  1. Green one in JR Volkswagen in Paisley the other day. Was being chauffered by the missus in her "Thing" so only caught a glimpse.
  2. they did in 2005 ! and its a locked thread viewtopic.php?f=19&t=31462 I'm not that old!! And anyway, didn't discover the best Corrado forum till recently
  3. Who's Man U? I'm a St Mirren supporter. Erm, whos'e St Mirren??
  4. I reckon I'll give it a go as well. Look out for the headlines. "Car bursts into flames in driveway" which is slightly better that "Car bursts into flame on motorway" This electricity stuff is puzzling, don't trust anything I can't see.
  5. Clever boy. I just need to be led by the hand most of the time. Would the fuse holder etc from Halfords do the same job? there isn't a Maplins near me.
  6. You know that is such a sensible mod I'm surprised that no one has ever done it before. Well done my man.
  7. Oh God, decisions decisions. I would be teetotal now if I hadn't already got one. By the way, Wetherspoons are running a real ale festival type of thing at the moment. Good beers at a sensible price. Pity I'm so sensible or I'd be blootered constantly. Oh, and thinking about it logically, I suppose if the sensor switches the fan off by creating an earth it would switch it off when the temperature drops breaking the connection. Isn't aftersight a wonderful thing. Thanks again for your help. Wullie
  8. Aw for god's sake get real. Your comparing the performance of an aging car with a newer one or a mega modified one. What do you really expect. I drive my C, not for it's performance against some modern squirt machine but for the total experience. OK it's not as fast, not as quick 0 to 60 or whatever but I just had a traffic cop wanting to buy mine. You either buy into the enjoyment of owning and driving a Corrado or you don't. If you do, love it. If you don't, don't come moaning on here how bad they are, cos they're not....................
  9. Had mine about 12 years and decided it's not white, it's invisible.
  10. Great, I'll get one ASAP. Mind you £5:00 is 2.5 pints of real ale from my local wetherspoons. I'm going to feel deprived.
  11. I had the same problem several years ago and ended up getting a new dizzy. Tried a lot of things, normal and innovative with the old one but never stopped the oil leaking.
  12. Thanks Farrantino. The problem is that the sensor doesn't appear to be working but the fan does run on at times when it is connected and I was wondering if anything else controls it. I'll need to get a new one anyway but every penny is a prisoner at the moment. Where did you get yous and how much was it? Thanks Wullie
  13. I cheat I suppose. A couple of months before the MOT I get my mechanic to run his eye over it and give me a list of anything that needs done then I fix them before it goes in. Result it never fails the actual MOT.
  14. Went to start the car this morning and the battery was flat, it's been a bit sluggish in the mornings. When I lifted the bonnet to jump start it from the wife's "Thing" the cooling fan was running. I pulled the lead from the fan run on sensor and it still ran so I disconnected the plug at the radiator, started it and went into work. Tried it during my break and it started OK and again later. On the way home I got stuck in traffic and the temps started to get high but got home before they got too high. When I got home it got I reconnected everything and the upshot is that when the run on sensor is connected nothing happens, the fan doesn't turn. Remove the connector from it and short it to the head and the fan runs suggesting the sensor is duff. I reconnected it and was out tonight and when I came home the fan ran on as if everything was working OK but when I went to the car 20 minutes later the fan was still running. Disconnected the run on sensor and it still ran. Disconnected the fan and left t for a couple of seconds, reconnected it and the fan stayed stopped. Reconnected the sensor, the fan stayed stopped. Shorted the sensor connection to the head and the fan started running and stopped when I took it off the head. I've now disconnected the sensor and taped up the connection. But what the heck is going on? Anyone got any ideas or am I missing something obvious. The car is a 1.8 16v 1990

    Help !!

B*****cks, where did that bolt come from?! From the driveshaft??? :D
  16. Could be. Try loosening or removing the drive belt first and give the pulley a good shaking about to see if you can feel any play or movement in it. Try to get the pump and the area around it as dry and oil free as possible. Wullie
  17. Yup, ISV buzzes/hums all the time the ignition is switched on though whn I cleaned mine recently it was so quiet you could actually feel it by touch more than hear it.
  18. On closer inspection of the pictures your pulley looks to have been deformed a bit. This could cuse some wierd loadings on the pump bearings and seals cusing a leak. Just a thought.
  19. There's to much oil there to make much of a diagnosis. I would suggest cleaning it all off as best you can then run the engine and get someone to run the steering from lock to lock and see what occurs. Powdering the area with talc sometimes makes the leak easier to trace.
  20. ISV buzzes whith the ignition on.
  21. Maybe too obvious but have you checked the belt? May be worn or needing tightened up.
  22. Excellent find and thanks for putting it up. Ironically I notice they show Sebring cebtre caps. They'll have done that just to annoy me.
  23. Was passing an artic on the M6 when it ran over a fox which kind of exploded. Most of it's internals were spread over my car. Two car washes refused me entry till one took pity and allowed me to hose it down round the back. Disgusting is not quite strong enough a descrotion. Was finding blood and entrails for weeks after it.
  24. Anyone else heard a rumour that one of the teams have approached VW about supplying engines, or have I overdosed on real ale?
  25. The fan is designed to run on to cool the engine bay and prevent fuel vapourisation. See viewtopic.php?f=1&t=91664#p1059526
