hard to keep the faith when stuff goes wrong :(
have you changed the ecu relay? that's what caused my old vr6 to cut out mid drive, but then start and run fine 20 seconds later.
-
hey never looked at this thread before
have pretty much all the ajnuabeats albums, in danger of being a bit samey tho, AvB's podcasts are a pretty sound bet usually too
was also listening to nine inch nails last night, brilliant, just made me want to go and do this :brickwall:
-
i don't watch supranos show but yeh logo/ name ref appears right, still a wierd t shirt tho :)
-
brilliant work here :salute: great to see rados getting this much attention
props to ur mate with the mk1 too, ace looking
-
i think they're T shirts for homos... corrado is italian version of conrad :camp:
don't get the pistol reference tho
-
am in for the group buy too purely for weight loss, but pics of anyones on the car would be great
-
yeh see the resemblance if the front is covered over, in entirety it looks :pukeright: though
-
started cleaning up and smoothing the cylinder head chambers, a s l o w process
-
that's looking really good man, nice colour and lights, and the seats look awesome - not OTT like some leathers
forget who said it, but a 1.8t/ 20vt is the heads choice, a 16vt is the hearts :D
-
seriously you shouldn't need to ask, but that windscreen sticker gets them pretty even :D
-
kr and 9a exhaust cams are the same so no difference i'm afraid, maybe try the kr inlet if you havn't already
-
yep - everything completely standard, just chopped and flipped over, i will be trying it with an adjustable cam gear but that's a few months away yet :(
-
it's honestly really easy to do, the hardest bit is spending an hour and a half chopping through the cam - THEY'RE REALLY HARD :D
between that post on club gti and some photos which i may find my way to PMing to you from the vortex thread i posted it's a doddle
-
my votes with the black speedlines all the way, really good on nuggets
-
But it's not as simple as just cutting off one end, the keyway needs machining in another place on the chain sprocket end in order for you to get it all timed up again properly. (when using the KR exhaust as the inlet for the 9a).i've got into arguments about this before, so i will only state the only reason you need to cut a need a new keyway is if you want to retain the factory timing marks :D as done on my last two valvers I simply rotated the cam and marked a new timing mark - easy peasy, and all as a now picture less vortex thread http://forums.vwvortex.com/zerothread?id=691425
if you want to do a better job and play with the power band then you can always get an adjustable cam gear, vortex thread recommends 4.5degs advance
-
It's actually miles off what I intendedthink even the guys with the most sorted cars on here think that, corrados are like wifes imo, there's always something extra needed :D
good progress btw :salute:
-
ok great, yeh i intend to use megasquirt for the timing mainly, just don't know anyone on here apart from yourself who is running/ building higher compression
-
I went for 0.5 oversized slightly up on compression with a rebore as the bores were lipped and scored a bit .hi mate, nice looking bay and motor :D
what compression were the JE pistons you went for?
I'm planning on rebuilding with a set of wossner 12.3, and interested to know how you got/ if you did anything with your engine management....
-
have forked out about £1,200 on engine, new pistons and stuff and i don't even have a car :D
on previous motors probably about £5k which is pretty tame accross 3 cars
-
maybe makes sense in that ur in a much warmer climate
-
It's behind the air box, off the top of my head one big hose, one little hose and an electrical connector, dark gray and the main part is a stubby cylinder.:D
-
just the B&W piccy makes it look metalic they are plastic, had similar jobs on both my kr's, assume they're used on 9a also
kinda gone off topic here :D
-
it's nr 14 in the picture, very little goes wrong in these units tho, it's only an electrcally heated bimetallic strip
-
daves right with what he calls it
i've never fully figured out their relationship either beyond the obvious
interesting stuff this kjet :D
How to fit a Pipercross airbox in a valver
in Engine Bay
Posted
never fitted one, but i suspect you have to ditch them both, the larger pipe is a warm air hose from the ehxaust manifold, the other is a vacuum line that opens a flap to let the warm air into the airbox
i'd be very interested to know wether you think this makes any difference performance wise
also, in that your ditching the warm air feed you'll obviously see a reduction in mpg, though to some degree you'll be pulling hot air from the engine bay instead
