  1. Yup, just checked mate on my er, software for such things.. Recent price update too so its going to be close. Look like you will be using that Saturday job perks sooner rather than later  ..and yes I am envious
  2. If it is not one for a G60 then you will have had reserve oil pressure on startup. The genuine one has a higher pressure non-return valve in it to keep the pressure up to protect the charger. Should not cause you too many headaches though, just that you may have a little bit more wear in the absolute worse case although this is unlikely. The VAG one also has a drive section on the bottom so you can get the filter off again - this is missing from some of the aftermarket filters.
  3. Its a safe bet that on-one on here would buy one but I wouldn't want to be involved in an accident with one either. The combination of poor handling and bad design are a deathtrap for not only the drivers but everyone else too. As for the Japs 'nicking' our motor industry, yes they did, they visited Triumph in the late '60's and took a lot of ideas away. The reason we don't have one is because as they got better we went on strike and the build quality was shite.
  4. I've got something similiar to this - works fine withot the g-box fitted. http://www.machinemart.co.uk/product.as ... 2050&g=107
  5. A somewhat shocking £54.64 to you sir inc VAT. The earlier switch is only £23! the price you pay for curves eh? Part number is 535 941 531F. I'd go with switch and not loom as the loom is unlikely to knock all of your lights out at once - sides, main, beam is a lot to lose in a one-er.
  6. Yup, thats the information I have, even if it means booking a roadsweeper. It is not often enforced though, sadly.
  7. I think you struggle to get 5 people in a micra :norty: As for who's fault etc - who cares? No one got hurt and thats all that really matters, if you learn from it then thats a bonus too. On a legal front the tractor driver is also at fault for not cleaning the mud from the road.
  8. Lucky it does not happen too often then - unless you are trying to build a house..
  9. If you get the VW CV gaitor kits then you need to use all of the tube that comes with it - half on eash side of the cv joint. The newer VAG ones are plastic instead of rubber too and are a hell of a lot easier to fit.
  10. Now theres a man with ETKA
  11. Someone take me outside and shoot me. Comparing a Hyundai with a 'rado is like saying a metro is well built..
  12. Mine is one of the oldest being an early G plate, not registered until Jan 90 but build date is November 89. Unless someone has another press car or they buy the Paris show car then Veedub_Rado's is going to be tough to beat!
  13. I am fairly sure there was a case in the EU that ruled that companies offering insurance for woman with a lower rate was illegal, but hey you can get the stupid EU courts to agree to anything!
  14. Depends on the circumstances Baz, if its before you get a ticket - a while. After a ticket, a lot quicker!
  15. Would be good to see one thrown around in a 'just out of the factory' condition. Gotta love that guys comment 'No chance, the Corrado is well loved in my office!' Wonder if that was a factor in picking the cars..
  16. Oh dear, hope he isn't guarding electrical items he might hurt himself on a plug. 'Yeah, so what happended was this pig came down from the sky and took everything; honest guv.'
  17. Its all about how you want your power and torque delivered and you can tailor an engine to give you what you want if you spend enough money! It is a standard VW 8v thing that there is plenty low down but not a lot up top, the complete opposite of the 16v engine. As has already been mentioned the engine is only 1 part of the package and to get the best out of it you need to make sure its balanced and, more importantly, fit for the purpose that you need it for.
  18. Thanks Henny, I knew someone would remember, although my as soon as I clicked on the thread link it came back to me :brickwall:
  19. Ouch, moral of the story would appear to be 'Don't test your car near a smoking fat guy' Found this as a random clip: http://media.putfile.com/stunt14/original
  20. Argh! Hope its not too bad. Would be worth trying one of the mobile chip remover types of company as they will probably be able to sort it out. I would give you a name but my brain has decided it doesn't want to tell me right now.
  21. In that 10 years C&C milling has gone from being a technology only available to the likes of F1 and the military to fairly commenplace. As such it is now possibly to get a more exact tolerance on any head work carried out; I would expect to see a modified G60 capable of producing a healthy amount above 300 now. Would love to see a charger manufactured on a C&C, you could really wind the tolerances up, unlike the original casting.
  22. Couple of guys at work made up a gaming chair for GT3 after a trip to the scrappies to get some seats.
  23. The bentley is a bastardised VAG workshop manual so thats is why its better than a Haynes(Even has VAG tool numbers on it too). The mk II goof one is ok if you want the engine details for a 1.8 16v but aside from that its nearly useless. Same with the mk. III goof manual and that is just full of rubbish. i.e. on one page it states number 1 cylinder is at the cambelt end of the block, on another it has swapped around to the dizzy end! IIRC Bentleys only have Yank wiring diagrams which are close enough but difer slightly from the Euro cars in a few places.
  24. Much more even line on the machined head, especially at the top end. In a normally aspirated car the most performance gain you can get for a little expenditure is a gasket port and polish. Be interesting to see what the same level of work on a cross flowed head would produce...
