nowt wrong with that at all mate, agree with supercharged, there's plenty of old skool mechanic's use their ear's and a stethoscope to anticipate and diagnose problems :)
-
nice work man, looks brilliant.
-
looking good, read a few threads on here about guys getting nicked for running those plates tho - not too sure of the issue tho
was thinking about your power there recently, is your's just the gti head or the whole gti engineered engine? if the latter there is defo something up.
-
as jim says there must be a stamp/ number etched on head somewhere, or maybe even some history
tbh it should be pretty clear its been worked on when you get it off
-
nice - you're gonna be busy :D
-
nice :D
-
if you REALLY want to get an induction kit on a kr then you'll need to go standalone engine management and all that it entails
-
i may be well off the mark here, but i read somewhere you could approximate bhp/ torque through a gps recorder and running some maths, both from a standing start and in gear rolling
now, feel free to shoot me down :D
-
that seems low, but suppose a lot depends on the rollers calibration, from what i've read you could expect 10 - 20 bhp more from a 2litre kjet, am hoping anyway as that's what i'm doing!
maybe could do with a tune up
you got a bargain there tho
-
you'll need an exhaust gas analyser
is there actually a problem?!
if ur not sure what your doing i'd take it to a garage for 5 mins rather than fiddling with it urself :salute:
-
nice look on borbets :salute:
how'd you find the engine, ever had rr'd?
-
if you're planning on messing with the idle screw then you'll need to do it whilst monitoring the fuel mixture also.
-
did a bit of work on gasket matching the lower manifold, then carried on disassembling and cleaning the pistons, con rods and stuff - now have an entire 9a engine in cleaned bits in a box :D
-
yeh gotta be a hilux, i used to use one loads and it never missed a beat despite all the abuse it got
or you could go old skool and get urself a mk2 caddy :D
-
omg - i really hope this is a true story
-
really rate magnex exhausts, both subtle looking and sounding
-
hey welcome
jim has summed it up really well, only thing i can add is that i've had two 16v's and a vr, and am in similar position to you in that i'm looking a bit of weekend fun - i'm looking mainly at the 16v even though the power is way down on what i used to have, but that's not putting me off at all
you may be surprised at what's available, i've seen at least 2 1.8 16v in the last 3 months with the 2ltr conversions - think 150 to 160bhp.
-
agree completely, vw have seriously lost there way with styling in recent years, i havn't been inspired by any
i think that pug whilst no doubt appealling to the masses, borrows too much from the proven TT formulae, and on that basis is a sound styling direction and therefore not very brave
also - isn't this technically a roadster
-
yeh full marks for being brave enough to squash a 307 and stick an ass top on it
-
same as other comments, looking good - you've definitely found ur rebuild mojo
-
What is a exhaust cut out anyway? :Dyeh +1 am interested in what you are doing
-
i thought there was a cheaper one than that on ebay, seems a bit pricey to me, but then you do get the factory look back
i'd baulk at that sort of money for what you get, and would spend a bit of time and a tenner on some vht paint from halfords again
-
great to have the money to do that, almost as good to get paid to build that stuff too
if you added a couple of cannons to that mental quad thing you'd have yourself a batmobile
-
some boy - he's a very good runner too :notworthy:
Just got hitched!! (the cars were awesome!)
