Great results! Thats a good list that stealth have done, bet your itching to keep going out in it now!

I had it when replacing the cable but it was stuck to the tubing that goes internally to the tunnel. I ended up cutting it as near to the hole as I could, then had to drill it out. Its an absolute bugger to do, but it worked! As long as you don't damage that bracket too much, it'll hold fine as the shroud will stop at the hole, and be held in by the retaining clip.

IT PASSED THE MOT!!!!!! :dance::dance::dance::dance: Updates to follow..........

So synthetic is better than mineral then................................ Thanks Tim, very informative!

Theres a guide to adjusting the cables in the wiki section mate. Have a gander in there. :thumbleft:

Been trying to find things to do that don't cost any money as I'm loath to spending money on it until its back on the road. MOT is booked again for Monday at 11, so fingers crossed it goes through this time with my ABS light fix.................. Anyway, had some Redline MT90 gear oil that I was gonna put into the Valver last year just before it was written off, so decided to do that today. No discernible difference, gear stick is pretty vague anyway so new linkage bushes will hopefully sort that, as well as one of Dave16's short shifter in the not too distant future. I've got some rattle cans from Paints4u to tidy up the areas of lacquer peel too, so hopefully start that next week. Its a temporary measure until I can afford a full respray, just to make it look a little more respectable and less haggard! Other than that, I've just been washing the dust off of it twice a week where its been sitting unused.:( Can't put any of the photos up as I've reached my photobucket download limit for the month!

When the Valver was written off, I got £1360 ish from the insurance as it was written off (should have bartered I know, but I only paid £500 for it!), and bought it back off the insurance company for £34.20! I then sold it on for scrap to DevonDubShack for £175. Could have got a hell of a lot more if I broke it myself as there was quite alot of good and expensive parts that the previous owner didn't realise, but I didn't have the means to do it at the time.

If you do servicing yourself though, it'll work out no more expensive over time than any other car you pay a garage to service for you. Obviously fuel prices and tax (dependant on year) are the expensive things though. I've always been an evo man myself too. Much prefer them to the common chav scoobys!

Looks absolutely amazing, but wouldn't expect anything less from KDS. For those that don't know, this is probably THE best known and respected detailing specialist in the UK. Looks phenomenal Mark! :thumbleft:

Go to a breakers yard and rape a beamer of its battery cables.

Its not all that bad tbh. It seats quite easily too. Valvers on the other hand are a PITA! All done from underneath removing the auxiliary belt, PAS pump, draining the whole water system and hoping you've got a good seal when its all back together! Inevitably, you never get a proper seal first time as the o-ring drops! :censored:

What did I do wrong? I got socks! Happy fathers day!!!!

Is the fuel pump a "known" problem on the VR6 (hot start problem)
seanl82 replied to Mawrick's topic in Engine Bay
Fuel pumps are known across the model to fail as they are all getting on a bit now. You usually get a bit of prior warning though as they start to become quite noisy when hey are on their way out. Its not uncommon though that it goes unoticed. There are two of them too. One in tank, and an inline lift pump. -
Been a few around the £900- £1000 mark from what I've seen, although I'm not sure any of them actually sold. Depends how badly you want it gone, and how much your prepared to let it go for tbh, but I suppose the equivilent of $1200 wouldnt be too far off mate.

I think thats the one that was for sale in Carlisle. I priced up flights and everything but as it was a Cat C I decided against it. Wish I would have taken the gamble now!

Some new tank straps and a couple of fluid reservoirs, and it'll be perfect!

Massive thanks to Kip who sent me another ABS Controller to try, unfortunately there is no change. Think I'll look for a new loom, but for the time being I've fudged something together in the workshop that will get it through the MOT. Ask no questions, you'll hear no lies......................:ignore:

It'll be alright, just leave it out in the sun to dry off..........................................:ignore:

I had this when I changed my rocker gasket, and **** myself! Turned out it was just a couple of drops of oil on the manifold, and it caused tons of smoke! I had to put the car on axle stands and look from underneath to locate exactly where it was coming from though as I couldn't tell from above.

Car washes make me :pukeright: Car does look great though! :thumbleft:

I went to collect the new daily yesterday, and did about 6 miles on the M3. It was pretty quiet, but on three occasions I had to pull out from the first lane into the third, then go back across to the first lane again due to middle lane hoggers. What did I notice............... all three were Women drivers! Now I'm not suggesting ALL woman are poor drivers, and its quite a brash generalisation if I were to suggest that, and I'd come across as a chauvinist pig. But IN MY EXPERIENCE, most of these problems are caused by Women, and people over the age of 65. Just my 2 pence worth.................

Thanks Paul, let me know how much I owe you for postage mate. Mat, I've got VCDS lite on an ebay cable, and its coming up as no signal from ECU when testing ABS specifically. I'm not entirely convinced though, as it throws no error codes on any scan even with engine off. From what I'm led to believe with ignition on but engine off, it should come up with a crank sensor fault or somesuch?

£12 for 100ml, and still cheaper than VW...............:shocked!:

Exactly, shoulder pads n all! lol I did notice on the way back though that half way down on the clutch pedal travel is a slight rumbling. I didn't notice it on the test drive, and I drove it for a good few miles. Seems its an early sign of DMF wear..................oh dear! Not having much luck with cars lately, although tbf, I reckon its got a good few miles in it yet. Indie prices for replacement of clutch and DMF are around the 1k mark, which would bring it into line price wise with whats on the market in comparable condition and mileage, and at least I know its done and probably never need doing again. I've got the means to do it myself though, so I could do it for half that with a day or two of my free labour! Theres no juddering at low revs or anything like that and its barely noticeable. There's no clutch slip at all either, but I'd replace that anyway whilst doing it as its the original I think. Either way its not presenting itself as urgent so I'll put that off for a little while yet!
