    263 cams

Are the sensor, sprocket and bolt on the front cam the same as on the rear? £40 for a bolt sounds a bit excessive?!

    263 cams

Might as well drag this thread back up, I'm going to be fitting some Autotech 262 cams in a couple of weeks and just trying to prepare as best I can, does anyone know the part number for the cam sprocket bolts as I've read that it's good to use a new set. Vagcat seems to be down at the moment so I can't check myself. Does anyone have any spare sprockets laying about? Andy
  3. I know a good Porsche specialist in Wallingford Sean? unless that's where you've already taken it!
  4. Not jealous at all! :D Looking forward to spotting it on the drive home from work this week Andy

    Rear ABS ring??

Anyone know the part number for these search/vagcat doesn't throw it up! Andy
  6. Just had a thought- Once you've taken the front end off, how do you keep the bonnet up?!! Also, as the car will be in the air for a few days at least, is it better to use a couple of old alloys to support the car, or are axle stands fine? Andy
  7. Congratulations! Been watching this project for a while, good luck getting it running right. Andy
  8. Some cards also do Balance Transfers to current accounts with highly reduced interest rates - Virgin for example. HTH Andy
  9. How do you like these apples!? :D http://wiki.the-corrado.net/category_engine_bay.html
  10. I have to swap VR engines in a couple of weeks too and I'm in the same position, having never swapped an engine before! I don't currently have an engine lift, but as I'm taking the whole front end off anyway, can I just wheel engines in and out on a bottle jack? Is it ok to support an engine with all the weight on the sump? I guess you'd put a wooden board between the jack and sump? Also, can you just undo the bolts joining the downpipe to the cat instead of the manifold bolts? I would of thought they'd be easier to get to? Thanks, Andy
  11. Just wanted to echo everyone elses thoughts really. That video clip especially brings home how heartbreaking it would be. Litte consolation but there's now a ire extinguisher in my passenger undertray, so at least some good may come from it. Good luck with the insurance company too. Andy
  12. Yup 7mm. Careful when tightening them up as I sheared mine by tightening too much. Not fun getting that drilled out of the carrier I can tell you! Andy
  13. Hmm I guess I should stay with genuine as I'll soon have 300+ BHP going through the front end :D Suprising that TPS are more expensive for Tie Rods than VW themselves though!
  14. Would you say that it's worth the extra to get Tie Rods from VW? I've been looking around for complete Tie Rods and been quoted: 75 per side from VW, 78 + VAT(!) from TPS and VW-spares do them for 17 + VAT. I know pattern bushes are a no no, but will AVS/VW-spares Tie Rods be ok as its just basically a metal rod!? Andy
  15. Thanks for that, I did replace a tail light bulb the other day with one I had laying about, so that may well of caused it. I'll take a look at lunch! :)
  16. Hi, Just been informed by one of my friends that everytime I brake, my dip beam comes on. Has anyone experienced this before? I've got a pretty new headlight switch, but not ruling that out I guess. I'm just not sure of where the brake pedal wire comes into contact with the headlight wire? Any ideas folks? Andy
  17. That's what I was thinking! I was under the impression I could use the 0-5v signal the MAF produces to connect to the controller.
  18. Hey guys, In the final stages of assembling the parts for my Rotrex install now. I'm just going to order a meth/water injection kit from Devilsown . They have advised me to go with this kit: http://www.methanol-injection.co.uk/product_info.php?cPath=21&products_id=55 which will mean I have to buy and fit a MAP sensor into the manifold. I just wanted to know how much a 2.5 bar MAP sensor was roughly, and how to go about fitting one to my manifold? Thanks, Andy
  19. Love the MK4 R32s too, I think the Mk5/6s all look to similar and a bit too tall tbh.
  20. Iits inspiring seeing threads like this. I've got to rip my vr out to put a new lump in next month and seeing stuff like this makes it a whole bunch less daunting! Good luck getting it all back in and running! Andy

    BBS ch 17x8"

CHs are amazing! Get them bought.
  22. Looking good Mort! Must be very exciting. I'm gonna be taking my current engine out in a few weeks too. Do you have to take the inlet off, or is just to make accessing the exhaust manifold easier? Andy
  23. Gone quiet in here lately, so thought I better revive it! Well, my Rotrex is ordered! Went for C30-84 in the end and will get a couple of pulley sizes to be safe coming mapping time. Now it's just time to start ordering all the bits Currently got 8.5:1 spacer on it's way and waiting on some 440cc injectors I've got in the pipeline. Will pick up ARP head and Rod bolts, 262 cams and HD lifters when I'm in the states next month so everything should be ready to roll come April :D:D Also just secured the use of my mates lockup to build the engine and do the whole conversion in so everythings looking rather peachy at the moment! Andy.
  24. I've been thinking about this lately. Tracker sounds good, as does a removable wheel. Would be interested to hear opinions too.
  25. Yeah I got some 10mm longer wheel bolts so everythings safe! Just struggled to get everything lined up properly as my disc securing screws are snapped. Ended up getting a long M14 wheel centering bolt from MetalNerd.com in the states. Wheel changes should take a couple of mins instead of a couple of hours now! :D Should have some exciting info to update with later mwahhahaha
