CF F1 Fantasy League 09 -Final results...who won, who lost?
Wullie replied to The_Dude's topic in General Car Chat
Best seat in Brazil? -
He'd bollocked me a couple of weeks before for cutting through some local roadworks to get to the petrol station. There doesn't seem to be many C's about my area so it gets noticed by those who like quality cars, not thay mines a prime example. Redundancy and a mortgage limit what you'd like to do. That said most of the taxi drivers etc ask about the car when I climb in and a few have asked to be advised if I ever think of selling it. If I'd the relative success with my writing as I've had owning a Corrado I may have become better off financailly. Ah well, that's life I suppose. Keep your fingers crossed for me, I've just finished a novel and it's being considered by a publisher. Move over JK Rowling, it's my turn now.

Had the wierdest chuftie ever. I was walking home about 2 am having had a couple of beers when the police pulled up and asked what I was up to and where was I going and what did I have in the bag. "I'm going home and all that's in the bag is poetry books" says I, whereupon the driver gets out and checks the bag. He clocks that the name on the books is mine and asks about it and then gets back into the car. The guy in the passenger seat then gets out and says, "Are you the guy with the white Corrado?" "Yes." I says, so he invites me into the car and they give me a lift home where they have a look around the car, with the passenger saying he fancies getting one himself and I should give it a wash and sort out the wear on the drivers bolster. Then as a bonus the driver bought one of my books. Are our police getting soft on Corrado owners?

I've decided to follow the "nmahi" guide to Corrado maintenance and cleaned out the throttle body as per his guide. After about half a tonn of dirt and rubbish the car does feel better and the exhaust note has a crisper note. Wasn't expecting that. Thanks once more nmahi, what have you got lined up for me next.

I use JR Volkswagen in Fulbar Road Paisley. Never had a problem with anything he's done to mine and he recently fitted a front wheel bearing to mine. Unfortunately I can't tell you how much he charged as he hasn't got round to giving me a bill. Not really too far from you either.

9A (KE-Jet) won't start - but will with FP relay removed
Wullie replied to Trev16v's topic in Engine Bay
Does the 9A have a cold start valve? Could be stuck open and just pumping fuel into the engine. -
Quick pic of the Lower grille under the bumper on my 1.8 valver. Not very good as I was lying on the drive jammed up against the fence but it should give you the idea. Edit Oops, it sideways

But in your first post you say you "when i helped with mots in a garage if anyone came in with minor problems we fixed as we went" or does the above only apply to airfresheners. One of the biggest complaints about MOT's is inconsistancy, sometimes this is just down to human error but your initial post is nothing short of victimisation. Could you let me know the name of the garage? I have relatives in Sherborne and I would like to let them know to steer well clear of it. Wonders. If a bird shits on the windscreen as its moved from the car park to the test bay would that be an automatic failure cos you can't wipe it clean?
-
And you're bragging about failing a car for an air freshener. What does that say. The MOT is trying to fail someone for any reason cos you don't like him or what! At least the garage I get my MOT's done is honest. If its not up to scratch fail it and say why or pass it if it;s OK.

Sounded like the alternator wasn't charging in the first post till you threw in the seat problem. I'd still check the alternator charge first before going any further. Being a true Scot, always look for the cheapest fix first before going into meltdown

If I lift the bonnet of mine after copious amounts of real ale my valver has two engines and 32 valves to go with both rare Karmann interiors.
-
If it's the same as the 1.8 valver then you need it raised on a ramp to get the downpipe and exhaust off in one piece. I found it impossible to get off with the car on axle stands and evetually used an angle grinder just after the bend in the twin pipe. With the silencer out of the way I could turn the and wiggle it out. Towed it to the garage to get it raised on the ramp to put the new one in.

How to change blub in instrumental panel
Wullie replied to nmahi's topic in [Archive] Wiki Submissions & Collaboration
Thanks for this. I had intended to strip out the cluster this weekend to replace the high beam light and was dreading the hassle of getting it in and out. Read this half an hour ago and the jobs done. :D Thanks again for a great little guide  -
Similar problem on my 1.8 16v. The switch on the radiator was covered in white corrosion. Cleaned it all up, a bit of vaseline and all has ben well since.

Mine hit 186,186 today. It's been a faithfull wee car and hasn't thrown me any major grief, crosses fingers. Find the best one you can for your budget and look after it.

Mine was held on by a couple of lonf self tappers through the holes in the number plate. Then, after doing abit of DIY round the house fitting bathroom shelves I had an idea??? Used a couple of those rawlplug alloy plasterboard fixings that you put in the wall and tighten a proper threaded bolt to collapse it against the back of the wall. Drilled out the self tapper holes to let the fixing through and tightened them into place, removed the bolt, replaced the number plate panel and number plate using the bolts to secure the whole thing. Hold everything in place neatly and as I rust proofed and painted all the bare metal should last a while.

Knocking noise from drivers side front wheel area!
Wullie replied to ANDREW 30's topic in Drivetrain
Check the anti roll bar drop link bushes are OK and that the link itself isn't broken -
I'll probably break something taking it off. Up until now I've just taken the hose off the front and sprayed cleaner into it.

I'd quite like an idiots guide to this, me being an idiot.
-
Hmmm! Naw. Theyre too big. Looks as if it should have a team of horses in front and a tribe of Indians chasing it firing arrows and things.
-
Tie the new one to the roof with plenty of padding till you get it home?
-
And remember the left hand thread on the securing screw.
-
Check the engine mountings before diving into anything else.

yeah, what's that all about? straight bits, right angled bits, all quite dense grey stuff, must be for sound but it's just rammed in, in no particular obvious arrangement. I have this in mine. I was under the impression that it was fitted on the recall for blowing heater matrix's. Other than that I have no idea.
