I think it's just really crap driving standards overall, but as an old driver in an old car I suppose I annoy just about everyone.

Spent hours trying to fix battery drain. Failed. Try something different tomorrow. Removed all matches and other sources of ignition from the house in case patience finally gives up.
-
It was working, but weather permitting, I'm going to pull the door apart tomorrow to see if I can find anything without causing a short and setting it on fire. I think I know the bit you are talking about as I had that problem before.

Quick check would be to pull out the plugs and have a look at them. They should be a light brownish colour at the tip. If the are black and sooty it indicates a rich mixture. Not conclusive by any means but a good quick guide.

A short time ago the battery on the car was going flat after a couple of days. Connected a bulb between the battery terminal and the battery lead and it lit up better than the headlights. Pulled all the fuses one at a time with no luck. Had a search on the forum, discovered a “hidden” fuse at the top of the fusebox and voila! Bulb went out. The Electric windows and central locking stopped working as well. Replaced the fuse and they worked again. Fitted a replacement control module which didn’t resolve the problem. For others disconnecting the module. The control module has three plugs on it, a small black one, a small brown one and a large white one. The two small ones disconnected easily but the white one would move, this seems common from my searches on here. I gave it a light spray with WD40 and left it for an hour or so and it still showed no sign of moving. I got a very thin, flat blade screwdriver and gently eased round the sides of the connector, not trying to prize it out, just trying to ease the fitting and heard a couple of light clicks, left it for another cup of coffee and tried removing it with my fingers which didn’t do much so I prised it at the ends with the aforementioned screwdriver. It gave another light click and moved and I was able to pull it out. After examination there was no damage to either the module or connector so I can only conclude that the plastic had somehow grown together making it almost impossible to remove. Anyway, back to my problem. When I replaced the fuse all the windows worked and the central locking worked on everything other than the drivers door, which tried to pop up but dropped back down instantly. I’m pretty useless at electrical things and just looking at the multi coloured spaghetti in the fuse box area gives me the collywobbles and no way I want to go near that. I can however disconnect plugs and things, so - if I work my way round the electrical connections in the door , unplugging them would this show up the faulty unit or am I clutching at straws. Any form of help gratefully appreciated.

I know exactly how you feel mate, mine got whacked by a hit and run a few weeks ago. My first impulse was to scrap it, then break it but with the usual support from this forum I am repairing it. Like you I don't know nuch about bodywork but I intend to learn as I go, just taking my time.

It's a thought and I'm tempted but this year I'm organising monthly poetry nights to try and revive the "Arts" heritage in the town, about another six or seven events for the Scottish Mental Health Arts and Film festival, working with the Local Authority arranging Fringe events for the National Mod's visit to Paisley. This in addition to my usual round of "literary events I attend regularly. It's hard work being a poet and performer of traditional music.

Try a look at these http://www.corrado-club.ca/mods/LCD.html http://direct.the-corrado.net/showthread.php?46064-How-to-change-blub-in-instrumental-panel Have a look through this, there are a few links to other items on the subject. This might help too. http://forums.vwvortex.com/showthread.php?1766647

Offered the Corrado a glass of champagne but it said it was a petroltataller.

On increasing ther speed limit to 80. The study, published online in the British Medical Journal, also said a higher limit could increase gas emissions and air pollution as well as lead to obesity, with more people taking advantage of shorter car journeys. So this 10 stone weakling better slow down. Or stop farting. http://uk.news.yahoo.com/crash-fear-over-higher-speed-limit-233324221.html

You Ba**a*rd. I've just retired and had a reasonable plan for filling my time. Now you pop up with this???? Lovely work mate, keep it up and you could have a business in the offing. Unfortunately I don't have the time, got a Corrado to fix

Why are all the meets etc so far away from me? Ponders, I would really like to go to them but 2 or 3 hundred miles takes a bit of explaining to She who must be obeyed, occasoinally

Umpteem percent of it is already covered, though it may hit the tinted light people and the no CAT but passes the test crowd. Dependant on the tester of course.

Not ended. Following the recent attack on my Corrado by something big dragonfir3 offered me several big dod'sfree of charge to help me fix it. Now this is what I call a really friendly, let's help, forum. This place is of this world. What may have been another Corrado broken up will continue.

If you are still interested in the bonnet let me and trevyt know as I am heading down there to pick up stuff and passing tour way on the way home. Final collection of the bonnet can be worked out as we go.
-
Hi Trev Should be heading your way on the weekend of 14th and 15th of the month, weather permitting, to pick up the wing if that would be OK with you.
-
Today is the Corrado's 21st birthday. I took it out for a drink of Ultimate and a wander round some waterlogged country roads. Later I will share a bottle of bubbly with it, (Not smash it over the bonnet as the wife suggested.) As for presents, I'm organising a country long trip to London and Somerset to get a replacement bumper, wing, indicators and anything else it needs after it was attacked by a big car who ran away.

Welcome to THE forum

Congratulations and well done the Corrado. My grandson was born about 3 minutes after we got his mother out of my Corrado. Just one set of red lights and he would have been born in the car.
-
Definitely interested in the drivers wing, much better than the mangled mess on mine. I'll have to look into travel arrangements so will get back to you when I know what I'm doing. Will probably be in the next couple of weeks if I can manage it.

Few questions for the corrado genius's out there!
Wullie replied to duncgti's topic in General Car Chat
Wiper relay is 99, available from a scrap yard near you. any VW, Passat etc of recent vintage have them, and sometimes they just jump into a secret pocket, strange. Earlier one is 19 which does NOT have variable wipe. -
Development. Being of a recently retired nature and having the time and inclination, the mate and me have kinda decided that it would be a nice wee run in the campervan (in a totally bloke kind of way) down to Somerset and that type of kinda area. Thus, depending on pics of the bits I want, it may be possible to pick up parts for anyone who buys parts off of trevyt as long as they can meet on the M5/ M6 corridor back to Paisley.

Unfortunately that's about 400 odd miles away. I'm interested in front bumper, drivers wing and drivers side indicator, Could you post pics of bumper and wing to see the paint problem and dent? Will move on from there if you are able to post/courier them to Paisley.. Wullie
