You will need to - take the lower cowling off and see if the lock assembly is loose - allen bolt to tighten i think but don't overtighten!

Most likely warn or warped disks but could also be caused be wheel allignment, tracking, wheel unbalance etc... -

Dave16v on here sells repair kits... Rear passat handles fit but you need the mechs also.

cubed, if you push the lever straight fwd does it go into 3rd? Yeah, oil change will help (use redline MT90 - demon tweeks) also a handfull of grease onto the mech (where the weight is ontop of gearbox) will also help no end...

Yeah, sounds like release bearing sticking - did you use a new one and plenty of grease?? - it's worth changing the part it runs on if your taking apart again...

LOL - the light did it's job then!! You shouldn't 'use' water by the way, look for signs of a leak and check it reguarly...

The bit at the top?? reckon it will be dealer only... Unusual for it to rust as it should be SS i think, the rest of the filler neck is plastic...
