Few minor updates, started smoothing in the engine bay. OCD had taken over unfortunately Then onto the chassis leg Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Not to crash or interfere but I have a set of rear lights if these have sold.

Cheers, if it makes you feel better, I didn’t do the welding, my mate from work did it. More updates, I’m going for a smooth engine bay with all wiring hidden. I think someone must have used a Tommy gun on this area All welded Header tank, washer bottle and battery tray gone Unused holes in slam panel welded Bit of smoothing Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Bought this from a friend yesterday, a new heart for the mk1 It’s currently a 150bhp with the K03s turbo so should map up to 220bhp. I reckon that should be plenty.... Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

I used to use the red mist but never liked the tropical version. It always seemed to leave a stain.
-
How do people find the durability of the purple haze? I never found it lasted very well.
-
Lovely! Would be good to have a look over this sometime.

That seems a bit extreme! I've used collonite 915 wax for years, it's amazing stuff. Maybe we need to see pictures of the polished car......

Some more updates. With the shell in high build, I turned my attentions to the engine bay and floors. To allow me to run the car low, I need to make some room for the drive shafts. And finished with some additional stiffening Then decided to take off all the stone chip stuff applied by the previous owner I knew the sections under the floor were dented due to poor jacking and was going to leave them but with all this work it seems a shame not to sort them And a small hole found in the sill / cill (however its spelt) More to follow Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Cheers! Hopefully the 200bhp 20vt engine should sort the lack of power from the mk1. I was planning on going standard but I really want to build this to my idea of the perfect mk1.
-
Cheers! Yes it's going to be VW carbon steel grey metallic. 16" BBS RS's and I have an Audi A3 1.8 20vt donor car coming at the end of the month. You should get one.

Ok, so some updates: Put some new wings on and wanted to make sure all gaps were even, pretty good I think Bought a new bonnet and checked all gaps up front Then masked up ready for some polyester high build: This was then blocked again (no pics) and then the shell was sprayed in high build primer More to follow. I’m sure it’s done correctly and if not, I’m not sure how quickly a problem would arise. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Slowly, but it's grown arms and legs! I'll sort some updates. There is an angle the 2 brackets are supposed to be set at according to the Bentley manual. I guess it's because once the two big bolts are tight, it clamps the big rubber bush in position. If it's at too much of an angle it will stress the rubber and potentially tear it. I just let the car sit flat on the floor then nipped them up.

Sounds like you've been busy Sean. Look forward to seeing photos. You probably know, but don't forget to set the correct angle for the beam or wait till its on the floor before tightening the bolts that go through the big bushes.

Its getting there slowly and growing arms and legs! don't know how to post pictures now so not updated.

Such a shame to break it. You could always use the black one as a daily!
-
You won't need any, your car is protected by the garage

Such a stunning corrado. This would have got me back into corrado ownership but really is the wrong time. Hope someone buys it to save it being stripped.

MOT new rules. We're not 40 yet! The cars I mean..

Ha ha, it was my Ross-tech lead they used to sort the car! -
Looks mint! Don't be shy with your camera

I saw this at Fitted UK, the paintwork was absolutely flawless, not a ripple or sign of orange peel anywhere. Some serious work gone into it!
-
Looks as clean as the black one now with those new track rods!

Nice but checking MOT history, it was MOT'd in 2006 then not until 2016 where it had a monster list of failures. A lot down to corrosion on brake pipes, discs etc so must have been somewhere damp. Also highlighted by the state of the aluminium parts in the engine bay.
