when i wrote my first rado of the spoiler was up, and I told the copper i was going 30..... the copper was vdub fan and gave me a very knowing look  It doesn't mean you were going over 30, it just means you had been travelling over 55 at some point and hadn't gone below 14 again ;)

On a more basic level you need to look for Smoke from the exhaust. Anything more than a slight puff of light coloured smoke on a cold start up does not bode well Regular oil changes, it doesn't really matter who by, but a fully stamped up service history is a good sign that the engine has had regular oil replacements and is more likely to be healthy. Obviously, it also depends on how the car has been driven. Lots of short journeys and/or thrashings from cold are going to seriously reduce the life of the engine. If you're looking for chain rattle (sign of the tensioners going) then it sounds like marbles in a tin can and comes from the top right of the engine, looking from the front of the car. Hope this helps and good luck with finding a nice C!

Hang on. I've spotted a flaw in my cunning plan there. If I'm OUTSIDE the car.......... :cuckoo:   You need a crotch-level tazer that you can control from your phone :D

MAF is the air flow sensor MFA is the trip computer And apparently you can get MAF's for about £150 from Bosch

It's all very nice ugly! Then you go and take the car bra off again and have a patch of paint that doesn't match the rest of the car

Hearing that clip makes me want my VR back from the bodyshop :(

1 - Go for the Synta Silver that VAG supply 2 - Yes. Have a look at the servicing guide for more details 3 - You need the kit that includes the arm and blade, see the how-to for more details

Yup, the standard plugs are fine. The only advantage to the platnium plugs is that they last longer (good if you've got a Shrick!)

The dash changed in 93 I think (might have been 91) so you already have the latest dash :) And early one looks pretty much the same, but with more squared of stalks and slider heater controls

heh heh cool!

Oh and don't even consider trying to fit them yourself, I've replaced go-kart tyres before and that's a right c*$! of a job, let along a full size car tyre with nice steel bands in it!

 what?? Nothing wrong with 'previously enjoyed' swimming trunks  And as it happens I was actually eating at the time

Heh heh bit scary about the belt being out, but good to hear it's all leak-free now :D

Err it is the same car :) notice the rear window stickers and the reflection of the yellow car in the bodywork :)

its going to need some lite restoration....it is afterall 18 years old now..........but i plan on getting it up to a "classic-car" show standard........but as its not my daily driver i have plenty of time....at the moment the tax runs out in sept....so dunno if its wise SORN it while i get some things attended to or get the front wing done ASAP and run it thru winter etc or just run it and save the pennies til i can afford to get it painted If you don't need to run it and you have a nice dry garage to keep in, declare it SORN then you can do work on it as/when it's needed and there's not too much pressure on your wallet :) It's also a wee bit cheaper/quicker to get work done during the winter because it seems to be off season. It also means that you'll have all winter to get it in tip-top condition for next summer 8)

Looks very nice! :D Buy it...you know you want to... it's not going to cost you tooo much in repairs either if it's already had that much work done on it :)

I think thats whats known as a 'service'  well yeah but I was just going through the big box of bits I've got sitting here :) I'm gonna do it myself and it's probably all gonna get done at different times cos I won't be able to do it all in one go. You never know, strander things have happened/

Get C back from the bodyshop then in no particular order Fit new rear shocks, springs, axle bushes, disks, pads and misc bolts Change oil & filter Change coolant Change brake fluid Change fuel filter Change air filter Change spark plugs Change serpentine belt & fix tensioner pulley Change tyres Replace misc temp sensors Fit modded rear Lupo wiper Fit uprated headlight loom & bulbs Clean the damn thing inside and out! I think that's about it for now, but at some point in the more distant future I also need to... Fix sunroof  Fix sloppy steering (could be a number of things :( ) Get some decent music in there (not sure what that's going to entail yet) But on the plus side, so far I have done... Fit Lupo wiper arms Replaced front top mounts and disks & pads So I guess it's not allllll bad. :(

 someone get bored with the smileys then? ;) The factory can't physically make the sills for another week anyway and I think everyone left has cheques winging their way to me right now. I've told my man in Canada and he said he's going to put in an order for quite a few sills anyways, so they'll be made as soon as is possible. We should get them around 10th September, but I'll let you know a definite date closer to the time!

Nah it's a pretty good job, it's just I know you don't get them til Thursday ;)
