  4. well found!!! now that is a build that i want to read in detail :D
  5. Well hello there :D pictures we all like to see? ;)
  6. Thanks kev!!! i have always wondered why nearly all other VW's ive been in had a dash reading around 90 but my VR sits around 70!! lol
  7. thanks fender - you have pretty much confirmed what i was thinking :) i had better mail vince & ask him to adjust the quote
  8. thanks fender & dave!! i already have a thermostat, housing & seals etc from VW in a box ready & waiting I will get onto the stealer about sensors & housing bolts thanks too for offering to check your receipts later dave - with the quote im already looking at im hoping the pumps are not too expensive but even if they are i think it might be wise to change them anyway
  9. Hi daves16v im in process of organising a top end rebuild & some other bits with stealth & have been pondering whether or not to ask vince to replace my water pumps & temp sensors whilst the engine is apart & as i am replacing all coolant hoses. Presently i dont have any cooling issues but im thinking it might be a wise move to replace them when the work happens rather than have to fork out for more labour should they fail after the work can you recall the costs of the sensors & water pumps? & did you use VW or OEM parts? thanks :)
  10. Could i have a no logo vr6 version as well pls :)
  11. yup its the normal vpower price.......ive just got back from my local shell garage & they have changed to it (or at least they have changed the labels on the pumps lol)
  12. lucky boy!!! done :) PS my gf loved my rado so much she has just brought herself a mystic blue storm :D
  13. very generous Jim!! & a great example of how good this forum is & how the majority of us are nice people :D forgot to mention.......really pleased you got your motor back dave & good luck making it so that you couldnt tell it had received abuse from the scum!!
  14. Ha ha excellent Jim i think your right!! ;) I wasnt sure how much i could or could not divulge lol Im looking forward to it myself too & it should be interesting to see the differences. I dont know if you recall but about a year or 2 ago i put a post on here about one of the presenters of said show seeing my rado when i was at my sisters & i took him for a spin as he had never been in a VR6 flavour rado :D fingers crossed the feature is presented in a similar way to his mindset as he couldnt get enough of it!!
  15. Now that is a great idea!!!! lol A little birdie told me that a popular UK motoring TV show has done some testing on their rado so fingers crossed it gets aired & gives the rado's good exposure & push prices up that way too ;)
  16. great point made! i use the mechanic which my family has used for 20 years if i cant do the job myself - my parents brought the 2ltr 16v rado he had many moons ago james28 - volks wizard is up by the maypole island near birmingham. my gf brought the storm he had up for sale a few weeks ago & it is in superb condition. he was a very nice bloke, has done some great resto work on rado's (lots of details on his site) & has owned many himself. in fact the white vr6 he had when i visited him he said he plans never to sell i have no personal experience of his quality of work or costs but i will definitely consider sending my vr6 to him if need be :)
  17. IIRC there are some threads on here which go into detail regarding the difference between 263 & 268's - i think it had example power gains etc too again, IIRC, the general verdict was that the 263 was a better option Try here http://the-corrado.net/showthread.php?42729-vr6-cams
  18. sanky - would it help if i took a picture of where my loom joins the connector behind the head unit? it might help you ID if any of your wiring has been messed with
  19. Ooooo its a 1 dayer & its gona be 20 degress on sunday.....might have to take a look at this!
  20. I have not seen or experienced this issue in my current '95 rado or my old '90 rado & my gf has recently purchased a '95 storm & she did not have this problem either also, when i changed my ignition barrel there was no need to touch any wiring at all - IIRC the old barrel clicked out once drilled in the correct place (to get to the release mechanism) & the new barrel just plugged in. I did have a similar issue in a vauxhall nova i had a long time ago & i think i solved that be getting a standard stereo connector block from halfords & wired it in accordingly......however i remember there were wires for both switched & permanent live already there to connect to as i got them the wrong way round 1st time
  21. its been a very long time but i dont recall having to wire a switchable live into my 1990 16v rado i can have a look in the bentley bible this evening if i can find time & that would be any help to you :)
  22. My apologies sanky - i got the wrong end of the stick
