good point Dox if there are more than 1 key & they have different code chips in them it will cause the engine to start & then cut out - i had this when i changed my ignition barrel FYI if it is related it should be possible to split the plastic part of the key & swap the chip over ;) Rishi - if you do a search on here there was a recent post about the collar....in fact ive found it as i had posted on it - try this http://the-corrado.net/showthread.php?t=85523

could it possibly be something to do with the immobiliser collar around the ignition that is not communicating with the immobiliser itself IIRC someone on here had a similar issue & it turned out to be a fault with the wire which goes from the collar to the fuse board

Watch those prices rise - its says so here!

superb! thanks jim & joe i had seen the image was open slat but thought id ask anna to confirm just in case it was a stock image as you say anna - quick response as ever & thank you for confirmation :)

Anna - could you please confirm if the 'late' grille is the summer type with open slats? rather than the so called 'winter' type which has the closed slots in the grille thanks

Halfords will indeed mix up the paint for you & in relatively small quantities too. Though i doubt they would be in aerosol can form - mine was just in a small pot

Winner!!! Well done for hanging in there!

Good luck wit this DPS! The thread started with such sadness but the support & solidarity of this forum has hopefully turned it on its head & you will back in your rado with a huge grin very soon :)

Classic Car Insurance Quote - Me being Lazy - Is this quite good?
g0ldf1ng3r replied to Leonard's topic in Insurance
Ive not long renewed my VR insurance & found Martin at HIC to be very helpful. They will cover mods & also offer agreed value for modded cars. Martin produced the lowest quote i could find without compromising the policy. He posts on here m8 -
I saw this yesterday too Jim & agree though its a way off at least the GOV have restarted the rolling scheme. Fingers crossed the rado's will get a nice value increase when it happens - i know from working on the camper vans that those which qualify for tax exemption always demand a higher figure 20 ish years for my VR but only another 4 for my dads 911 - which should hopefully coincide with getting it back on the road :D

IIRC does removing said snorkel not have a detrimental effect on the way the air flow is designed to move through the standard air box?
-
Is that not preference from your festishes tho chris ;) lol
-
Ive recently had one put on mine whilst it was at Stealth - you could try giving Vince a call & asking where he gets them PS my god it makes the VR sound awesome!!!!!

WOW that is super cheap!! too cheap possibly, surely!?

from my experience OEM just arent what they used to be :( my last set of front rotors & pads were genuine from VW & as i have intermittent ABS i found that they more often than not locked up extremely quickly under heavy braking & even when i was cautious not to jump on the pedal too hard but then steadily increase the pressure applied. the EBC stuff doesnt seem to suffer this any where near as much also, i was very disappointed when the front discs barely lasted as long as 1 set of pads - from my notes this was approx 22K miles but my main issue was with the rears as the pads were not chamfered on the back of the pad & even now i get horrible squealing noises when braking going backwards. yes i could have taken them out & put a chamfer on them myself but other brake companies do that as standard so why not those who supply VW
-
Hello there :) Have you a rado or are you hunting for one?
-
ive been running EBC ultimax rotors with greenstuff pads on the front of my VR & have been very impressed with them over OEM i need to replace rear rotors & pads soon & am thinking putting the ultimax rotors on again but with the red stuff pads, however my concern is what their response is like when cold - have you tried the red stuff?

Thanks Duvel! The Jag looks superb!! & it looks like you have a cracking workshop over there. Out of curiosity, what is the motor in the background of the gunmetaljag pic - you can see the bonnet is tilted upright? -
