    Cheap Recaros

Bugger, I was waiting on the missus getting back from work before asking 'cough, permission' to buy it.
  2. Mine was like that too when I pulled it out, although there was no apparent problems. Mine was also the original I think, and it had done 144k.
  3. Cracking vid that Rob, tell her she has much respect from the forum for a job well done! :thumbleft:
  4. Around the 22mm sized spanner to take them off by a bolt underneath the spring bit. The nut is sort of semi captive. It won't spin (or shouldn't) but there is side to side movement to position them correctly. Piece of pish!
  5. Ah bugger. I'll see if I can source some sort of sheet rubber gasket of the same depth, and try to cut it to size then. Seems to be the only option unfortunately.
  6. And I started the hose envy. :smug:
  7. Matt, where the frig did you get wing mirror and door seals from? I need these too for my impending respray, but thought they were like rocking horse ****!
  8. Saw that this morning. Looks and sounds a very good example (apart from the wheels), but that price is a bit strong........
  9. Not sure if it should be labelled strange, more dangerous I think, but my wife has it in her head that when coming to a hill where blind the other side, she will speed up toward the crest "as if I get there quicker, I'm more likely to see if there is something the other side"................
  10. Andy, I'll only be able to make the Saturday. Work Friday and have to work Sunday now which is a pain in the arris. I'll be at my folks in Bristol from Friday evening though so if you need anything doing with regard to the stand etc, I'm happy to accommodate or come over early to help set up for the day.
  11. I managed to get the one for the pas fluid reservoir back on with a set of wire strippers! Not a permanent solution if you have a lot of them to do, but worked for me!
  12. Thought it was 4.7mm but didn't want to say unless I was wrong. That was the smaller of the two I saw, the other was much larger. Well, problem seems to have resolved itself. I can only deduce it was a fueling problem and a guess would be a bit of crud had gathered near the tip of the injector, where they were ultrasonically cleaned or something. Clutch bled up, and moved back and forth under its own power today. Away to Plymouth for the w.end so won't be back on it til next week. Hopefully be finished and ready for its first run out by the end of next w.end though, Can't wait!
  13. Missed that. So that price plus shipping.
  14. Does look in good knick, and can't imagine shipping to be too cheap from Poland, but jeez.........

    Heater Problem

Does it warm up whilst sat idling, then go cold again when cruising? How is your coolant temp on the display? Could be a duff thermostat......
  16. Just re-read that and think you're right Matt. Best bet would be to Jack it a little as you say mate. Just taking up a little bit of the bushes tension will give you enough like I said earlier. :thumbleft:
  17. It would be obvious if the bracket welds failed. It would stop clicking after only a couple of clicks, but you'd be able to pull it up quite far further. It would feel obvious too mate.
  18. I just stood on one end at a time with my toes, and managed to get a couple of turns on with my fingers. Once both sides are done like that you'll have no bother mate.

    Fuse box clips

Care to elaborate/link in said item David!?
  20. Fired up for the first time tonight, unfortunately the missus turned up stressed out with the kids just at that point, so had to leave it. All is not well though. Vagcom scanned before first start with fuel pump relay pulled. All seemed well. Turned over a few times to build oil pressure and everything seemed good. Started up after that but sounds like it's running on about three cylinders Also have an unknown water leak but that's probably just a hose clip not secured properly somewhere. I scanned again whilst running, and it came up with wiring fault, but I didn't write down the code. I'll change coil and leads tomorrow for the originals to rule them out, and go from there. :(
