we dont drive on roads any more - we drive round holes with bits of tarmac/pebbles/clay/sand/whatevertheidiotsfeellikelaying kind of connecting them :( i would be pursuing a claim against your local council m8

Wow you would have your work cut out with that one on the link! it looks like a full nut & bolt restoration could be required there how are your mechanic skills etc? would you be intending to carry out all the work yourself? there is a buying guide on here which lists the main points & things to look for oh & welcome by the way :)

i had similar when i went from OEM to non OEM gear knob i fixed it by removing the leather gaitor & putting a small rubber ring/gromet round the shaft, then put the leather gaitor back on & once the gear knob was tightened up fully i could move the rubber ring up through the leather so as it holds it up against the bottom of the gear knob i hope that makes sense! far too many knobs & shafts in one sentence for my liking lol

im not too far away from birmingham either - eyes will be hunting for it i really hope you get it back & then castrate the mother f**kers!!
-
im not sure about the fuel pump sorry m8 your experience doesnt seem silly, it may have been a struggle but you have not only saved money but also learnt more about your rado....which is never a bad thing ;)

No worries m8, it was nice to see that your motor had progressed so much on my last visit there. I may even see it again soon as unfortunately it looks like my VR will be having to go back there once again as its still not right :( Solitudes are wrapped up nice & warm in my gf's garage ready to have quick detail & then transfer onto her storm when the weather improves - thank you once again for them!!
-
great news m8 i thought it might be a shot in the dark but really happy that it fixed your issue :) FYI i didnt have a wiring issue with mine, the original barrel collapsed so i purchased a new one & fitted it myself but VW had insisted the keys were not chipped when they definitely are. i managed to argue the point & got VW to reprogram it to the new key free of charge regarding your other wires - i would check all electrics etc & see if anything else is not working. other than that someone with a workshop manual may be able to look it up & tell you what those wires are meant for
-
could it possibly be that one or more of those wires are for the immobiliser ring, which read the chip in the key, around the ignition barrel. I know that when i changed my ignition barrel, & prior to arguing with VW that the keys are indeed chipped, the symptoms were similar. IE the car would start but would then almost immediately die thus im thinking if said ring is not connected to the fuse board it could act the same I dont have my workshop manual to check sorry but hopefully someone can on here

Hi Nick Just wanted to say its great to read about the progress with the turbo - i had a good chat with Vince about how it was going last time i was there a couple of weeks ago The custom straight through exhaust looks peachy & that was in its pre-fab phase!!

The "what I did to my Corrado today" thread...
g0ldf1ng3r replied to Jim's topic in General Car Chat
^^ what he said & exactly why mine is a daily!! :D -
Roger - if you email oilman on here with your car specs, mileage & history he will use his expert knowledge to recommend you an oil :) I have used the Fuchs Pro S brand for the last 50k on my VR, from 90k upwards, thanks to his recommendation & explanation of why you should use an esther based fully synthetic oil over a mineral or semi synthetic (there is a great post on here about it) I would also recommend checking your oil pressure when the engine is still cold & has only ran for a couple of minutes as this will show if your oil pump is ok, as if it is struggling it wont be circulating the oil properly & could be the cause of your noise

if you do an advanced search on here there is a full guide with pictures etc on how to replace the matrix ;)
-
Hmm interesting! I tried the log out & back in trick & this seems to have stopped the arse :) FYI admins - i did not close my browser, i logged out, closed the individual tab, opened a new tab & logged back in
