  1. The engine stress in increased obviously and it would be well worth looking at getting a separate oil cooler to keep the oil temps down. Aside from that all it does is to make the charger work harder; smaller diameter pulley = more charger rpm, this increases the boost hence more HP and torque and as such the charger will wear faster. As Henny said nice easy mod to do but I would make sure your charger is in a good state before fitting one.

    Bailiff :(

Yeah I was going to say it looks suspect, give the council tax office a ring too as they will know if there is any outstanding debt on your address. They should also know but may not tell you if they have employed baliffs to collect it. Defo get onto the cops about it as this will work out as illegal however you look at it. They probably expect people to pay up without too many questions hence your 'don't worry about it'
  3. Glad its all coming together and despite all the grief at least you get a shinny new front end respray at the bargain price of much emotional grief (Or not)

    dirty seats

Groom foaming upholstery cleaner is good too, best results come from vacuuming it off, most forecourt vacs can do this. You can get it in Halfords around a fiver I think.
  5. Sure I have seen those on flea bay. Not sure about the towing eye though
  6. At a guess I would say that the oil vapour that tends to run around the G60 would have most effect on the intercooler hose, as such it will break down the properties of the plastic over time hence the expansion. The other way to look at that is that you are losing boost pressure due to the pipe expansion.
  7. Tempest yours is expensive because its a left hooker, its amazing the amount extra insurance companies want from you for an import!
  8. Ah but would a car pass an MOT with 4 space savers on? Dunno what one of them is anyway, I have a full size spare..

    Mk2 Clocks on Mk1

Another point about the early mechanical clocks (up to 31-7-90) is that the components are all separate. As soon as the digi ones come in its all PCB stuff. The early mech ones have a metal pressure sender and the early digi ones have a blue plastic one as well. (IIRC the later digi ones have 'Corrado' written on them too)
  10. There is one other problem with this and that is the government are considering placing an 'administration charge' on sorned vehicles. I am all for it but what are the odds you get a letter from your insurance company with a refund of £30? ....F**K ALL
  11. Yup corsa all the way. Some very nice engine work though, I am assuming its a custom inlet manifold too. Does it suck up small children as it goes by with that much 'blown' power? :norty:
  12. Zippy I have run both FK Konigsport coilovers at various height settings and am now running Koni TA's with H&Rs. I will say that the coilovers were very harsh and the FK's have a reputation for being soft as coilovers go! Best bet is to see if you can drive/go for a ride in people's cars with the different set ups and go from there. (Go for the TA & H&R you won't regret it)
  13. Saw a burgundy 16v just on the White Horse buisness park near virgin mobile yesterday (wednesday) at around 1:00, waved but in my green 'rocco. As per usual anyone on here?
  14. You will also find the coilovers are not designed for the vr either. 16v/g60 suspension bits are the same but the VR requires beefier springs and dampers.
  15. Mnnnnn Looks awesome, almost an updated C from the side too
  16. Oh dear, mongo no understand car keep moving :?
  17. The problem with chargers if they go wrong then they tend to self destruct. As with all second hand cars, bar a very small handful, you are unlikely to have all the service history or know how the car has been driven. With an oil fed system, especially on the G60, it is critical that the correct type of oil filter is used (the VAG one has a higher pressure non return valve in it IIRC) good quality oil and changed at the correct service intervals. If the service schedule is not stuck to then the wear on both the engine and the charger will occur at a faster rate than normal. Chargers have a bad reputation from a lack of proper maintenance and the use of non-OEM parts when rebuilt. In the long term I would recommend a preventative maintenance policy by getting a charger rebuilt every 50k or so, depending on pulley size and driving style. It's better to splash out a few quid as oppossed to a grand for a new charger as well as the peace of mind. My 2p
  18. Personally I wouldn't even consider refitting split rims bolts once they have been used. IIRC they are a type of stretch bolt, there are a few articles kicking around o the net about DIY split refurbs and a few horror stories too.
  19. A little of topic but while we are on the subject of electric windows does anyone know how exactly the 'one touch' is supposed to work? My G plate has one touch up and down drivers side but only down on the passengers side. 2cc's VR and 16v have no one touch up or down and I think NickVr6's windows do down but not up. Does anyone know what they are supposed to do. Mr Ots. bangt on with the sunroof self closure, I think its a post facelift thing.
  20. Yeah it was you Dom when we were talking to that drunk girl and her mate! I have to agree that your sexual preference should have no bearing on the car you drive. However, if you are a hairdresser then you need to get a Calibra! (P.S. If any of you are hairdresser then I am merely playing to a stereotype) (P.P.S. I can barely read this as my main PC has killed its water pump and typing on the media PC is a pain)
  21. I use the halfords pro range bought the big 150 piece kit about 5 years ago when it first came out as I was getting an Truimph and figured I would need some good tools! Its lasted very well despite some abuse over the years and all the ratchets are still in a good working condition. Really very useful having all the sockets etc well laid out in a tough case - stops you wondering if you left anything in the engine bay if its all in the box! My only criticism with the kit is the lack of a step up or down adapter, but you can buy those off the shelf anyway. Have recently bought a set of Halfords flexi head ratchet spanners and they are really very good. I also own a large (2ft) breaker bar from them and it has broken on one occassion about a year after I bought it. No receipt but they just looked at it and ordered me a new one, no arguments. So I think I am recommending the Halfords pro range after all that!!
  22. Or some wasps in a jar Baz!! It does make you wonder, I swear most of these companies go out of their way to ensure that they don't pay out by finding the most trivial thing to pick at. After looking through a few insurance websites the other day I was amused and somewhat horrified to read a class of mod entitled 'performance badges' on reading furthur 'any badges that indicate increased performance' So all those chavs with a shopping list just in front of the A post are unlikely to have declared that mod and hey presto that will invalidate their insurance..
  23. Humn, wierd indeed - not sure if I like the look of the chafuer though  Reminds me of the good old amphicars, some nutters crossed the channel in those!! (and they were British designed and built too)
  24. My old set of FK konigsports never had a locking grub screw. I can also recommend Halfords own brand of pentrating oil - some good stuff there.
