I called Vince about a helix clutch earlier this year and his reply was to fit a standard VR one as they are good for 300bhp.

The rolling exemption of tax at the 25 year old point was stopped a while ago. The newest car that is tax free must have been built in 1972 - I say built and not registered as you can prove this with a build date. It is nice going to the post office and not handing any money over though. Some classic policies dont have unlimited mileage but do insist on garaging overnight instead. My Triumph GT6 mk III was built in 1972, and is a group 18 classic car - I pay a massive £125 fully comp inc Europe and breakdown for unlimited mileage on it. Which is nice!

I continue to fail to understand why car designers/accountants insist of making what are top of the range drivers cars all chaved up when it comes to the interior. What crazy market research/ bad idea convinces them that the people buying R32's want an interior that looks like a 17 year old has 'styled' it with his mates to look 'wiked' Aside from that it sounds like it drives very well which makes it even more of a shame about the styling or lack of it.

Fifth Gear Unleaded/Super Unleaded Experiment

Mmmnn 5 star fuel - proper stuff The early 16v's were set to run old 4 star - i.e. 98 octane so a 16v should run closer to factory using this. The G60 were set to run on 95 octane unleaded (hence the CAT) so will need a bit of a fiddle with the distributor to get the best out of 98 octance. All other rados would be set up for 95 octane. Running the higher octane fuel should mean a cleaner and more consistant burn in the cyclinder it should also help to reduce pinking as it the higher the octane rating the more you can compress it before it detonates prematurely. Nothing worse than premature detonation.. -
Well heres my effort with its bigger brother.. and yes I know the colour match is pants Any chance of a decent size one that doesn't require you to have fingers the size of a Japanese 5 year old?
-
Damn this has moved on since I last looked! Have to get a group one up at the RR at the end of the month.
-
Hi and welcome. It is unlikely they will be the right ones at the front as its a mk 2 - it tends to be the mk 3 golf stuff that is interchangable due to the Corrado being heavier than a mk 2.
-
Damn that is awesome. I find stuff like that really interesting, especially when you have this working one moment and then someone just walks in and says 'Thats it go home' Everything is just as it was, great stuff.

Have a good look at the CNC machined heads thread http://the-corrado.net/.archive/forum/viewtopic. ... 488#363488 It is possible to get over 220bhp from a 1.8 16v head!
-
Don't know if this is the same company that G werks are using but those heads look fecking ace! 220bhp at just below standard redline from a 1.8 16v with exhaust, fueling mods and a new camshaft is pretty epic. But 252bhp @ 8500rpm is just awesome Compare the cost of a 16v head to how much TSR charge, not too bad for all the work and the accuracy. Although it looks like you will still need springs, valves etc to complete the head. Wanted to switch heads post engine build anyway and I appear to have found my supplier! A friend at work called TSR and asked them about their heads and was told 'We don't gas flow them after we know what we are doing'

Wonder how many caravans they are going to destroy this year? (Lots hopefully)

Wheels like these don't really need much help in reaching a decent price either.. He doesn't tend to dump all of the items he has at once onto the market, he has been flogging individual sebring centre caps brand new one at a time for the last month or so. Keeps the demand up that way.
-
This seller does get a lot of VAG stuff and is genuine. I have bought quite a few bits from him in the past and he had delivered them to my door. For those of you that are not aware of VAG UK's parts policy dealers are required to dispose of items that have been on their parts shelf for more than a few weeks - that does not mean sending them back to the MK depot either. I would love to know where he gets his stuff from some of those VAG 1598 leads are like golddust (Including the 20 or so I have under the bed in the spare room  )

Just seen this article: VW Scirocco Despite the recent unveiling of the Golf based Eos Coupe-Cabriolet model it looks like Volkswagen is set to return to the proper coupe market with a new interpretation of the Scirocco. Volkswagen hasn’t has a coupe in its range since it canned the excellent Corrado in 1995. That’s ten years without a coupe in the range, though if you’re after this new model you’ll need to wait until 2008 to see it in dealerships. Unsurprisingly it’ll be based on the Golf’s underpinnings and offer a wide range of normally aspirated and turbocharged petrol engines. A diesel engine is also likely with diesel’s ever increasing acceptance in the European market. Its on here: http://cars.msn.co.uk/carnews/coupesnov05/ Looks like the 'rad left VW with a bad taste in their mouth if they are going to call the new car a 'rocco. Don't like it really - looks nothing like a 'rocco the boot is no where big enough!
-
Welcome. Looks like you are reinforcing the classic 'American cars don't do corners very well' stereotype. Mean looking beast though.
-
Damn that is a nice piece of engineering.
-
Think it would be easier to just change the carpet rather than try to clean it! Noticed the sweet necklaces - I reckon thats what did it. Someone had better stop Jim from bringing sweets to the RR day
-
Urgh, another clue to the photochop is the lack of the bottom inboard corner of the light on the otherside not being visible - it should be, just about.

Bus driver jailed for five years - is it fair!!!

As Jim has said this is a difficult one to jump in on. Without all the information how can we make an informed opinion (And thats all it is our opinion) about what happened? Brazilians on trains anyone? I do have to agree with the lack of consistancy in the system. All this broken home crap etc, that is wheeled out when Chav X and his mates have piled into yet another packed family car; whilst demonstrating his 'mad skilz' only to be given a driving course at a bloody race track somewhere, really pi$$ me off. -
Compared to similiar cars made by Western manufacturers the 'rocco is streets ahead. The 1.8 8v block is near bulletproof, the bodywork was all galvanised (C reg Escort anyone - whoops its rusted away by now) Have a bit of a read of this for a few tips : http://www.sciroccoregister.co.uk/

Deeper dish is easy, trying to find new standard depth ones is bloody hard! You could also try image wheels or have a look on German e-bay.
