  1. If you're looking for sound insulation, then heavy stuff and foamy stuff will do the trick. The roof flashing stuff is exactly the same as Dynamat/Skinz/et al, but as you say it's only 2-3mm thick rather than 4-6mm thick. Skinz is really not all that expensive if you buy it in big sheets from a car audio place. Buying the pre-packaged stuff off the shelf in Halfords is tho. However, if you're replacing the under-carpet insulation you also have to bear in mind the amount of sealing wax under there. The chassis was wax-dipped at the factory to stop rust later in the car's life. If you scrape all of that off (pain in the bum in itself) then you've lost the rustproofing. Similarly, you'll want some fairly good heat insulation down there, which is why there's all that matted fibre stuff. You could use some foam instead I guess tho. Then you're somewhat back to square 1 tho - for the sound deadening stuff like Dynamat to work properly, you need to stick it to the metal to stop the metal from vibrating. If you just lay it on top of a layer of foam, it'lll still kill the sound a fair amount, but the edges will vibrate against the bodywork - so make sure they're foam-covered.

    Anti-lag set up

Yeah, but I think that was more to do with you popping 2' flames out of the exhaust

    Anti-lag set up

Can I just interject my highly technical opinion here that the turbo chatter sounds way cooler than the pssshiiiiiiiit of a dump valve. That is all
  4. No - nothing's turned up yet... there was something that they tried to deliver that needed a signature, but I wasn't in. I'd rescheduled re-delivery to my work address twice and both times they tried to re-deliver to my flat and haven't heard from them since - not sure if that's because of the strikes or just because they're muppets tho. Buut if that's not the means that you sent it by, then nothing's turned up :(

    Anti-lag set up

Scruffythefirst has a scary knowledge of all things turbo. He doesn't own a Corrado but his Cosworth-powered Dax Rush is running Emerald and he's been doing a lot of research on anti-lag and launch control. God knows why tho, the thing's already a rather large slice of pure mentalism
  6. Ugh, I can see the appeal and why they've done it, but ugh I wish they wouldn't. It's almost enought to make you want to go out and buy a Fiat 500 instead
  7. If you're looking for somewhere decent, I'd take your baby to Premier Garage in Newport mate. They did a bit of work on my last Corrado and the guy that runs it is really nice and they used to race MkIIs so they know what they're doing. Obviously make sure you check work that they do, as you should with any garage, but they're prety decent.
  8. If nothing else, the name would be enough to put me off
  9. Nope, but I know they (used) to post a lot on SeatCupra.net advertising cheap parts.
  10. If only we could put a battery in the fresh-off the production line VR6 sitting at Karmann...
  11. Wrong colour, wrong wheels, no badge... don't think it's a Storm. It looks pretty rot-free tho so easily worth £100. Heck, if I had somewhere to put it I'd have it for that money.
  12. This is an even crazier video along the same lines! I really have no idea how this was filmed, but it looks amazing... (Rename the end of the file to .avi to get it to work)
  13. "oooh it sounds pretty"? it's funny looking at the mods tho - Lupo wipers, check. Rieger gear knob, check. Momo wheel, check

  15. I'd wager it's a loose connection somewhere (most likely a blown bulb) that's shorting out and causing lights to come on. If you go over a bump it moves and goes off again...
  16. Ever wondered what it looks like inside your engine?
  17. Not running your suspension as ridiculously low? You must be on coilovers to be that low, so wind them up a bit until it doesn't rub any more.
  18. Which one? I keep having similar thoughts, then think about what on earth I'd get instead for the same kind of money...
  19. Heh heh bouncing off the rev limiter in 5th
  20. Bit of a progression from the crabs I heard he had then...
  21. Another vote for BJV here - I just had a set of Compos done by them and they look like new...
  22. As above - yes, even got the part number. It's just a solid rubber version instead of the crap viscous standard one.
  23. Yeah, I'd imainge it's probably easier to just lift off a bit
