Rodders, I agree I am one jammy fooker with this car. The guy who built the engine was definitely having a good day :D Cheers Amit, you tart (blame Bally!) -
Agree, should have checked where Pablo was based. VW oil service looks like it will do the trick anyhow.

Lee, it's not finished yet. Once complete we'll do a RR run to see. By seat of the pants feel there's alot more torque below 4k rpm. Vince did a RR before any of the mods were carried out - just the K&N 57i on there from before - made 217bhp with 197.5 lb/ft. After these mods I'm not expecting an increase in that bhp figure, but I will be interested in the torque and more importantly, what the curve looks like. -
Take it to Stealth mate. IMO any enthusiast who would be interested in your VR should you want to sell would give a Stealth stamp as much of a thumbs up as a VW stamp, if not more! If you're not planning on selling for ages, definitely go to Stealth - your car will love you for it! If you really really want a VW stamp, take it to VW and have a basic lubrication service done. They'll change the oil and filter, releave you of circa 100 quid and give you a VW stamp in your service book. Then take it to Stealth/good specialist for the rest of the service.

s7orm I've had the RS on the car pretty much as long as I've had the car, but never used them for the winter. Used to run the Speedlines in the winter until I bought the RCs from you. Use RCs for winter now mate. Got 312mm brakes up front now so will only be running the 17s from now on. Posted some pics of the mods today up on my gallery thread if you fancy a look. Glad to hear you've got another VR, worth holding on to mate - especially over a Audi TT

Nope, it was: http://www.swap_your_kidney_4aVSR.com Was indeed ebay.de. Your 288 set up is identical to the 312 set up, just with the smaller discs. -

I know mate, I was gonna wash it before taking the pics! Once a tart always a tart! -
It's very difficult to predict how long a cat will last. Alot depends on mileage, whether it was from a car that was used for alot of stop/start runs, quality of fuel etc. On the whole they're pretty strong, and a second hand one will be cheap. I'd buy it cheaply - say 20 quid and fit it if you're worried about MOT man and emissions. If it fails soon, it fails, but you've only spent 20 quid so not too much bother. Superpsrint fits exactly as well as a OE VW item, so it might be even better than a Magnex for fit!! Quality if fit is second to none. They're not cheap systems though - but the best never are! You're looking at circa 430 quid for cat back system.
-
BTW, I'd highly recommend a Supersprint exhaust for the VR. Up to now the options have mainly been Magnex and Miltek. Miltek seem to be a bit touch and go on the quality of fit, so I was always considering a Magnex. Vince @ Stealth sold me on the Supersprint, and I can really see why. Top notch.
-
Or you could always go Miltek with Miltek sports cat - JMR can help here. As Kev says, cheapest bet will be getting a second hand VR cat. They do come up. I sold one on ebay after a struggle for 30 quid!
-
First question - no. Second question - alot! Call GPC, Luton for a discounted price.

Took the 2nd wife (as the wife calls it ) up to Stealth for a few choice mods at the end of last week: Mk4 V6 4motion 312mm discs & calipers Pagid grooved discs and FR pads Goodridge braided hoses Supersprint cat back exhaust system BMC CDA Larger flowed throttle body Fit the VW Motorsport VSR It's fair to say the car's a different animal now! The engine has always been a bit more lively than stock, but the induction mods have absolutely transformed the low down response and pull of the car. Definitely worth while doing for a road going real world VR. Ideally I would have liked to have done the mods one by one to see how things improved at each stage, but I couldn't be ar$ed this time! The other unexpected change is the sound. I love the sound of a VR with induction kit, but the VSR and BMC CDA take it to a different level. It's more cultured sounding, and I think the VSR has something to do with this as well as the CDA. The Supersprint is a damn fine piece of kit too. Absolutely perfect fit for starters! The tailpipe is just like OE, only slightly larger so it fills the bumper aperture perfectly and also exits at the slight angle the OE pipe does, which I like. Lovely and quiet (silent on the motorway), but with subtle bassy tone, especially at low revs. A very highly recommended system to you VR owners out there. The brakes are already far far better than the Pagid grooved 280mm set up and they're not bedded in yet!! Pretty much a plug and play conversion. And as ever Stealth is THE place to go, but you guys already know that. You really can't fault their advice and service. :D -
Cat fitted or not? if not I'd say it is a touch lean. 1% normally??
-
s7orm how you doing mate - Asim here :) I was think about your car when I checking out the link last night, but since yours was damaged and a write off I thought this couldn't be it! If nothing else we've cleared up what the Recaros are doing there!! The only way they would be in a Storm would be a retro fit. How's the RS2?
-
Pretty sure they wouldn't - hence why the Storm was released with no optional extra list except auto box as an option. It all comes down to how the cars were being produced on the production line at Karmann for VW UK. No extras means the cars were rolled on as shells and off as cars with no "individual" spec cars. Nice and simple and quick, and above all CHEAP!! A perfect run out for the manufacturer!!
-
But they weren't all that difficult to source when this Corrado was new/year old.... My point is Recaros on a Storm isn't possible - so either they're a retro fit/very special order/it's a fake Storm.
-
That's just it, you couldn't! A green Corrado with beige leather, retro fitted Solitudes, Storm badges is going to look exactly like a Storm. At least with a mystic Storm you knew it was def a Storm...
-
Unless those Recaros have been retro fitted this is a green Corrado with Storm badges added, so a fake!
-
The worst set of BBS RS's in the World.....EVER!
MoonlightVR replied to PhatVR6's topic in General Car Chat
Phat, bad move using acid/wonder wheels etc on split rims - will lift the lacquer and eat into the machined finish on the outers, even on a new set. Although these are fecked, so it doesn't really matter as much. What you gonna do to the outers? -
That's the one Jay. Get onto ebay.de mate - beige C interiors often come up on there.
-
Good point Rodders, the campaign had a sleeker profiled door pull pin while the earlier GTIs, 1.8s included had the mini mushroom profile
-
Sorry mate they didn't on both accounts. Rubbing strip along the side was the standard thin black metal strips only, and the door pulls on all later Mk1s were the same ie. had the mock stitch design in the vinyl. If the cae had thicker rubber rubbing strips these were added as an aftermarket extra, never by the factory/part of the original spec.
-
Sounds like you've mixed the wiring up on the mIn and max settings based on your description above.
