  1. Apologies for the late reply, was out being literary. They just screw out, no water leakage at all as the appear to just sit blank drillings. I was quite surprised as I was all poised unscrewing with one hand and the new one in the other ready to go in. And not a drop!
  2. There is a regular meet "Dub Preservation" @ Sherburn in Elmet - Squires Cafe. 1st Thursday of each month - 19.00hrs. Why did I suddenly think Formaldehyde??
  3. I've just been sick all over my keyboard.
  4. Went down to the stealers for the intake elbow only to be told it's obsolete. Young girl on the reception desk heard me say Corrado and asked if I had it with me. Told her it was in the car park. When I returned to the car she was looking at it and said it was lovely and looked "growly"??. Took her for a [strike:xov14nlr]ride[/strike:xov14nlr] drive in it round the bingo car park and she reckons it's better than the Scirocco cos it's got character. Going down next week to pick up some bit's I'd ordered so if I can get hold of some Viagra I may just ask her out (That's just and old man fantasizing)
  5. Fitted new rear wheel bearings and cast a general eye over other MOT-able parts. Nothing looks too diabolical. As I've been having a bit of a problem with stuttering when cold (Runs fine when warmed up a bit, about a mile) I fitted new plugs, plug leads, dizzy cap. Did a compression test with the following results No 1-11.5, No 2-12.5, No 3- 11.5, No 4 11.5 bar. Not sure why 2 is higher, maybe the cylinder was a bit wet. I'll give them another check after a few runs and a good belt down the motorway. How are these figures generally, the engine has done 189,000 miles? Discovered a crack in the rubber elbow that connects the final bit of the air intake to the throttle body which may just explain the stuttering. Went to the local stealers only to be told they are obsolete. The part number on mine 027 133 649 D doesn't exist and should be 027 133 643 apparently. Bugger. Also ordered a set of the plastic seat runner clips while I was there. I love this car, don't know why, I just do.
  6. Ach well, even a lunatic is entitled to their opinion, however misguided it may be. Probably why they drive Vauxhalls.
  7. The spade connectors just slide on over the round "button" top of the connector. Instead of the wire sticking straight out from the connector it will be at right anges. Edit:- Just like the one in the centre of your pic, the lighter coloured one. They just screwed in as normal and got connected.
  8. It's been a while since I did any of these but we used to use hard setting Hermetite, the green stuff I think. Put a bead on the lip inside the block, smear some round the outside edge of the plug then tap the plug into place only tapping on the outside edges till it's fully in place. When it's there give the centre of the plug a smack to knock a dent in it. This expands the sides to grip the block. If you dent the centre too much it will overdo it and the plug won't seal properly. If you can see an already fitted plug you'll see what I mean
  9. I had the same when I changed mine. Same sensor, just a different connector. Didn't cause any problems.
  10. That is horrendous. Makes you wonder what gets taught in schools nowadays.
  11. I askedas mine is non sunroof and someone said in another topic about it being quite unique.
  12. Slightly off topic but how uncommon are non sunroof models.
  13. The alarm system on my car does this. There is a switch on the alarm control module tagged "Anti Hijack" which you can set on or off.
  14. Do you perhaps need a haircut?
  15. That brought a tear to my eye.
  16. Well I had Alonso in the pub sweep. Did two things, made a clown of myself shouting at the telly and felt so embarrased at winning I put the money in the charity box. The whole affair was utter sh**e
  17. Stop pretending, it's mine. I was parked up there prior to taking the next flying saucer to Mars. Ooooh I wish.
  18. Correct. Just to add that caps No 1 and No 5 are at the cambelt end of the engine (NOT the cam chain that connects the two shafts). There should also be a notched corner on each cap which is fitted on the front side of the engine. (Looks as if the corner has been filed off)
  19. The circle thingy is a casting ID mark and decoded wil give you the date the manifold was cast. If I remember right there should be two numbers in the outermost ring which are the year, then as you work in arrows or lines point out the minth and day. Or something like that. You'll find similar marks on a lot of parts, including plastic mouldings.
  20. missing the exhaust?? I like the stance tho, bet you, it has to bee mean looking from the front. Looks like it's having a crap! Just one step too far for me
  21. Bet there are a few stained underpants here. http://uk.eurosport.yahoo.com/blogs/wor ... cle/18609/
  22. Parked it in the drive and looked at it for a while and thought, "My MOT's next month." Bugger, then hoped for some dry weather so I can estimate the cost. Then had a sub-thought about how much I hate speedbumps and topmounts and bushes and all things suspension cos my neck aches for dats after I've been lying under it for hours. Then I drove it to the supermarket and didn't care..
  23. I had to read this twice, the second time more slowly, before I realised it was about drag racing. Wait a minute, DRAG racing? I must try and get to one of these events to observe.
  24. If I remember correctly 99 is the wiper relay with adjustable intermittent wipe. Fits in the bottom row of relays, first or second in from the centre of the car.
