  1. Go to Halfords and get the battery tested... I think it's probably the starter but it would be a weak / faulty battery or ignition switch.
  2. They'll be fine as long as you always drive in a straight line.
  3. Anything that uses an AH profile key so anything around the same era as MK2/MK3
  4. http://www.edition38.com/forums/ Works fine for me but google seems to have it listed as unsafe so was maybe hacked or they've maybe detected malware on the server. https://support.google.com/websearch/bin/answer.py?hl=en&answer=45449&rd=1
  5. The TT arms work a bit better but sounds like there is another problem... Is it a genuine or Sekurit screen? just Pilkington screens are renowned for being too flat for the wipers Any play in the wiper mech - ie if you touch one arm does the other move at the same time (as it should)
  6. Erm... yeah should give you a clue - usually says something like engine start blocked by immobiliser I think but usually the engine does actually start then cuts out - is this what yours is doing? Tried the spare key?
  7. I've heard of others doing it but no one cheaper than Stealth... Might be cheaper just to fix the problem, could be just the key or reader coil?
  8. Yeah that's quite bad but not unusual for a car of this age... probably due to incorrect coolant used at some point? I'd carry on sanding to skim the surface more - luckily you don't have to be that careful with metal fillings at that point. Other option is to skim it carefully with silicon and let that go off and then use a new housing with the O ring seal as normal.
  9. It's because of chain-stretch caused by the engine suddenly engaging - especially with the hydraulic tensioner - you should never bump start a VR. Have you got AA cover?? If so remember you could use them to diagnose the issue
  10. Those handheld things can be useful but VAGCOM is far more in depth and futureproof
  11. Congratulations to you both! Yes I'd worry too much about a Corrado breaking down, an old bus is probably more reliable  Enjoy NYC :-)
  12. Ah - from the above it sound like the switch has broken internally unless the key is badly worn... If it's not been changed recently then buy one (from VAG) - easy to test without fully fitting it
  13. Yep, if all 3 main parts are good then it's worth a min of £300 I'd say... getting more and more rare nowadays!
  14. Classic imob symptoms - search on here for the WD40 fix!
  15. Have a look on the Seat forums, there was a wheel compatibility thread at one point but I thin 15's are no go tbh...
  16. Yep - as above has to be a relay issue!
  17. Was it a genuine belt? pulleys line up ok and no damage?
  18. There's a lot of stuff running - probably at start-up like most off the shelf PC's these days - but nothing I can see that looks dodgy... If it takes a while to boot you could try and disable some programs that run at startup and sit in the system tray
  19. If it's ok now then I wouldn't worry to much, I'd download and run Malwarebytes though as that seems to find things that normal Virus checkers don't. Re-install of the OS is a bit drastic unless things are really corrupt or you can't boot the OS, most spyware I've seen recently is fairly easy to get rid of... You could post a screenshot of the processes running in task manager - I'll see if there is anything odd in there.
  20. There's a bleed nipple on it, just open it up with the Eezibleed attached but be careful not to spill fluid on the paint. Do this last after bleeding all 4 corners - should bring the pedal feel back
  21. You tried Irwin bolt grippers? (Homebase sell them if you need them fast)
  22. US / CA cars have a different ABS system - our cars don't need the ignition on or VAGCOM
