Is that the castelated top nut?? The golf haynes manuals usually have a picture of the tool which you can make by sacrivicing a socket
-
Yep, Bosal are sh1te, always go with VAG genuine exhuasts, they last ages and as Jim says if you get a discount they will probably be alot cheaper from the dealer, also maybe try GSF... (ECP for some reason are not very competitive with genuine parts)
-
Faulty regulator??? What voltage do you read across the battery terminals with the engine running? Also re-check the starter wiring.
-
LOL - I've never heard of someone mixing spark plug types.... I'd doubt it was valve timing as the VR cams are chain driven, they would have to be very slack to 'jump' sounless you've had work done in that area recently or the engine is on a very high mileage.

Make sure you keep a check on the oil Joe, you may want to fit a mocal and a baffled sump as you know what happened last time!

I'd say it was the thermoswitch, it has two stages and one of them is not working.

How to fit the smaller pulley and boost return mod
Supercharged replied to Danr's topic in Engine Bay
Yep, GSF also sell the smaller belts. Did you buy a chip to go with the pulley? -
Hmmm, probably but I wouldn't be suprised if MOMO didn't change the bolt pattern for the manufacturers that they make wheels for as OEMs

No probs - good pic btw, Is that Cardiff city centre in the background... :)

Wow - missed this yesterday! 6k is alot to spend on a car you've not looked at Jim!! - but then again all my eBay purchases have worked out ok, just never spent quite that amount of money! Yeah engine will be fine as long as its been looked after and serviced when it should, bear in mind tho that at 100k the suspension / bushes will be fairly tired if its all original still.... Good luck this afternoon Jim, make sure you take someone with you to look over it also, always helps to have another person however knowledgable you are...

stevemac's G60 8) (mapped & back on the road)
Supercharged replied to stevemac's topic in Members Gallery
Nice one Steve! -
Hmmm I thought the Model was just Corrado G60 and 1781cc...
-
daves16v, have you tried cleaning the contacts to the ECU? - this may have been caused by an interior leak....
-
Also look for a VAC leak - check pipes and listen for hissing noises...
-
Should be 800 +-50
-
Just say its a PG engine code, the filter is unique to that and the 1H.
-
Or an earthy faut...
-
It just means the Oil is held by seperating the sump pan... Think of how firetrucks hold the water in a kind of honeycomb to stop the weight forces of the water pulling the truck all over the road....

Yeah, screens are £240+vat from VAG but glass firms will get the same SEKURIT glass cheaper (just without the VAG logo) and it comes with the plastic mouldings attached. Fitting should only take an hour labour time altho best not to move the car for 3-4 hours afterwards... The seal round the top is re-usable but best to ask the insurance for a new one also if yours is 10+ years old... (these are about £30 from the dealers if you need to pay for it)
