  1. So I did this mod today hurrah! Couples of notes: All 3 shear bolts come out using Irwin bolt grippers, so no drilling needed there! I bought a polo column 2nd hand, then all the parts listed on the first page, including both bearings. The bearing that fitted mine was the thinner one, but the wedge type ring that goes on before wass too big for it, and the polo column didnt seem to have one at all (that I could find). I put it together without the wedge before the bearing, and now now I have a wobble that I can trace to the end of the shaft, so I guess it's all got to come out again to fit a wedge thing in. Does anyone have a part number for the thinner wedge ( I have contact ring 811 419 548 A which is too large and just slides down the column!)) Overall impressions are really good, I'm sure it'll improve even more once I've got the contact ring fitted properly. The fixed cowling is so much sturdier than the adjustable one, everything feels so solid!
  2. If you've got one near, halfords or Wickes will do them.
  3. Yeah I'm a bit worried about drilling the shear bolts. Will get the Irwins on the case this evening and see how they get on... Will report back!
  4. Just got back from holiday to find my eBay fixed column (£20!) waiting, as well as my cowling from Ross (Tekara) Opened my emails and my local VW dealer Dave had just emailed to say all the other parts had arrived today! woooop I might get a bit over excited and try and do it all tonight- How long should it take roughly? Has anyone tried using a set of Irwins on the shear bolts yet? Big shout out to Tekara for the cowling: absolute legend sorting these out!
  5. I dread to think how much I've spent in the last 12 months. It's gotten to the stage when nearly everything has been replaced so there must be some light at the end of the tunnel....
  6. Id be well interested if there is a spare cowling going! Think I just picked up a fixed column off eBay! :)
  7. The airflow thing is quite interesting. I ran my car without a drivers fog for a couple of months since the rebuild as I thought it would aid cooling for the mocal. I picked up a spare fog last week and since I put it in my oil temps have actually gone down a noticeable amount!
  8. EDIT: Posted in wrong topic somehow??
  9. Bought some replacement door pins the other day as the passenger doors nylon ring has dissintegrated and it takes a couple of gos to shut the door. Thought this would be a nice cheap and easy fix. Drivers side (which was fine anway) took 1 min to swap. Closes with a nice thump now :) Passenger side would not move at all! I ended up rounding it off. Then spent an hour trying to saw through the pin so I could get a socket on it, or at worst my Irwins. After an hour of sawing very gingerly I got fed up - and realised that If I sawed through the pin but still couldn't get it out, I'd be left with a door that wouldn't shut.... So left it. ARGHHHHH, never a dull moment.
  10. Mine creaks too, have a little bit of dead travel in the clutch until warmed up too.
  11. Have to agree with everything that's been said. I've never found a forum populated by so many knowledgable, helpful people. Thanks for all the help guys! Long Live The Corrado Forum!
  12. I've tried uprated loom and bulbs and it's a great improvement. Think I'm going to invest in an HID kit for this winter though as my loom was pretty unreliable at times. Just got to find a good HID kit now lol, anyone recommend one?
  13. Luckily I took a lot of photos when I took my car apart, so I was able to zoom in on the front suspension set up to work out which wishbone should go where!
  14. Don't worry mate, I did the same when I changed my drop links too!
  15. Watched Four Lions last night. Really, really enjoyed it, Love Chris Morris' work so 9/10 from me!
  16. See this thread: http://the-corrado.net/.archive/forum/viewtopic.php?f=11&t=77539&p=1102594&hilit=LPG+VR6#p1102594
  17. Scratch that: I realised I'd put relay 99 back in the wrong place when I had it out a few weeks ago ( back during the dry days!) So problemo now solved for freeee!
  18. My car has just started doing this. I guess the motor must be fine as it works on the fastest setting., just not the others. Did you ever get to the bottom of this? Which relay is controls the wipers? Thanks
  19. I thought I posted a reply to this yesterday but looks like I didn't I've bought some water repellant foam to wrap around the air filter, it still lets the air through but stops the water. i'll have to dig it out and find the brand name on it for you.
  20. Thanks Kev, The more I hear about the Green tops the more I wish I'd just got a nice set of 360cc reds, would have been a lot easier and cheaper. Maybe I'll try swapping them for a set if anyone is keen!? I guess I might just have to bite the bullet and take my car to D&G to get the charger fitted and setup, I don't know how confident I feel messing about with £2000 worth of supercharger by myself. :confused4:
  21. Bit of a thread resurection here. I still haven't fitted my Rotrex, but am thinking about doing it in the next couple of weeks. Just starting to do the preparations like extending the MAF cable, fitting the meth injection etc I've got a set of Green tops ready to go in. Could I stick these in before I put the charger on and run it for a couple of weeks? Would it cause massive overfuelling on idle? I read about using the 10k resistor, would this be the kind of thing I should use: http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/10K-Ohm--POTENTIO ... 62ff74f24e I assume I'd wire that into the MAF output wire somehow, and then adjust resistor until the car idled properly? Thanks for any help as usual.
  22. Have you checked all the engine earths? My oil shot up to an indicated 135 when the starter earth became disconnected.
  23. I'd give the throttle body, ISV and MAF a good clean to start with.
  24. If it's genuine coilpack and leads, they should be marked with the positions on both coilpack and leads. Otherwise, your spot on. Should take you about 20 mins to swap over. I haven't disconnected my battery when I've had mine off in the past. HTH
