  1. Ha ha ha & there was me having thoughts along the lines of 'I wish that damn headlight buzzer wouldnt sound when the passenger door opened' i thought it was a VW function lol

    Leather care

some time ago i was chatting to tim shaw from the old 5th gear program & he mentioned he was restoring an old 993 - he said the leather on the seats in it were quite cracked & he had used gliptone leather dye & restorer, combined with a cool iron & tea towel or similar to reduce them. apparently the very small fatty cells discreted by us humans get into the leather & cause the cracks - thus by treating the leather with the product & then running a cool iron over it (with said cloth inbetween to protect the leather) the fatty cells are drawn into the cloth & out of the leather ive not tried it yet myself but it is on the 'to-do' list
  4. my apologies flexso - i remembered my MOT is up in the next 2 weeks & thus need to get that out of the way 1st I will keep checking here after that is done tho
  5. Good work VW Rule!! Lots of info for you Clinton & a welcome from all of us here :) Feel free to post pics once you have viewed it!
  6. OK thanks m8, much appreciated! Oooo the pending decisions lol ---------- Post added at 4:27 PM ---------- Previous post was at 4:26 PM ---------- Hi Yega Hope you dont mind me asking but what price did your custom exhaust come in at? I have spoke to turbo thomas in redditch, where i live & who made the exhaust for our van at vantasialtd, & he estimated around £700 ish mark :s
  7. I had heard that coullstar but wasnt sure without seeing figures exhausts for vr6's seems a nightmare at present & ive been looking on/off for a few months :(
  8. thanks portent, great info!! Bugger!!! looks like an expensive hi-flow CAT it is then $$$ :(
  9. this thread is along the same lines..... http://the-corrado.net/showthread.php?37397-What-are-the-emissions-on-a-VR6 Kevin Bacon - how did you used to handle your de-CAT & MOT's? Thanks in advance ;)
  10. interesting!! i wonder what the difference in emission levels are when a VR6 runs with CAT & then without.....anyone?
  11. thats a good question! i would be keen to find out too. what year is yours? i was of the thought that if the vehicle has a CAT then it will always need one to pass MOT but hopefully someone in the know can clarify
  12. Quote received via email today - the most competitive in the hunt so far....
  13. IIRC Back in the day when most of us used the post office for car tax renewal there was a section on the renewal form for mileage but i think it was optional PS I would highly recommend inspecting the running gear thoroughly - front wishbone bushes, cv boots, tie rod ends etc etc as from experience they are rather expensive jobs to do but make a massive improvement to ride comfort & handling
  14. It is always a good idea to check the service history, obviously, for mileage records but also the old tax discs - as they show if the owner had the mileage recorded each time the tax was renewed ;)
  15. Welcome! nice to see another rado living outside of UK! My parents built a house in the Charentes Maritime region of france & i hope to 1 day take my VR6 on a journey down there so as to sample the lovely SMOOTH french roads (well the main roads are fairly hole free lol)
  16. Does anyone know if another group buy for these would be possible? I know i would buy 2 sets, as would several other people on this thread ;) oooops only just looked at rest of thread & saw the post about quality & a 1st run not happening....nevermind a 2nd lol I wonder if stueyB managed to make any progress with a supplier?
  17. did you go back to them about the pricing? (you mentioned it in an earlier reply)
  18. Welcome! Its great to see new members fulfilling their rado desires :)
  19. My pet hate & rants often happen when other drivers are not able to drive according to the highway code under which they passed their driving license test the most often annoyance is when they feel it is their 'right' to be driving in the 'over taking' lane (as per the highway code the UK does not have a 'middle' of 'fast' lane, only 2 overtaking lanes in which you should reside in only for the time it takes to overtake the slower moving cars) & refuse to move over despite the fact they are there are zero cars in front of them or to the side of them..... & then they get angry & abusive when, after having being patient & waited for them to not move over, i flash them with full beam once to request they move I normally refuse to undertake these idiots as it is against the highway code & is dangerous & often respond to their hand gestures with a wave lol
  20. The manual winder is indeed under the trim where the cabin light & sun roof switch are.......if you pop the light out there are 2 screws to remove & the trim slides off, there should be an allen key in a little clip holder & next to a small black plastic part which rotates to revel the winder. I cant remember which way it is but clockwise tilts & anticlockwise slides (or vice versa) Its a 30 second task & i keep a screw driver in my dash just in case it ever sticks open & its raining lol Hope that helps
  21. Yup sounds about right lol It does it in mine too - i looked at replacing the level mechanism but thought id live with it until it packs in
  22. Thanks! are you able to put some pics up so as to show no fraying or splits etc please? Also, can you confirm they are from a UK RHD corrado?
