  1. VW boxes are very strong, on a standard car they could last almost forever if treated well, a decent oil like redline helps prolong life and also hide syncro wear
  2. Indeed, or just go with an exchange VR from Vege at less than 2k - a mate has now done over 60 k miles in his and it's still silent, uses no oil and and pulls like a train!
  3. yes, VW or Euro car parts, about the same price. I think they are a lot more from Euro Dave - I looked at prices yesterday seeing what I could get with the 20% off but they still came out more expensive
  4. Yeah let me know mate and I'll order another pair - way I see it is that a lense is £25 - might as well pay a bit more and get new case, reflector, clips, surround, adjuster + bulbs / wiring etc.
  5. Not sure it's worth doing the reflectors Jim, especially if you neded new lenses too - it's quite expensive and new (late) lights are £105 each on trade from TPS and available next day.
  6. Ah ok, it's 67 on your car then but I reckon it's old... Have you got a mate with a 16V Golf or Corrado you can swap parts with to test? Don't worry about wires above as they are just oil pressure and temp sensors.
  7. Those wires are for the horn I think... Do you not have a relay in position 12 then? If so I think you've found your problem :)
  8. Ah ok - thanks for that, makes sense.
  9. It was £201.97 + vat but I’ve just checked the brake master cylinder is obsolete as of 26/01/2010 and there is no replacement. :(
  10. Yeah as Dave says, some stuff is a nightmare - it''s always worth clicking on stuff to see if it supercedes. Was going to say look on eBay, if it's genuine for £50 then buy it
  11. Chris - Just interested why it goes past 91c back to 87 before you've marked it fully warm - is that the oil temp you are also looking at or does it wait for the fan to kick in once before the map switches over? 21mins does seem rather a while but I guess it was a cold day (5c)
  12. Already trying to arrange a viewing ;) Wow! that's some 'potentially' amazing car there. It's amazing how quickly your mind says 'dodgy' when you see a few things in a car ad  Like the far away pictures (what's he hiding :bad-words:  ) no interior shots etc... prob a very straight car, and to be honest Pat, if mileage + usual suspect issues all prove fine - that's not a bad price......if you get it for 3,850 [/quote:1cdm0wzt] Yeah, phone number doesn't work... shame becuase it sounded like the perfect car!
  13. Your not, that's why dealers have parts desks - you ask for what you want and they look it up - even better if If you have a TPS nearby give them a call and order one in
  14. It's 02A911023TX you need - fits all but the VR6 Should be around £85 + vat exchange from VAG
  15. Even diesel seems to be hitting my wallet hard - when I got it 5 years ago it cost me £50 to fill the tank (500 miles), it now costs me £70 so my monthly fuel bill had gone up from £100 to £150
  16. FP relay is bottom right of the fusebox - probably marked 80
  17. What engine is it??? Have the ECU and Fuel pump relays been changed recently?? Ignition switch?
  18. Could well be the exhaust but could also be fueling, injectors - loads of things Have you checked timing - both static and ignition?
  19. Try and get it to Stealth or DG Autotech if you can - both fairly local too you.
  20. It's behind one of the rear door cards but feeds directly from the battery so you can disconnect that red cable to test - it's roughly 4-5mm thick (red)
  21. I think you already know the answer, you're just looking for backup :D I think if you're going to do it and have the cash then now is the time before parts get too scarse - there is good knowledge of conversions on here now that will help and you also have one of the newer Corrado's despite the miles. Maybe give DG / Stealth or PSI a call to discuss or maybe Jay would be up for a challenge, I know he offered his services before
  22. Hi mate, no not local I'm afraid - live in Suffolk. I can recommend the TDI conversion though - done over 70k miles in mine now and it's supperb! Meant to say, one of your headlights was quite dim, one is blue/white in colour the other is a dimmer yellow - may just be an old bulb.
  23. Ok, 2 things it could be if the fault is not on one of the fusebox circuits. 1 - aftermarket alarm or imobiliser if fitted 2 - The electric window module behind the rear door card - this runs straight from the battery so can be disconnected easily to test, they seem to go wrong in a way that they start to drain around 10 times as much power as they should. What's the drain? I assume you checked the obvious like the boot light and also pulled relays to test?
  24. My mates C70 had virtually nothing, just primer - awful but reminds you how good vw's are!
