Great idea, hopefully it will become a good resource.

Can't join your gang then rodders.. Matt (1.8T MK.II previously Limited) was on about the oak green C at the Unit 22 gathering this weekend, nice to see some piccies of it.

Used to do about 100 miles per day but only had to put up with traffic on the way home ever other week due to shifts. Now I live in the North of no-where I only do about 14 miles a day, and I am lucky to see more than 10 cars in that 10 miles.

Looking good so far, be interesting to see how this goes as I have only ever heard good things about 'squirt, especially for the amount it costs.

At last - replacement for Aqua Blue G60 bought....

You will need to go with someone else and get your car resprayed to look like a skittle! (The sweet, not the engliish pub bowling thingy.) -
Great article, and a great comment on the state of the media.

To be honest I would expect most assessors to look at your car after a crash and unless it is really obviously modded they probably would not even notice a set of 280's on a valver.

Thats's a hefty list of crapola there Furkz.. Who did your CV's? Although they probably only need doing back up with a bit of luck.

What VW's have you owned and how old are you??
Yandards replied to bigben's topic in General Car Chat
29 (Not sure why people bother sticking a birthday in on the forum if its not a joke one but hey ho) Only started driving 9 years ago as I didn't have the cash to pay for either a car, lessons or insurance ;) Dubs has been in reverse order, started with my C in January 04, then a rocco later that year in Novemember. Recently bought a MK.II in September this year, details in sig. Still got all of them and no plans to get rid of any yet. Also owned July 97 - July 98 'B' Suzuki Swift 1.3 GS - Was pretty quick, drove like a go kart and was going rusty. (Sold it a mate a work - took them 2 and half years with no oil changes and ragging it to blow it up!) July 98 - August 99 'E' Honda Integra 1.5 auto - It was my mums old car... written off when some dozy bint drove up the back of it whilst it was parked on a wide road on a clear day!! March 99 - Date 'L' Triumph GT6 MK.III - Daily driver for few months and has spent more time off the road in bits since then, currently at 2cc's work in the carpark covered in primer. August 99 - February 2001 - 'F' BMW 318i - Great car, loads of fun in the wet. February 2001 - June 05 - 'R' Pug 306 D Turbo - Good engine but thats about it and electrics designed by a chimp with a hangover. More than happy with the build quality on the dubs - the only thing that came close is the BMW. -
Not sure about the boot on the rocco being small! For me it would have to be the 'rocco. Lightweight, quick - probably outrun the VR without too much effort and would certainly be a worthy challenger against the syncro'd passat. Ok so there are some compromises with daily use but it is running a C cable change box and that coupled with the bulkhead swap will make it quieter at speed than anything but the VR. (Thw wind noise on my MK.II is really noticeable when switching from the 'rocco let alone the C! Not so sure about the 4 points harnesses but that is not a big job and you could adjust the ride quality with a bit of tweaking. As for rarity the 'rocco is the rarest of the lot and the steering wheel is on the correct side.
-
It also ensures that your water warms up quickly too - that's one reason why 80's and early 90's dubs have really good heaters.

Can just see it now, 'Coppers get stuck whilst trying to get out of Lambo is catch suspect who escaped on foot.' Glad this is not actually going to be bought/used, bit of an abuse of taxpayers cash if it was.

Mk. II golf all the way for me. Loads of bits on the 'rado that fit, so when I get random new bits for the 'rado I stick the old 'rado parts on the Golf as they are in better condition.
-
Yeah love these things - got a selection of the Halfords ones some that NickVR6 and I went halfs on at BVF this year but the best ones are defo the megs ones I just bought. Damn people who buy packs of ten - that's 30 cloths!

Is your Corrado your "best" car, or your runabout?
Yandards replied to PhatVR6's topic in General Car Chat
Use mine for both best and daily. Right now it is daily as the scirocco is being a pain. It will go back to being best when I have fixed the 'rocco. Then it will be the Golf or the 'rocco as daily hacks. -
That's a p1$$ poor effort at factual accuracy. Mk. III Golf dash WTF? Corrado as a Scirocco replacement? Balls as well. My valver will do 130 FFS! (Sorry bit angry today ;))

Bad News for Car tuning / modding scene !!!
Yandards replied to Tempest2's topic in General Car Chat
thats not a bad thing, overwide stretched tyres look **** IMO  And they do f**k all for handling! Don't think this would go through in its current format at least in this country anyway - far too much money in 'modified' cars and it would put a far section of people out of business. -
Totally agree with Kev here. Where this sort of stuff is really good is when you do a complete engine rebuild and get everything dynamically balanced - no need for the extra weight of a standard pulley then as the vibration is gone.
-
Exactly. I am using my oldish C bits on the golf - bargin. Eric good luck mate, can't wait until I fix my 'rocco then I can finally put the C to bed for winter and get that bloody engine fitted!!
-
Thats going to be a bit of a monster sleeper if they stick a standard front end on it.
-
Got to agree that ordering anything from overseas is a much more pleasent experience than from the UK. Howver, most of the overseas companies are still run by enthusiasts whereas here they are mostly businesses and as such you loose the level of knowledge about the products. I am not saying that being a f**k wit is good business practice of course.. :)

Saw something I never thought I'd see today...ZERO miles G60
Yandards replied to Andy665's topic in General Car Chat
Nice, the ones Karmann have are awesome but to see some with the steering wheel on the proper side would be great. It's also nice to see someone preserving these cars in UK form in an 'as new' condition for when we all can't drive anymore. -
Advice on lumpy, erratic 2.0 16v - being a bit crap again..
Yandards replied to Jim's topic in Engine Bay
Kinda good news then Jim, at least it is getting there. For a quieter ride I would fit VR top mounts at the front when you upgrade but that is just a personal preference. As for the wishbones just buy new ones - probably cheaper by the time you have paid for someone to push the old ones out and new ones in! Might as well do the rest of your bushes while you are at it - there are not many left! That and the wear in the rest of the wishbone bushes will accelerate the wear in the new bushes when you get them fitted. -
I would try to 'prove' the figures from the MFA first by running a couple of tanks and working out the MPG that way. You can try cleaning your ISV, there is a thread on here somewhere about it, the other issue maybe that your mixture screw is coming loose again. Another thing to check would be tyre pressures, especially at this time of year as the falling average temperature will start to knock them down quite quickly.
-
Just don't sell the bloody thing when you get it sorted to how you want it! But seriously Jim this is a job even you could manage with ease. I realise it's more than you may want to spend but halfords do sell some excellent tool kits and I have had my set for over 7 years now - it's even the same one the Vince has kicking around his workshop. This is only swapping 6 bolts over and they are easy to get to. As for the exhaust resonance do you still have that power rhoar crap fitted?
