  1. i had the arches done at local body shop and they did them using a dolly and hammer. The paint did crack so was redone at the time.
  2. thanks for the tip, i have the cams fitted already, i was waiting on a cam trigger wheel to come in today before i run the engine. The new style trigger wheels are a much better design being part metal where they are secured by the bolt.
  3. panning shots look really good, i like the car it looks purposeful :)
  4. Normal suspension will give you more clearance towards the strut side but i dont think they would look good at standard ride height. Especially as they are quite wide.
  5. Front arches are rolled flat and the rears are trimmed and sealed. 8.5j et5 ch's need spacing about 4mm to clear the rear strut. I had no rubbing with 215/35/17 tyres hth
  6. wheels do get changed a bit. i have some forged merc 16's that were meant to go on but the rs's look too good to take off. It will happen though as the rs's need to come off to go silver just ive been preoccupied this week fitting my new flowed head and 263 cams. Its all back together now, jus waiting for a cam triger wheel to come in on tuesday before i can give it a run.I'll post some pictures of the work when i get a chance
  7. wow 5 years! mine faded in a summer but i cant remeber ow many coats i had on them
  8. i thought i had thought of everything but just came across this issue. If vw don't have stock then I have 2 more sets of cams i can try to take the sprockets from and hope the sensor comes of intact if not then i can put the engine back together bar the cams and order the part and put the rest of the engine back together during the week.
  9. okay so no need to use the lube then, it is a new head so i'll get the oil pumping round before i start it. I just took the sprockets off a spare set of cams i had and the trigger wheel cracked on the rear cam. Seraching shows its a cheap part but is it dealer only or can i get it from gsf? Im running on a tight schedule and can't get hold of the guys at the local dealer parts desk.
  10. There was 2 tubes of camshaft assembly lube enlcosed with my 263 cams, whats it used for? Do i just apply a smear on each lobe? Do i have to follow a running in procedure for the cams?
  11. you cant get v3's for less than 1k nowadays because of the exchange rate
  12. The only thing with MO's is they weight a ton!

ive just done some readin on the net, weems like i can swap the valves over as log as i lap them in so they seat properly. Now i need to know about the guides, would they have been damaged when the valves were bent?

    VR6 Bent Valves

matt should only be a few weeks if i can squeeze some time in the evenings, i'll let you know how i go. Anyone help with my original question, can i take the valves out of a good head and fit them in to the refurbed head with the bent valves? Is there anything i need to consider?

    VR6 Bent Valves

To be honest im not fussed about the power, I just want a refurbed head. I want to work out whats more cost efective, buying the head and selling the parts i have left or using the parts i have to make one good head.

    VR6 Bent Valves

Last year i had a head refurbed with new valve guides and seals, lapped the valves in,skimmed the head by 8 thou and fitted new ina tappets. After it was fitted the intermediate pulley came loose resulting in 5 of the valves being bent after coming in contact with the pistons. After this i decided to fit a replacement engine complete as i came across one with low mileage, now i want to refurb the head whats the best way to go about it. Should i start fresh with the head on the replacement engine or can i take the valves out of the head on the replacement engine and fit them in to the head i refurbed last year?
  19. Thanks for the comments positive and negative :D Jon i hear where your coming from, when i see a car at a show or online with rs's i too look past it and think it's just another car running rs's  But imo in real life and day to day driving the car looks superb, wheels are classy yet understated which suits me fine as i dont always like my cars to look modified. I did mention a set of merc wheels, they would have gone on but i didnt have enough time to drill out the bolt holes in the wheels to accept m14 bolts. If all goes to plan they will be on at the weekend. 8)
  20. Plenty of space at 54mm of clearance from mounting face to the inner spokes. Big brakes would look amazing behind them :D
  21. heres the last shots on the CH's thanks to Leon
  22. Thanks for the comments, and i hear what your saying about the colour combo. The plan was always to go silver with the wheels for a nice fresh look and that will still be happening in the next month or so. I wasnt sure about the gold at first but have grown to like it although they draw a bit too much attention for my liking. The rs's were only fitted as i needed to take my ch's off to sell and i havent got round to drilling out the bolt holes on my other merc wheels to take m14 bolts. Once thats done the rs's will be coming of for a month or two.
  23. ch's were collected today and ive got the rs's back on for a few days
  24. i think you need to give some more details on width, offset and if they have radinox dishes
