  1. Damn its only been the hassle I have had with the importers in the past that has stopped me ordering more stuff from BBM - no excuses anymore!
  2. Heh quality. Love the spec list for the Honda!
  3. Mmnnn big bigger brakes for standard wheels Nice shinny stuff you have there Daz
  4. Yeah rear wheel bearing nut loading is an odd science. With the wheel off you should just about be able to move the washer/spacer behind the hub nut by using a flat screwdriver between the washer and rim of the recess for the nut and pushing on the screwdriver shaft at right angles with 1 finger. If it moves really easily it will need doing up until you can only just move it.
  5. Vibration only at a set speed is usually wheel balance. As has been said wheel bearings drone - you will also get a note change by loading the bearing in a different way when going around corners, it is usually worse going one way rather than another. If your tracking has been out for a while then you will have an unusual wear pattern on your tyres and this will also cause vibration at certain speeds when you get the tracking corrected. OK VR6, if your car has done some mileage, it also looks like its on 17" rims, then you may well need a new set of top mounts on both sides. This is because the bigger rims and shorter sidewall will increase the load on all the suspension components causing faster wear. As for the rear wheel bearings how did your mate diagnose the problem?
  6. Get a battery charger/conditioner too if it sits for a while, you can always roll it back and forth in the garage if you have room to help keep everything nice and free. Got to agree with the don't use the handbrake option!
  7. Take it back as it will only bug you and make you consider changing the head unit at some point when you don't need to. Your brakes stopped seeping now mate?
  8. Nope. 92 valver clocks will be the digital odo type so you will need the pick up that mounts on the gearbox instead of the mechanical drive found on the early ones. The indicator bulb on the early valvers is a single unit whereas on the '92 set they will be directional - not sure how difficult this would be to get around.
  9. Damn that looked big! Lucky everyone is ok - there are a few junctions on my regular commute that make me twitch with people pulling out at really dumb points; there is no way the 'rocco would protect me that well at those sorts of speeds. Number 13 bus going by in the pics too for those that believe in such things..
  10. You want to try the Shell garage near fairford on the way to lechalde wendy - its 89.9p a litre for the normal stuff.
  11. Spotted an L reg green Vr between highway and lechlade heading towards lechlade around 17:20 on Thursday, looked like a lady driver, any takers?
  12. LMAO Sounds like a whole new forum game 'Whats the most unusual type of vehicle that you waved at and had a wave back?
  13. Got a rocco and will wave if I see a C. Sometimes get one back but its no C envy as I have one..
  14. The other thing to think about is that the Reccaros from a mk II golf only adjust up and down electrically unlike the C versions that also tilt
  15. Claret Badger Alas the 16v rocco was not sold in the uk as it was one seriously quick car. I own a J plate scala i for my daily drive to and from work and its just great - average about 45 mpg or in metric about 10 miles to a liter so I am clearing 500 miles from a tank. The injection rocco is faster than the 8v golf as it is lighter and more aerodynamic. Brakes can be a bit vague as you need to podge them a bit to take the slack out of the system in the RHD drive cars. Rear axle is the same as a mk II and the exhaust will cost you less than £135 to replace both the downpipe and the mid section from VAG. Great fun to chuck around corners and the 8v engine is based on the K-jet setup. Only problem I have with them is the complete lack of power steering (was fitted to lhd models so you could probably bodge it on somehow) and the 5th cog on the gearbox is far too short 60 mph = 3k rpm - a lot more than an 8v golf box for some reason. Biggest bonus' are the massive boot, they are dirt cheap even for a mint one, no-one is going to nick it and they go a lot quicker than most other road users give them credit for.
  16. Once again bad journos strike 2.8 VR engine? ... I don't think so.
  17. What no loving shots? I am disappointed...
  18. Its those crazy germans and there obsession with gold. Remember seing a car in golf mag, I think, the owner had hasd the cover plate on the transmission gase with the VAG logo on plated in gold :cuckoo:
  19. Looks like a good quality job, and at least it will go some as based on an NSX to start with.
  20. Just a ball joint basically - but you dont want it siezing and its getting to the wrong time of year to be running a gear without all the rubbery protective bits intact.
  21. Daz do you have any dynos of the 16v CnC head compared to standard?
  22. The 'rado setup at the front end is very different to the 'rocco. You could always see how they feel by just starting to undo the old bolts to see if they crack off. New wishbones complete with bushes will set you back about £50.00 from VAG depending on what car you have, balljoints are a good idea and make sure you get a new pair of anti-role bar bushes and the 'connecting link' that attaches the end of the ARB to the wishbone as these usually sieze and sheer when undone. Bit more expense at about £35.00 each but all in you should still find this is cheaper than the garage and you get more new bits!
  23. I can't remember where I read it but there was an article about a trial in the US where a guy had been pulled for speeding. It was proven that the radar gun used had a habbit for giving false readings - this was demonstrated in court by clocking the wall travelling in excess of 10mph! This type of gun was then illegal to use in the US - they are still in use in this country though despite this.
