a couple of self tappers to replace missing / rusty ones and one of the rubber carriers was missing and also the copper washer on the fan thermoswitch...
  3. Should also point out that some VR's have the chip hardwired to the ECU board so a chip holder may need to be soldered in first... Not sure if we know what year / chassis they changed?? RW1?
  4. Ok, I think there was another thread about this not so long ago but basically it can be done but not as simple as swapping the clusters over as on your car the speedo is mechanically driven from a cable on the gearbox, the later cars use an electronic speed sensor...
  5. Sh1te! - is the flywheel visible from under the car? If so then maybe you can wash it off somehow - ie feed some cleaning chemical thru the flywheel inspection hole and let it drain off...
  6. Saw one VR on my way down to London yesterday and another on the way back... both on the A12...
  7. That could be an earth... Have you tried new fuel pump and ECU relays?? New Blue temp sender? Probably unable to do a pressure test on the fuel pump but have you changed the filter recently? Being a dizzy model i doubt there is an inbuilt imobiliser (chipped key) but do you have an after market one?? I'd also try your ECU in another car... What mileage is it on?? - just wondering as some Passats VR's have been known to do very high mileage - just wondering if the chains have jumped a tooth or two... EDIT - you've not tried another dizzy??? - sounds like a dead hall sender!!!

    Rear washer

Try unblocking the jet with a pin first and then take the black hatch trim off and disconnect the pipe to find out where the problem is...
  9. Yep, you can get them and also the plastic trim and gaskets too...
  10. Welcome to the forum... I'd think it would fit phyically but I'd check with the manufacturer / supplier to compare the kits between the cars and check what the differences are if any...
  11. Hi, welcome to the forum... Yep, I hink you've answered your own question there! - i'd say it was quite likely that at high speed the distorted ring caused the signal to 'miss'... You'd need to put it on VAGCOM to be sure what sensor triggered the fault tho... I doubt the new ABS rings are much from VAG, the rear cages are about a tenner but not sure about the fronts...
  12. Spray it and shake it! (or soak it in it if you don't have a spray!)
  13. Oh sorry - that plastic thing (I thought you meant on top of the cover as per the photo.) Yeah that comes off easily enough with a philps No. 2 Also worth blasting the ISV out with carb cleaner before refitting.
  14. Lippy, yeah direct replacement, the only difference is its solid rather than hydraulic (oil filled)
  15. Yeah looks spot on - mine was a horrible orange colour!! Just was it in fairly liquid (both bits) then leave them to dry The plastic bit it just a spash gaurd.
  16. You can buy hubcentric spacers to go from 5by112 to 5by100 but the offset of the wheels would need to be ET60
  17. Just look for the facelift models (rounded indicators) then you'll be getting sips, better bodywork plus bigger brakes...
  18. Yeah same size... mr.ots, as you say was never fitted originally but just happens to fit...
  19. New?? The prices have gone up and they're now £25+vat for the late ones... The one I got the Mad Jackal was just less than £20 + vat trade!
  20. It's not high pressure like the 16v's but I'd recommend you buy the good stuff which is usually about £7 a metre (if you only buy 1 or 2) - this normally has a ribbed/braided appearance and it will bend into a U shape better than the cheaper stuff - you need this for the one at the end or the rail to the pressure switch...
