  1. Porsche is definitely on the radar in the future though I think a Boxster might be about as far as my budget goes!
  2. Hiya.. I'm away from home with work until the end of the week but will catch back up on this thread and PM you details when I am back? Cheers.
  3. I guess the hardest thing is the risk to income, prospects, etc. I can't deny it's crossed my mind many times especially when you read about skills shortages for good plumbers, electricians etc - the thought of retraining and starting over is always appealing. Would love to know what you come to decide to do / whether you take the plunge. A friend of a friend was out of work for a while. Was an architect, but really skilled at lots of other stuff but hated the traditional office job. Was spending a lot of time drinking coffee in the local Costa whilst contemplating his future, became friends with the staff and ended up taking a job working there.. and is loving it. May not pay well but he gets tremendous job satisfaction. Something that's hard to find in an office job!
  4. I ended up using this: http://www.halfords.com/workshop-tools/tools/hand-tools/draper-55540-expert-22mm-3-8-inch-square-drive-oxygen-sensor-socket Though a swan neck spanner would have been far easier for sure :) It is worth mentioning that even with that nut well tightened, the top plate will still stand a little proud of the strut housing.
  5. Something isn't right as the top nut should screw down onto the coilover much further. With mine all done up there's about 1.5cm of thread visible above the nut. Did you buy the right tool so that you could stop the shaft of the coilover spinning and tighten the nut up? (you'll see there is an allen head hole in the top of the strut)
  6. Yeah it'll be US as he's mentioning the motor for the power seatbelts that they have over there.
  7. Your car was certainly one of the ones I remember even from back in my first days in the CCGB back in 2001, Ron.
  8. Exactly how I feel about the Campaign mate. The interior is garish and would probably give you a headache BUT I personally like it, and I like that it's pretty much the unicorn in terms of rarity for Corrado owners. Most people outside of the UK don't even know about it.
  9. £1,500 seems a ridiculous bargain especially considering the extremely rare 16" Speedlines that are fitted. Really regret selling those. If you'd consider swapping them for normal 15" Speedlines and cash your way, let me know!
  10. That car used to belong to a guy who posted on here called Majik I think. They're definitely the real deal / originals. Love to know where the rest of the bits went though.
  11. It's an excruciating price but I think I'd pay it as I know it's good and durable.. could spend £20 on other products which may not be up to the job and by then you're nearly already half way there. Just could do with some ramps to work on the car - don't fancy rolling around on a cold concrete floor, in the dark tackling this particular job. Hmm.
  12. Just rang up the local parts dept.. the old part number is obsolete ("That doesn't look like a VW part number") (sigh) but the replacement part number is available, and is an eye watering £54! Would be tempted to see if it was available from TPS though as it might come down to a slightly more reasonable price.

    Roof gutter trim

Not sure you should be using a fine single malt for doing it :)
  14. I know the green ring is pretty bright but it honestly never bothered me too much.
  15. Matt you're a star! Thanks for coming back and taking this on again. I'll take one certainly, and might see about the Corrado Club acquiring a small stock of them to sell at shows - will let you know on that. Cheers.
  16. I'm interested to know how you get on as I've got some areas on the underside of mine where the underseal has ripped and is hanging off and I want to treat the rust and get it patched back up again. However I know about the VW stuff as I was helping apply it at a friends house on his Corrado when he had stripped off the rear beam and fuel tank, as he was doing some more in depth body protection. It's a very flat grey colour out of the bottle and is actually a little runny but if you decant it into a jar and let it go off / cure a bit in the air it starts to thicken up and becomes much easier to not only apply but layer up in such a way as to match the OE finish. I believe it's also kind of pricey. I'm really not sure on the availability of it though. I'll have to check ETKA and see if I can find the part number for confirmation but I think it's "D 003 500" - can ring up my local stealers and enquire about availbility tomorrow?
  17. You can actually paint on the VW stuff no problems - doesn't need to be done with an airgun!
  18. It's OK - the seller gets a free bump :) We can split the posts off at a later point for housekeeping / tidyness purposes. And I didn't consider your post overly dramatic or anything else.. we're just discussing it. Re-reading the "rules" it says: Cars for Sale & Parts for Sale are open forums, and we encourage open communication. It is the seller's responsibility to update the thread with full details, including informing when the item is sold. To me the pertinent point is the use of the word encourage. We encourage it, but we don't demand it. And in terms of updating items as they sell, not everyone is glued to the computer like a geek (like me!) so sometimes it takes time for the thread to be updated accordingly. I dunno.. at this point I don't think we need to do anything. It's not like these kinds of disagreements or talking points occur regularly, and I'm happy to just deal with them on a case by case basis.
  19. I take your point - but, and I'm not trying to cop out here, I just 'work' here. I don't set the forum rules or guidelines. I can feed it back to the admin and see if he can change it though.
  20. I've always said all along it's a pointless rule as it's unenforcable and clearly people have done it forever, myself included. I'm not even going to attempt to try and enforce that rule to be honest.
  21. I still can't understand how this hasn't been snapped up. Great, reliable, economical route into Corrado ownership.
  22. Maybe he had a PM from someone between the time of posting, and your post asking about it?
