It'll be the 4 bar one cos they don't sell the 3 bar one any more and I don't think VRs ever came with anything other than the 4 bar one anyway :) The 3 bar one was only ever used on the G60s and early valvers I believe.

I'd imagine the carriers and callipers will fit, but I think the 312mm VAG disks are only 5-stud.
-
Niiice. I hope they got a right rollockin' for that

Get it on a 4-wheel laser alignment rig as I'd guess something's awry with the suspension geometry. Most bodyshops will have/know where a good rig is and a full setup will probably cost you around £70. Make sure you check, or get them to check all of your tyre pressures before you start tho :)

If you got rid of your C what modern car would you have?

I'd have to agree with the V70 T5 (or better yet, the T5-R) although they aren't exactly modern now  It has to be the original 90's ones in pastille yellow and anthracite 5-spoke fan blade alloys 8) -

See, that's the thing - there's nothing under £20k that I'd rather have than the Corrado... I could sell mine to get an Exige, but it'd be a £17k loan I'd then need to pay off, on top of the similar running costs for a Corrado... -
Ooh that is rather interesting...
-
Yeah, it's not a realistic journey  I reckon you'd need something like 18 days to do it at a comfortable pace, but yeah it wouldn't be cheap, especially if you had to pay for the factory tours and Le Mans tickets. I reckon around £400 in petrol wouldn't be a bajillion miles away tho. Ferry/Channel crossings - £200 18 nights in a hotel @ £70 a night (bear in mind it'll be a different hotel pretty much every night) - £1,260 18 days of food at £15 a day - £270 Le Mans tickets - £50 Tour tickets total of around £80 That all adds up to about £2k a pop, but bear in mind you'd want at least 2 people in each car, so it'd be more like £1,400 each, plus you'd need the best part of 3 weeks off work too...

I don't drive to work, so my car's just for playing. It'd have to be an S2, Toyota engine'd Exige for me. In fact, I get more and more tempted every time I see one. The insurance isn't much different to a VR Corrado either... -
Yeah, I reckon you'd want to do it the other way around. Maybe something like this

When I drew up that list last night I was thinking "now I know the Merc factory isn't the only thing in Stuttgart..." Editied to reflect the better taste  Looking at my map tho - the trip back through France is terribly boring - it's a long way to go out of your way just to drive over a bridge, especially as there's nothing of real (car) interest between Millau and Le Mans. Edit: I've added Maranello and Monaco to the trip too :D

Sweeeeeeeeeeeeet!

I believe all of the original panels were made at Karmann and they still have the tooling for it there sitting in a dark warehouse somewhere. There were some plasticy bits made in Mexico tho and there may well be some other bits and bobs made elsewhere (any bits pilfered from Golfs, Passats, etc weren't made by Karmann), but the cars were assembled largely by hand on the Karmann production line in Osnabruck. Buut either way, it's not Wolfsburg
-
They were build in Osnabruck, by Karmann... not even VW  But yeah, I just presume they're muppets...

I was chatting with my mate this evening about the best driving road-trip we could do (it started off in reality and soon became fantasy), but I came up with the following trip... Hook of Holland -> Nurburgring -> Stuttgart (Porsche and/or Mercedes factory) -> Stelvio Pass -> Monza -> Maranello (Ferrari factory) -> Turin (Ital Design/Giugiaro) -> Monaco -> Millau Viaduct -> Le Mans -> Calais I thought it would be a bit of fun to see if anybody else could come up with any other interesting sights to see along the way, or their own crazy road trip :) Google Maps link Edit: Added Maranello and Monaco to the list :D

I'd like to point out that I only got that MPG by sitting at a very steady 70 continuously for over an hour. Any use of the right pedal soon lowered it and full throttle thraps past people whizzed the number down amazingly quickly  I think my average MPG is about 29 tho

Well in my mind it's the only way to stop being electronically stalked and fined everywhere you go. Nobody will touch you and it's what all the chavs do... Heck, if you want, you could even 'sell' the car to someone else with a fake name, address, etc...
-
Ah well see you're still in the box... SORN it, don't tax it, don't insure it, run fake German plates, speak with a dodgy accent... job done!
-
The dishwasher will probably get the crud off the plastic, but it'll definitely strip the foam backing off it. I'd also wager that the actual plastic has gone yellow, so even after you clean it, you won't get it back to silver without re-painting it.

'Road pricing' in not-going-to-happen shocker !
dinkus replied to ReekieVR's topic in General Car Chat
The Petition website is a waste of time - most of the petitions are badly researched and/or wrong. The ones that aren't just get brushed off by the PM (or more likely one of his gimps) by a lengthy reason why you're all wrong and why he's right. Someone posted up about the Red Arrows one on here, but if nothing else it's the IOC's decision who does or doesn't perform at the event and certainly nothing to do with the PM. Road pricing was never in a million years going to work and I suspect the whole ID card balls won't either - nobody wants it, it's too expensive and gains virtually nothing in usefulness. Let alone all the issues with privacy, security, ease of bypassing it and giving more and more incentive to people not to register cars/themselves in the first place... -
You want a 4 bar pump, can't remember which is made by who, but have a search on here and you should find some info on it. Also be aware that the new style pumps have different level sensors on them, so you might also need one of them too.
-
Guys, you're not thinking far enough outside the box. Get some German plates made up with actual German registration marks on... If you get pulled over, do a deviant and put on a fake German accent... You won't get done by cameras, you probably won't get pulled over because it will look like pukka German plates to the plod. The only slightly tricky bit is that your car's a right-hooker and you'll have a UK driving license, but I'm sure if you've got enough balls to blag the German accent, you'll be able to blag that too  Oh and it might be a teensy-weensy bit illegal. Especially if you get into an accident and want your insurance to pay up. But hey, in a police state the only way to avoid getting caught is to not be on the system in the first place...

I got a mind-blowing 42.9 mpg on my joyous trip around the M25 at 70 on Friday...
-
The light is for coolant level, not temperature. Check that the level is between the min and max markings on the header tank. If it is, then it could be the plug for the sensor is loose/disconnected/full of water. Otherwise it could be the sensor (2 metal prongs in the header tank) is dead.

Crap. Not sure if they're gonna try to re-deliver it now, or if they're sending it back or if it's stuck in the log-jam from the strike :(
