Do standard lupo wiper arm fit or do they need to be GTI? If standard front lupo arms are ok I might have a pair.

Quite surprised you've sold it Jim, I know you've been on about it but didn't think you would. I'm sure it's the right decision and definately not a rush one. Also a shame to hear about your fiesta, you can't have anything! Anyway, look forward to seeing what's next, can recommend a Golf R!! Lovely to drive and are mentally fast!

Thanks Jim

I had a call last night from a friend who has a 1995 VR6 and his battery went flat and now the alarm seems to be playing up. It's still on the factory scorpion alarm / immobiliser. You can only open the doors via the key but then the alarm goes and the fob won't turn it off. The car will then turn over but it doesn't fire up so assume this is the immobiliser kicked in. Tried a search but can't find anything of use. Also tried the factory reset with the ignition on and re-connect the battery and hold the fob down. Any ideas welcome please? Chris Can this be moved to the right section please! Guess I shouldn't post using my phone!

I've never painted before so this will be my first. I have a friend who owns a garage with a spray booth in the corner, he said I can borrow it and also use his gun etc. High build priming will be done in my garage.

Thanks, still going to keep the black arch trims and all the stripes on the door bottoms.

It is Lhasa green but its not staying that colour, it will be this colour: Carbon steel grey metallic from the MK7 Golf!

Yes, that's the guy. I bought a full set from him for the blackberry, the storm's where like new! I think Goldie and Kip have had full sets from him too. Another thing Sean, for the exhaust hangers that have the captive rubbers in them (which I believe are obsolete), I broke the tack welds off the tubes that hold the rubber in place, fitted new rubbers and tacked them back in place then had the whole thing zinc plated! the zinc process doesn't affect the rubber.

thanks all, a mk1 golf gti was supposed to be my first car back in 1992 but it was just as insurances went through the roof because of cars like the XR2 being stolen all the time. The garage is great and I do have loads of space to work and can still get the wife's car in there too. The jig is also a godsend when it comes to sanding as it will rotate to exactly the right position. I said this wasn't going to be a show car but more of something I could use when I wanted, but the boot floor needed prepping for paint and got a bit carried away Bit of dolphin glaze filler just to get it a bit flatter and sanded Inner arches had a few ripples and small dents so on with a little filler all primed and some seam sealer applied to finish off On to the drivers rear quarter, decided to take it back to bare metal and found a nice ding full of filler can be seen better after priming I didn't fancy loading it with filler again incase it shrank over time so got a dent remover round Now just needed a light skim to get it dead flat More to follow

Looking great Sean if not familiar..... It's really satisfying work and will look great when your done. I think you can still buy some of the aluminium heat shields if you need them. Are you putting new brake lines on? The original finish ones you can buy on here look great and fit perfectly. Look forward to updates!

After selling the Corrado I lasted until about January before needing something to do in the garage that wouldn't cost the earth. I ended up buying this back in February after a short search for a MK1 GTI. The car had been stripped by the previous owner and any welding work already completed, this looks to be only minor areas such as the rear panel, rear outer arches and the front panel. Other then that, the shell is in amazing condition. I have all the parts stored in boxes to be cleaned and fitted once the paint work is finished. I've always wanted to have a go at bodywork preparation and painting and intend to do it all myself including the final top-coat. So this is when I got it home: This is the interior, not bad for 170K miles. Totally mint except for a small fag burn, this wont matter as I intend to have the centres re-trimmed with the black and grey stripe: First job after sorting all the parts out of the shell was a quick clean of the interior, floors look perfect: Then I got a jig made at work to make the days of sanding a little easier: Noticed one of the sills had been dented up, probably from someone jacking the car incorrectly: was going to live with it as its not intended to be a show car but decided it would drive me mad if I didnt sort it, so got some plates welded on to try and pull it straight Came out pretty well really More to follow….

Thanks. A mk1 gti was meant to be my first car, I had one all lined up but then insurances went through the roof and I couldn't afford it at 17. It's been on my list since then.

Well worth looking into, would make the beam look like a new one. Powder coating can chip really easy looks a bit thick to be OEM. I got bored with nothing to tinker with so I bought a MK1 Golf Gti to restore. Also, the wife had a bmw 1 series and always dreaded winter times so we changed it for a MK7 Golf R.
-
For your Corrado I would seriously suggest you get it e-coated rather then powder coat or paint, its a much more true to original finish and its what is on new car suspension parts. Its probably cheaper too. There is a place in wales that do it and it was around £100 for the beam, brackets and 2 brake backplates

I looked at 996 and 997's recently but they have a common fault on the engine which results in a complete rebuild of circa 10k! I just couldn't take that kind of risk. Settled for a Golf R which we could use daily and is a faster car!!

Don't have a use for these anymore, I had them made to match the plates on the original storm brochure. I simply Velcro them on at a show over the normal plate. a small blemish, looks like something was under the vinyl when it was made, its only small though Fitted on the car I'm looking for £25 posted or collection from Hull
