  1. Not normally a fan of red cars but it really suits a Corrado, looking good mate and I can't believe how well that engine bay has come up. Looking forward to following this one. Rog.
  2. Dropping the oil sounds like a good idea, have a good look in the filter and see if there is any metal in there. If you look at my car thread there are some pics of what I found when my bottom end went, I know your problem may be different but it might give you a clue. Also maybe consider pulling the rocker cover off and removing a few of the cam caps, I'd check the ones near the chain, if the chain tensioner has been incorrectly the chain can be over tensioned and the cam bearings can suffer (don't ask how I know this...) this can lead to a fair bit of top end noise. And.. How are your oil temps, high temps can indicate bearing damage (again don't ask how I know this...) Jim, as others have said I really feel for you mate, I hope you can sort this out, be a shame to have the VR off the road and having met you a few time I can honestly say you don't deserve this bad luck. Rog.
  3. Another thumbs up for the Yoko Prada spec 2's here, quite cheap as well, think I paid £50 a tyre from Demon Tweaks. Although back in my CRX days I always ran T1R's, never had a problem with them, awesome grip in the dry. Rog.
  4. Nice one, my tank has a slight weep so just ordered a new one from Euro car parts. £10.84 delivered. Part number is.. EIS Expansion TankEIS Expansion Tank Volkswagen Golf 2.0 2003 Part No.: 205440420Qty: 1 | Amount: £10.84 Rog.
  5. Tbh it doesn't sound that bad to me, I think most VR's are a little tippy these days. If it really bothers you maybe pick up a spare engine and rebuild it slow time. Or just get a block and rebuild that as you know your current top end is A1. Btw, I think you should go back to stock cams... Put me first on the list for the 263's please... ;) Rog.
  6. I think I need to explain what has happened.... Basically, yesterday Sandy broke my mug in directly retaliation to me shoving the dirtiest mop you have even seen in his face earlier in the day..... This was the final act in a session of 'high jinks' and 'general bafoolery'... Something that I might add is a common occurrence down the depot...lol Anyway, I'm generally heart warmed that Sandy has gone out of his way to track down a new Corrado mug and I now feel slightly 'guilty' that I took great pleasure in removing the handle from his 'the kids gave me this' mug earlier this morning.... Rog.
  7. Devon dub shack does pressed steel plates, all legal as well. Rog.
  8. Nice one mate, give us a shout if you need a hand. Rog.
  9. Yes mate, just seen the pic and thought I'd like a set of those. Just sent you a PM. Cheers Chris. Rog.
  10. Anyone got a copy of the May 99 issue of the Sprinter kicking about?? If so would it be possible to get a scan/copy of the mud flap article please. Many thanks Rog.
  11. Storm envy.... very very nice... love those mud flaps, where are they from?? Rog.
  12. Looks ok to me, if it was a tooth or two out you would really notice it. Just make sure the intermediate shaft (oil pump drive) is in the correct orientation, it's possible to get that 180 out. Rog.
  13. I never had a guide with mine, it's possible to fit without a guide, just use lube and make sure the spring doesn't come off. Rog.
  14. As above, fit it with the cover off as you will need to drive it into position. its quite a tight fit, I heated up my cover in the oven and cooled the seal in the freezer to help with fitting but it was still tight and needed some hammer action. One thing I did notice, when I refitted the cover (with new crank seal) it was tight so I pre-lubed the crank shaft, it is a little fiddly and the first time I fitted it the spring on the seal came off, luckily my engine was on an engine stand and I noticed it when I went to refit the sump but it was still a pain removing the whole cover again and refitting it... it's worth getting a torch and checking the seal is sested correctly before you do the cover bolts up. Rog.
  15. I think this has gone to the car park in the sky... however Dan has loads of Corrado bits in stock... give him a ring on 07800 848406, tell him Rog sent you... ;) Rog.
  16. Anyone know where I can get one of these? Rog.
  17. Welcome, nice to see another C in the south west. Rog.

    Abs

Personally I'd try a fluid change, it should be changed every few years anyway but is often missed, the fluid can absorb water and this can lead to the abs valves sticking. It's quite easy and cheap to do and is worth a try. Rog.
  19. Yes, I've got 195's on my storm and they are fine Rog.

  21. Know what you mean Kev, I've been down that route before with CRX's, personally I was always happy with a low blow setup but I know most of the folk I helped build installs for always wanted more...lol However, more costs more, its just not a case of upping the boost, engine internals need upgrading, clutch, drive shafts etc etc, hence why I'm aiming for a nice low blow setup, I should be able to keep the engine and running gear stock, I'm hoping 6psi should net me a 50 bhp increase with a nice healthy dollop of torque, also I should be able to use a smaller turbo (thinking something like a T28 ) and it should spool up nice and early... anyway its just an idea atm, I'd welcome any feedback though. Rog.
  22. Same here, what would it cost just to remap for a 5-6 psi install? Rog.
