  1. Thinking about cars that I may replace the Corrado with in the future and after a look on Pistonheads the B6/B7 Audi S4 avants with the 4.2 V8 are now going for "reasonable" money. By the end of the year I'd imagine they would come down further still. Anyone on here had much experience with them?
  2. Can't see why people yearn for one, they are still exactly the same age as a M or N. They were just sat on an airfield for a little while longer :) Not bothered about that, would love a private plate like P0LL or something!
  3. I'd kill for a P reg Corrado! I've never seen one come up tho :(
  4. I have worn my tyres down a fair wack very quickly, but evenly across the tyre and the car goes in a straight line ok so I didn't worry too much, I've got two new tyres ready to go on anyhow. I'm gonna speak to my guy at VW about warranty, as there's no way it should be making this noise already!
  5. Just a quicky: tracking has needed doing for a while but I've been super busy and haven't been able to get it done. Went for my first long drives in a while over the last week and my n/s wheelbearing is now howling. Bearing in mind I replaced this with an OE VW bearing about 3 months ago, could my tracking/camber being a bit out accelerate the failure of the bearing this quickly?
  6. Do you need a different 5th gear or FD to do 160/170?
  7. Thanks guys! Well I was toying with fitting the Racelogic myself until yesterday: Was on a trip to drop some stuff at my gas parents in Dunchurch, slowed down outside Stealth so I could drop in for a chat and realized they'd already closed. My car did the old "stall when your foots on the clutch thing, but wouldn't restarted when I let my foot off the clutch to bump start. So we were left stranded on the road until it eventually restarted. 100m down the road and did the dame again, on a roundabout this time, pushed it out the way and it restarted after 15 mins. Tried nurse it the few miles to Dunchurch, but it did it again amcouple of miles up the road, I watched he engine just cut out from 3000rpm.Called the AA as the battery died after a couple of tries, and my fears were confirmed, I'd wired the battery earth in badly basically, it was well earthed to the gearbox support, burgher was swerving badly to the rest of the engine. He fitted an extra earth strap from that point to a good one on the gearbox and everything was sorted! Moral of the story: I suck at electrics!
  8. If I were you guys I'd go for set of Black Forest Industry mints. Think it's about £160 delivered for a set of 3 from the states. I picked up a front mount for £45 when I was in the US last year...
  9. I have the part number on my work laptop mate, will get it for you tomorrow/Monday if no one else chimes-in in the meantime. I got mine from TPS but VW will do, think it was 45ish but I'll check.
  10. I'm assuming you pushed the pistons back fully when you took the old pads out?
  11. Yeah I can well imagine, it was such a sorted car when you bought it, it must be hard to know where to go, I guess that's ultimately why James sold it so quickly after building it.
  12. I'm currently in exactly the same situation Mic, going in for the Stealth turbo in the next month and my eye had been wandering to whole cars for not much more money. But then I'd be wasting the ££££s I've spent and 12 months hard work getting to the position I'm in now. It makes more sense to finish ehat I've started and I know I'll have a unique, very powerful car that's had about 90% of the parts replaced!
  13. Bored of the TT already Karl?! 4.4k for basic stage 1 fitted + 800ish for uprated clutch and fuel pump. Should see 330-360ish bhp depending on what else you have (cams, exhaust size, MAF type)
  14. Such a good reply! Although am I alone in thinking it'd be funnier if she turned out to be genuine!?
  15. What about asking VT themselves? They're UK based and as a Premium member on VR6OC you get 10% off so I'm sure they'd be interested in a GB for you guys too
  16. OOps! Time for a little update again, keep this thread alive! A few weeks ago I picked up a set of DS2500 pads for the Brembos, really happy with the performance so far, pedal feel is so much improved and I've got a really good amount of power now in the brakes. Today I splashed out a bit and bought myself a Racelogic Traction Control setup! Will need all the control I can get as the cars going into Stealth for a Turbo conversion in the middle of February! Price dependant I might go for one of the 2.5inch custom exhausts- it seems like this is the restriction in the system and it's an OE system at the moment so could probably do with changing soon anyway. I think I've finally sorted most of the gremlins that have bugged this project in the last 12 months! Seems funny that it was a year ago I started looking at putting a new engine in and charging it. At that time I expected to have it all done by the end of Feb 2010. The only thing I really want to get done is to fit my O2J shifter and tower. This would be a lot easier if I hadn't lost the tower somewhere at my parents house. It will turn up I'm sure and it's hardly been the weather for laying under the car taking the exhaust off!
  17. See page 2 of this for a very full explanation! viewtopic.php?f=1&t=57809&p=864372&hilit=+halfords+fuel+hose#p862562
  18. I got replacement high pressure fuel hose from halfords for about £7 if I remember right, can't recall the diameter you need though! It joins to hardline when it meets the bulkhead.
  19. My vote goes for the rear ARB too! It sounds like you've spent a decent amount of money maintainance already, so you might as well splurge a bit, and a rear ARB gives very good bang for buck!
  20. Out of the S3/R32/TT trio I prefer the TT shape by a mile. Would love a 3.2TT but they're still a bit expensive, so it'd have to be a chipped 225. I think I need to have a test of the three above before I stump up the money for my Stealth Turbo + Racelogic setup. Will be interested to see how you get on with the TT Karl.
  21. Basically, the Permatex spray on stuff was the only stuff worth using, but they've stopped making it now. Unspent age trying to find some, and in the end just used the spacer plater and 3'layer gasket. I'm sure it'll be fine without sealer.
  22. Well, I fitted the DS2500s last week after work (must have looked a bit mental changing brake pads at 7.00pm in freezing fog!) Fitting replacement pads to Brembos is refreshingly easy (say 15 mins per side max!) They are noticeably a lot better than the pads I took out, so I'm pretty pleased with them. A lot more pedal feel and bite is much improved. I think there's no getting away from the Maths though: They are nowherre near as powerful as a set of Cupra R Brembos, although the pedal is nice and high so I guess it's swings and roundabouts as most people complain about excessive pedal travel with the Cupra R set up. It'd be nice to have a go in a car with Cupra R Brembos for a bit of a comparison sometime. Q: If I picked up a set of Cupra R callipers, would they be ok to use with my existing 312 discs and adapters. or is the Pad size/position different?
  23. Just to set your mind at rest Andrew before you start worrying, the kit I sold you wasn't from Storm. Infect I had a pulley spacer made up from the diagram Joni did for me :)
  24. A 2 month wait and still no firm date? That's ludicrous! They can source the charger within a week no problem. The only thing they make is the brackets. When I'd lost one of the bits from my bracket in the summer, they said they could get one made for me within a few days. ( I ended up getting a friend to machine it for me) I'd be livid with them having my money for that length of time!
  25. It's definitely grown on me. The first thing I heard about it was when I read this thread, then coincidently 10 minutes later my card turned up! It's up in the living room now and the more I look at it the more I like the fact that the cars a bit on the dirty side. The white and black car really works with the background and it's just a really nice scene. Nice one guys/gals!
