Does look good. Might do my poor one when it's off and change it back again.

Scraper seals are available from Heritage around £50 each Matt. Oh and for anyone reading in future, wing mirror seals are available from arz tuning, about £8 each iirc.
-
Cool beans! I'll be doing this soon!

£25 posted for the centre console?
-
Ahh thanks Goldie, makes sense. :thumbleft:
-
No idea tbh mate, but I assumed so.
-
Really? Mines a 95 with the square knob............
-
I have both sides so no worries. Is it passenger door side, or handbrake tunnel side you need? Teeth are not visible when fitted, and it secures perfectly well so not a problem what so ever mate. :thumbleft:

Alright mate, I have the lower trim piece but can't find the handle I'm afraid. What I have is in pretty good order, although the centre tab has one tooth missing (it's on the back, you'll know what I mean if you have your old one off). Yours for £4 posted if you want it though. :thumbleft:

May have the tilt handle and seat trim piece in the shed, I'll have a look after work tomorrow and let you know mate.

anyone got picture of both sides of timin chain cover?
seanl82 replied to Mawrick's topic in Engine Bay
Sorry I thought I said previously. Top cover can remain in place. As mentioned if you follow the wiki for timing chain replacement, everything you need to do is also contained within that, just dismiss the bits that you don't need to do. :thumbleft: -
Ah thanks Graham, how it fits was gonna be my next question! I don't know tbh. I'm worried a little now too, as it had obviously snapped in the past as it was bonded together with a bit of choc block with some resin surrounding it. I'd not noticed it before tbh, so I'm not entirely sure if it was kind of bodged in. When it snapped, the bung dropped down though which is why I assumed it was correct....
-
Cheers dude. The one I just bought has the purple ball and spring. Its identical to the one that snapped, and listed correct for VIN on Vagcat.............
-
Just bought a new old stock accelerator cable after mine snapped on Bruntingthorpe Runway , and I've had a search on here and had a look on VAGCAT, but I don't think the bung is sold separately. Its the one that I think attaches the cable to the hoop on the pedal. Can't find it on heritage either, so was just wondering if anyone knew if it was available, and hopefully has a part number? Thanks!

There was no gasket to seal the cover, just the sealant. I'm not sure if you'll need to drain the coolant, but I don't think so. Your list looks pretty good, although if you didn't change the clutch release bearing first time round, its worth doing for what it costs. None of the parts on your list are very expensive, so well worth doing as much as you can afford whilst its all apart. -

Worth checking the three sump bolts accessed with the gearbox lower bellhousing cover removed. Mine was leaking exactly the same as yours, and mine was a combination of crossthreaded bolts, and the chain cover crank seal. I had to re-tap the lower cover threads and fit oversized bolts, and replace the seal. Nice and clean driveway now though! -

Yeah there were on mine. The covers shouldn't distort, and they should be sealed with the correct Vw sealant anyway so you should get no leaks from there. -

It's gearbox off, and the covers are in two parts with the lower attached to the upper from below by two hex bolts. If you have a look in the wiki, there's a guide for timing chain replacement and the easiest way to remove/replace the seal. Hope this helps mate. -
No. He got shot down pretty quickly earlier today for advertising it for that price on here. You can buy a brand new 'in date' one for about £30 from the dealership.

I did laugh at the time, but thinking back that could have been pretty catastrophic if he had twitched! That was probably at about 125, so well done to Neil for not reacting when hitting it and just carrying on. Looking forward to seeing those pics too! -
Oooh, now on ebay. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Mint-Genuine-VW-Corrado-First-Aid-Kit-VR6-G60-16V-Volkswagen-/121349800069?pt=UK_CarsParts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM&hash=item1c41030085 So glad, I was thinking about buying this.....................:silent:

Thanks mate, not an option for me unfortunately. The leather is pretty trashed and fraying around the button. New one needed tbh, although I'm pretty sure they're obsolete. I've not looked into it properly tbf, just been keeping an eye out on ebay etc.
-
How did you refurb it Rob? Mine is really annoying me, and I've been on the lookout for a new one for a few weeks now.

I feel partly responsible for egging you on Chris. On the other hand I'm glad she got a good run!
